Apple Cases

I have the Rhinoshield Mod NX and the Otterbox Strada cases for the iPhone XS Max. Both are wonderful and I can wholeheartedly recommend them. Right now, I can't get enough of the Strada case. It's just perfect. The materials are fantastic, the grip is excellent. It's just a fantastic folio case, albeit a bit on the expensive side. I've bought dozens of great cases for my smartphones over the years but this Otterbox case beats them all.

I'm pretty shocked that the iPhone X silicone case is so hard to find now, all I'm able to really find online is the white, midnight blue and pink sand. Debating on if I should grab one or not..

Anyone have any recommendations for premium, luxury, professional, stylish, classy, etc. cases that aren’t the Apple leather cases?

I know what you mean. I had to drive to a Best Buy on the other side of town to get the last iPhone X silicone case they had in stock.

This may change soon though since Apple is bringing the X back into its lineup.

What color was it? Makes me sad that BB doesn’t even show them on their website anymore, guess they’re phasing them out completely since my store is sold out. I hope so because between my Rose Red and Denim Blue, I’m tempted to grab another color too before they become really hard to find.

Midnight Blue, which is what I was looking for.

Nice! BB has the Midnight Blue leather on sale, and while I’ve never been a fan of the leather, I’m tempted to grab one because that deal is so hard to pass up.
Definitely go for it. The leather cases are so much nicer than the silicone, IMO. The anodized metal buttons matching the color of the case look incredible and have much better feedback than the ones on the silicone.

Yeah, I did. Ended up only costing $10 and change because I had a coupon to use too, probably the cheapest Apple product I’ve bought in awhile, lol. I’ll give the leather another shot and see how I like it this time.

What happened the first time?

I am curious now..

If they are bringing back the X, I surely hope they bring back the accessories too (at least 1 or 2 cases) because I have yet to find a good cause that I like and I've tried a ton

Update: one day with the leather and it feels like a bar of soap in my hands, ugh. I know it takes longer to wear but I’m so used to it being grippy right off the bat.

This is another "MacRumor-ism" that drives me nuts. The leather case is nothing like a "bar of soap". Yeah, it's not ridged with ugly rubber strips to make it stick to surfaces or huge bumpers on the corners that allow you to toss it across the room. Neither is the phone itself. Simply being aware is all you need.

If you want a low profile, great feeling, classy looking case experience that will protect your phone from the occasional drop get a leather case. If you want to use your phone like a toddler uses his plastic toy hammer, get an Otterbox. Personally, I don't remember my leather case ever feeling slippery. Sure, it'll slide off my lap if I take a hard turn in the car but that's what mounts/docks/pockets/cupholders are for.

You’ll find the amount of slip in the hand of leather is more based on the users own skin, be it drier or moister. So it’s a subjective thing.

I have noticed that my iPhone X leather case is taking much longer to 'break in' than the ones I had for the iPhone 6 and 7's I had previously. I've had mine for nearly a year with intermittent use and it's still pretty dry-feeling. I distinctly remember the previous cases accumulating more oils with use and feeling better and better as time went on.

I've tried leather balsam and it does help a bit, but the effects don't last long. Maybe there's a new protective layer over the new cases preventing the oils from building up? All the cases I had were black leather.

Yes, I've noticed a few people mentioning they're removing the "waxy layer" and then using conditioner to get to that patina look faster. The midnight blue leather I got with my X last year aged perfectly; took about a month before I started to see a real patina forming.

I just put a new cosmos blue on last night and while it feels completely different than the MB, I expect it to wear in the same fashion.

Brought out the Rose Red silicone again, have a white on the way. Don’t know why, but the silicone seems like it’s the happy medium for me. Can’t be beat yet.

Have you tried the leather?

My wife has an iPhone X and loves her holographic rainbow case she bought on Amazon. I think I am going to get her the yellow and pink one for Christmas since she loves this style so much.

That's pretty sharp.

Here's my new Cosmos Blue leather case I picked up on Amazon. It smells a little different than my last leather case but it still smells like leather so I'm hoping it's authentic. I've tried so many cases over the past year and nothing matches the quality and feel of these. It's low profile and the way the camera cutout hugs the module makes it seem like the phone was built with the case in mind rather than the other way around. It also gives it a warm feel which is a nice retreat from the cold lifeless feel of most of the cases out there and even the phone in its naked state.

Can't recommend them enough. Easily worth the $50 price tag.

Burkley is NIIIICEEEE
I don't know if you still have the Burkley case (if you don't, hopefully you remember), but how is the button feedback? I'm considering getting this case for the Xs Max, but some are saying the buttons are either really tactile and clicky or really stiff. Can you please confirm? Also, how is the thickness? I don't know if you have experience with either of these cases, but can you compare the buttons and thickness to either the Caudabe Sheath or Apple leather cases? Thanks.

Man it’s been a long while. I feel like I remember it being semi thick and buttons were ok. If I remember they weren’t anything special but acceptable. Pretty sure thicker than apple leather; Apple leather pretty slim.

(If your looking for leather you might look at Ullu, too)
