I was unsure of this application

but after using the competitors out there Palringo (which is ok) and the otehr pay one, I am CONVINCED this was well worth the money -VERY stable and well executed. 4 out of 4 stars.

put your phone on airplane mode, then go back into the settings and turn wifi back on manually and connect to your network. People thinks it works on wifi because you are connected to wifi at the time, but the push still comes through over 3G or EDGE. Completely disable your cellular radios and you will see that it doesn't work, which not coincidently is the reason that push is not an option for yahoo on the iPod Touch.

i dont know why it wouldnt work on wifi

Someone forgot their medication? Push notifications are implemented as emails which are sent to you to alert you. We're waiting on Apple..

Or mayb you just epic fail at reading. Of course of doesn't support push sound/alert/badge notifications. That's Apples end. It supports push email. So it will send you an email if you got a message. For those with Yahoo, mobileme, of exhange, they'll get the email right away because those emails are push in the mail app.

WE GOT YOU SUCKA! I have a bridge in NY I can sell you too! :D

Seriously, the Push is from email notification if you have a push account set up. Read the threads more carefully.

Also push doesn't really make a difference on the touch because there is no constant connection to the internet, you would only get push availability when you're in wifi range which kinda defeats the purpose.

Actually, I get wi-fi everywhere I go. I take my iPod Touch everywhere...and the only places i go to are my school (which has wi-fi), my home (which has wi-fi) and some other local places with wi-fi. So i'm always connected except for when i'm driving around.

Isn't it amazing how some people Just Don't Get It? Here's a cheat sheet for would-be whiners:

TO USE PUSH NOTIFICATION IN BEEJIVE:

  • You must have a push-capable email account (MobileMe or Exchange)
  • That account must be set up and configured correctly on your iPhone, with push enabled
  • Beejive must be installed and configured to push to the capable email account
  • You must be within Beejive's session timeout window, which is up to 24 hours depending on your settings
If you don't have a push-capable account, the iPhone can still fetch messages from most any email account (Gmail, Hotmail, your ISP, etc) every 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Beejive can notify any email account, so you could set things up to check for IM notifications every 15 minutes if you don't use push. (Note: frequent fetching sucks the battery, please don't whine.)

Now here comes the tricky part, try to stay with me: Since I don't A) work for the developer, that means I must be B) a liar, so my entire post is false. Except that if I'm B) a liar, and I say my post is false then it must be true. If you are either A) unable to comprehend this cataclysmic dichotomy or B) convinced that everything can be reduced to a few multiple-choice bullet points, then it may be nap time. Otherwise...

I apologize for talking down to the majority of people on this forum, who would either:
A) figure it out on their own
B) search for answers
C) politely ask for help
D) follow Beejive's instructions

is it just me or everyone else get the keyboard lag as well?? it's not just 1 time, but quite frequent.. using MSN live messenger on beejive

Yes, i get it from time to time, usually when i am typing extremely fast. I've noticed that it doesn't lag when typing "normally." Still, not too big of an issue.

This is a very slick app. The price is high, so is the quality.

I reckon have already saved the cost of the application in NOT using text messages in just a few short test chats. And once I install it on my wife's iPhone and train her properly to actually use it, I'll save a small fortune.

Even if Apple release iChat for the iPhone (that was a WTF moment when 2.0 was released hey?) soon, it still will not support Live/MSN or other IM protocols.

This is Adium for the iPhone.
