Why the hell would anyone pay $1.99 to watch vintage episodes of "Adam- 12" or "Knight Rider"?!?! What a joke!

Some of us grew up when Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazzard, Airwolf, MacGyver, etc, were in primetime. Compared to today's TV that's mostly worth about $0.10 a show (apologies to Law & Order and Lost), I'd certainly pay $1.99 to watch some quality shows. I'm crossing my fingers they add some '70s content, like Good Times.

BSG.......... but not in widescreen... what the hell are they thinking?*

Maybe I'll buy some Monk episodes, but I really love Battlestar Galactica, and it not being in widescreen is a dealbreaker. DVD's it is.

*and of course, counting on consumers to think "DVD's it is" is probably the reason it's all in such low quality and not widescreen. They're just going to drive people to piracy, where the format is 16:9, and the resolution is higher.

At least Knight Rider has a campy/kitshcy ironic thing going for it-- but Adam-12-- that is old as the hills! That was in reruns when I was a small child in the early 70s.; and if I recall correctly it was no good even then! I can't imagine that there was a groundswell of requests for Adam-12. That's an odd choice. Now if they'd put the Sid and Marty Krofft stuff online; I'd be at home buying it now-- THAT's Nostalgic Bad TV.

They're thinking that they are selling these videos for the video enabled iPod and they would be right. You peopel kill me with all these things you want when really the point of the videos are to provide content for the iPod. It's not a DVD replacement!

just got in...looks like nbc, sci-fi, usa, and the disney channel finally got on board....now where the hell is fox....guess the evilest of all will wait till later

The disney channel has been on board since day 1.

FX needs to get in on this, I want nip/tuck on there. (even though I don't have a video ipod, I wouldn't buy any tv shows until I got one). At least put "The Twilight Zone" on there!

The industry needs to realize there's a huge market for DVD replacements. Apple in particular needs to admit to itself that there's only a limited market for people watching shows on tiny tiny little screens.

Most of us just want a legal way to download high-quality TV and movies. I was hoping Apple (or anyone, really) would act on this faster.

I agree. I have ripped plenty of DVD (widescreen) movies to my iPod over the last week or so and they look kind of silly. All they are is a small strip along an already small screen. Do I like it? Yes, but if I had the option to rip someone's full-screen version instead, I would.

And if they make them high-quality widescreen i guarantee you the price of the episodes goes up about $1.50

Just a thought, but aren't the Conan specials 9.99 because they are available on DVD? I'm pretty sure that the DVD's cost around 10 (maybe 15) in stores... but they still sell. Why is it that 15 bucks for a 1 hour DVD (mind you does have some extras) is not outrageous, but the ability to download the same hour episode for 9.99 is the wooooorst idea ever? (According to some on this board)
I don't understand. Did SJ come to your house and take 9.99 from you? You are not forced to download anything... I probably will never download more than a few episodes, out of curiousity, but look at it this way. As an Apple fan, are you not happy that Apple is aking the lead in this department? The fact that they have a monopoly on mp3 players and audio sales is awesome. If they're able to do that with video sales (TV or film) that would be great! You have to think that by getting that monopoly they are just waiting to release the perfect media centre computer! And I know people complain about the h.264 or MPEG formats because that is not what you can get from BT web-sites, but correct me if I'm wrong, isn't it true that Media Centre PC's are also unable to play DIVX files? There is always a way to convert files to get them to work with minimal effort.
Maybe in 2 or 3 years we will have moved on from the iPod halo affect to the Apple Media Mini affect (or whatever they call their media computer) that will attract users to buy other Apple computers?

EDIT: I'm aware that you can play DIVX files in windows media player, but I mean playing DIVX files from the Media Centre application. Whenever I tried this I got weird discoloured images and whatnot and I think it actually is a common problem. The ability to play DIVX refers only to the media application, because as we all know, vlc (and even quicktime with a plug-in) can play divx on macs.

THEIR IS A GOD! Now they just need to add Law and order SVU, and family guy, and i would be one happy person...can't wait for Chunuka to come! i want my video ipod now

I have a feeling Fox (as rumored) and other big stations would do this, its like getting free money almost

What they need to add is: Family Guy, Simpsons (obviously), Weeds, Entourage, Rome, House, 24, The Sapranos, and I think that's about all I have one my wish list....ok Santa (take the "n" out and put it on the end of his name and find his true identity...) work your magic!

Yeah.....unless you're an American customer of Apple's there doesnt seem much point to the video iPod.

Yeah, but aside from Monk, there's still nothing worth watching....

Until they get BBC content, that is.

This is ***** rediculous, go to the Conan Obrian show, $10 bucks gets you an hour of content, and for 2 bucks you can get a 10min clip. This is possibly the worst pricing sceme I've ever seen. Leno is charging $2 for less than 6 minutes of clips.

Why would apple let them do this??

ok then, if someone tries out the "voucher" trick to DL from the US iTMS to any non-US country, please report feedback...:D

...otherwise is there an online easy ( and cheap ) way to file in for a US credit card ?
