Best Buy uses your order number for reference number with UPS. Not so sure about FedEX

This does fit in line with people seeing their shipment hit on My Choice, but not showing on Best Buy.

I agree that working with Apple is much easier. Even though they do the same thing with tracking (My phone has had a live tracking number since yesterday, but Apple still hasn't updated my order), it's a lot easier to track by reference number so you feel more in-control. If Best Buy, or any other retailer used their order numbers for tracking references, I would be more inclined to use them in the future. I think this will be my last time doing an Apple pre-order through them.

I ordered mine from Best Buy on Friday, 9/15 and mine says:

You can pick it up on Fri, September 21. We'll email you when it's ready.

I selected in-store pickup.

BB told me the same thing about the tracking number being added on the day of the launch. This scenario makes it hard for the customer to plan his/her day to wait for a shipment. I rather deal with Apple directly than deal with a middle man - BB - and being caught in the middle.
I call BS, no company does that. I’ve pre-ordered plenty of stuff from best buy. They ship and notify normally.

Odd... just checked my credit card and the $$ for the Apple Watch from BB was no longer pending or paid but I still show it as a pending order on BB.

The fishy statements from BB was frustrating.

Once I cancelled my order with BB, they immediately cancelled the pre-authorization on my credit card.

That order wasn’t canceled still says we’ll notify when it ships. Guess they removed the pending charge until it ships in the future. I went with them because ATT at the time was saying feb 2019 for delivery. Oh well

As long as you have an active order, BB will repost the charge if the pre-auth falls off. Different credit cards have different time limits on how long a pre-auth is active. Some cards have 72 hrs while some others may have 96 hrs for pre-auth to be active.

Interesting info. Just curious why my iPhone preorder from them is still on the card. That preorder actually had this Friday’s date and not the “we’ll let you know when it ships” like the watch. Both were ordered the same day

Authorizations drop off all the time, no big deal. It may come back or not before the watch ships and the real charge comes in.

I sent an email to a contact I have from Best Buy that I dealt with previously regarding an in store issue (he told me to hold onto his email for any future issues). He says "My systems also indicate our expected arrival date is Friday, 9/21/18. Please keep in mind this is an expected date but everything looks great on my end."

I don't take that to effectively confirm that we WILL have them on 9/21 though. Granted I ordered mine far later than everyone else (yesterday), and am just getting the aluminum version, but if Best Buy took all of these orders and aren't going to fill any of them (or at least a significant percentage) then they are truly the worst.

I sent another email to him asking for clarification as to if the "expected arrival date" should imply "don't hold your breath".

He didn't seem to tell you anything you can't see on your order status. But all reps are like that.

Yeah, I had hoped he had better access to information, but it seems it's just going to be the "expected arrival date" spin all around. I doubt I'll get a reply back today since I think where he's located is 2 hours ahead of me. Hoping folks start seeing some tracking numbers (some seem to have, I've just been skimming through the thread), but hopefully everyone will tonight/tomorrow.

Its looks to me like all SS models will not be in stores but shipped upon arrival to BB. So, anyone who bought SS should not expect delivery on Friday.

Thanks for your concerns! :) I did cancel out of principle because if that's the best BB can do; I don't want to support them. BB wouldn't set expectations about the delivery time estimates even when I pinned them on the subject. One BB Rep stated they don't know how the preorder status works for Apple.

I just placed an order with Apple. Apple has always provided excellent customer service. The same can't be said for BB.

That was silly. BB is a premier reseller and they often get stock before other retailers. Since your switch to Apple did not improve your likely timeline it was a mistake to cancel. There is no principle here as even Apple can miss shipping dates, and has.

Nest did this with all the Hello pre-orders. Mine was delivered a couple of hours before tracking numbers were issued. It’s not as uncommon as you think.

Maybe, but it sounds out of the ordinary and I never experienced it with Best Buy. Someone who previously pre-ordered an Apple product from them would have probably chimed in by now if such a practice was in place.

At Best Buy? Lol
I did i got the next brand black Silicone sport band for $15 i saw the other ones like leather and milanese loop type band were like $60

I checked on my order this morning at 7am ET. No change from status "Pre-Order" and "Get it by Fri, September 21".

I'm starting to think the "Get it by..." date is not be the delivery but the release date.
Mine says ships by Friday 21 im worried now i hope i get it by Friday or at least Saturday

I am hoping this is the case and Best Buy does receive SS stock Friday and starts shipping them out in order.

Monday they had no information and today they are telling people stock will arrive Friday or shipping will be updated Friday.

Do others say “get it by the 21st”. This seems like confident language.

Ordered mine within a couple minutes of pre-orders opening, 44mm Aluminum GPS Sport, and it says “We’ll ship it by Fri, September 21.”

Hopeful, but no charge on my BB credit card yet.

I ordered mine within the first hour of pre-orders.. paid entirely with gift card. Status still says In Progress/Pre-Ordered/"Awaiting Authorization".. "You can pick it up on Fri, September 21. We'll email you when it's ready."

I'm a bit salty that we haven't been charged or has the opportunity to pick up in store like last year. In the event they dont show tracking info for delivery Friday I will go in store and take a chance and then cancel my order etc.

So has anyone who’s order has said “Pre-ordered, will ship when ready” seen any change in the status online yet? I’d expect we’d start seeing that today...?
I had my order in at 2:12 am right after it went live and I am still in pre order status... 44mm ss
