Ok, I've been eyeing beejive ever since the push started to work. Last week I bought textfree unlimited because it was one of the only apps to offer push. I mainly only use these IMing programs to text. Right now I go from AIM and Textfree to text, but textfree crashes a whole lot and they are both pretty slow at opening. Would you guys recommend beejive for just the SMS function of it? Or should I wait for a different SMS app?

Dude I personally think everyone is praising Beejive because they want to justify within themselves spending $15 on an IM app when at the time Beejive was released, IM+ was pretty buggy, and Beejive blew it away in functionality. But now aside from the push notification(which is coming to IM+ anyday by the way, of course apple released Beejives update faster because its a f*%king cash cow) I think IM+ is killing Beejive in features and functionality. Yea the UI on Beejive may be prettier, but if it comes down to price vs. functionality(considering I purchased IM+ when it was .99) I say IM+ all the way. My wife has beejive and we messaged each other back and forth the other day to test functionality. Beejive was no faster at all, so I dont understand what all the praise and hoopla is about other than it being prettier. But to each his own. I just thought this thread deserved an honest comparison.

i dont get why everybodys praising beejive either... they have the same appstore score too... and im+ has twitter and skype... and will even have them with push when the update gets released...

i have both, IM+ sucks, beejive had a LOT more features (not just push) and I haven't had problems with Beejive (apart from mentioned earlier with 3.0 launch)

Beejive wins hands down!

Same here, i don't even get the comparison. It's pretty simple to me. Beejive is much better.

Beejive or IM+? That is the question.

Both now with Push and at the same price. Pretty expensive, so have to make a careful decision. Heard lots of that Beejive is having lots of problems with the 3.0, but what about IM+?

Which is better and why?

Beejive has an update incoming that's supposed to fix most of the heartaches it's had since 3.0. I can't speak for IM+, but I really, really like Beejive, and never had a single issue with it before this newest version.

Also, IM+'s UI looks like a crayon-wielding chimp had a heart attack.

does IM+ have yahoo?

Yes, they both do.

There are a bunch of threads on here discussing this same exact issue. It really depends on what you want the app to do. IM+ has twitter and skype, Beejive has a much more professional look to it (in my opinion).

Read reviews.

Too bad Beejive doesn´t have a Lite version to test it.

I need one mainly for MSN. I´ve been using Fring and now testing IM+ Lite, which both work great, but I need Push. I just don´t want to pay that much money for Beejive or IM+, if they aren´t working properly.

I've got Beejive from the moment that the updated version with push got on the AppStore. It's pretty good and indeed, it has a very professional look.
Does IM+ have picture/file sending abilities? As far as I saw, Beejive doesn't.
I also have some problems wit Beejive... if I get out of the app, I do get the push notifications, but sometimes, when I return to it, my messages are not beeing sent.
Till now, IMO the push notifications service is a failure, I hope it gets better

You can send pictures through Beejive.
Besides, the free version of im doesn't support push.

About beejive, i've been using it since it came out and at first, it was FANTASTIC. After 3.0, it has a lot of bugs, slow, interface looks horrible, and ive been hearing a lot of people complaining that they can't get online, but i personally don't have that problem. But overall, the app is good and "had" a lot of potential but now is just a total mess.

I, too, have been very happy with Beejive (although, I was disappointed to learn I've been proouncing it wrong all this time. :()

I am also using Beejive and impressed with it. Today I put my phone in Airplane mode to save some battery and listen to music. When I re-enabled my phone all my AOL and MSN messages started to come in. So it was nice it kept me online while I decided to take a breather.

So how were you pronouncing it? And what's the "proper" way?

The new release has been a bit buggy for me, but still very useable. I do like the UI and the push alerts have been working fine for me.

Maybe you should try eBuddy or Palringo. Palringo will have push as soon as Apple approves it, shouldn't take long as the developers said it was submitted on the 25th of July (in the app description). They're both free, might as well try them, right?

a total mess? do me a favour.

the UI looks way better since the update, much smoother and more "unified" looking.

Slower? I don't think so - I'm not getting any of the delays I was having pre-3.0, and it seems to be able to deal with a lot more saved logs before slowing down.

Yeah, there were some connection issues when the update first came out, but a good 50% of those were down to a protocol change pushed out by AIM. Those connection troubles are mostly cleared now, and that's BEFORE Beejive's bugfix update has even arrived.

To call Beejive 3.0 a "total mess" is just a joke tbh - it's still FAR and away the best iPhone IM app... and how anyone could prefer the old UI to the new one is just beyond me.

I have both Beejive and IM+, in terms of IM I like Beejive way better. I tried IM+ because of its Twitter integration but I didn't like it very much. I have two Twitter accounts and it can only handle one so that was slightly disappointing for me. So i'll use Beejive for IM and Tweetie for Twitter.

Beejive is back to it's long time solid says for me. They had a facebook hiccup but everything is running perfectly for me now.

And beejive introduced photo/file sharing quite a while back. Even has a cool way of using it and switching chats. Just tap on the top bar while chatting and you get a drop down menu for things.

Dude, like i said, not everybody is having the same problems. My friend still has connection problems and i don't. Mine is slower, takes longer to respond and the new interface looks horrible in my opinion. Besides, you try to look at your buddy info with the little > icon at the end of the nickname and see how many times you need to try. I said, it looks like a total mess, because of how it looks. You may like it, but i don't. As simple as that.
