Costco sometimes gets better deals than education discount. Might take a while before they show up there.

I want to use my point as well but unfortunately Best Buy refuses to do educational pricing on pre-ordered items. Anybody have any luck in getting them to price match?

I'm still debating where to order it from. Wondering if Costco will have them soon.
But I definitely want to take advantage of the holiday extended return window.
Looks like the delivery time on Apple is already tracing beyond 11/15 (the date they started Holiday return policy last year)

That is a good point. I think Best Buy's Holiday return policy starts Nov 1 - right?

I’ve been an Elite for years, made a few exhchanges (not returns) and low and behold was told that the 3rd party company they use said I couldn’t return anything for a year. I guess my mistake was returning an item, then buying a different one (in most cases I spent more money) is frowned upon.

I've had this happen to me too. It's kinda ******** a third party can dictate like that.

In the end it's up to the manager's discretion, I believe.

They do that to catch serial return abusers. The third party tracks returns from various retailers. I can kinda understand since returns mean they have to sell open-box at discount.

Can you only get the monthly AppleCare+ directly from Apple?

Best Buy only shows the full upfront payment version but if you order through Apple directly you can do it monthly.

The 11" 1TB gray looks like it is already backordered.

LOL all the people complaining how expensive they are, and no way are they buying. Sure they aren't.

That was already backordered on Apple from day 1 (I think perhaps hour 1, too). Went all the way to the checkout page but I couldn't pull the trigger. :p

Some of the models have a specific date - Nov 13th. A few don't, that's why I assumed backordered.

Maybe they're purposely staggering release. I seem to recall Nov 14-21 from Apple for 1TB. I expect people decided on buying 1TB are unlikely to settle for alternatives and are more willing to wait. Meanwhile, base models probably get more impulse purchases so it's more critical to have plenty of those on hand.

The 1TB was at Nov 7th for about an hour on Apple's site before at slipped to the 15th-20th. But I suppose it's possible that for third party, they are staging it.

UPDATE: After a Best Buy associate told me the wifi iPad was ineligible for extended returns, they connected me with someone from their mobile team who clarified the extended holiday return period applies to the ALL iPads.

Just chatted with a Best Buy associate who said the extended holiday return policy does NOT apply to the iPad, even the wifi versions. The associate insisted the wifi version is somehow an electronic device that can be "activated," which is nonsense. Guess it's a reminder that going with Apple usually means getting a better customer service experience.

"Upon verifying the information here for you, unfortunately for wifi iPads, cellphones or any devices that can be activated, the Extended Holiday Return window does not apply."

I don’t see WiFi iPads in their policy though. Sometimes they don’t all share the same info and it’s not always right! Believe I used to work there and I worked with so many people who were clueless about Best Buy policies. Let me ask my buddy who’s still a lead in the computer department.

EDIT: I just spoke with him. He said as long as I purchased it after this past Sunday I’m fine. iPads are included in the holiday return policy except the cellular version which needs to be activated and goes along with the carrier policy.

Did anyone who got launch day delivery from Best Buy get a shipping notification yet? My status is still "In Progress."
