Yeah but that Dell P2715q monitor is no longer sold. What I see on Amazon right now is this:

EDIT: Removed the screenshots because I just realised there weren't any 4K displays on there.

Any suggestion if I want a 4K IPS with high ppi, good for crisp text and gaming as well (PS4), and affordable price? This might be the best option, it has a low time of response (4ms) it is a 4K display and IPS panel: https://www.amazon.es/Monitor-Philips-288E2A-MegainfinityDCR-Adaptivesync/dp/B08DRSHH8T/

This Philips 288E2A monitor checks all my needs:
- 4K at 28" (I'd prefer 27" for the pixel density but it is fine)
- IPS panel with low latency or refresh, ideal for gaming
- Good build quality
- Affordable at just 314€

What do you guys think?

I assume all monitors are matte and there are no glossy options. I'd prefer glossy, as I don't suffer reflections and I like crispness, but if there aren't options I guess I can live with a matte display.
I’d trust more Dell with the U2720Q.
One thing I learned is to never cheap out on monitors. When talking about monitors, quality and reliability is always proportional to price.
P2721Q might be a bit cheaper option if ergonomics satisfy you. Or the Lenovo listed above.

Some here are suggesting to go with a 24 inch because of the higher DPI. I think 27-32 is the sweet spot for 4k. If you ever used it for windows, 24 is a headache for scaling. I can actually run my 27 inch at its native 4k resolution using SwitchResX and it works for certain tasks (things are quite small). You can't really do that on a 24 inch. Also, 27 is just much better, more screen real estate. Two docs side by side etc.

I have an LGUK850, but I would always trust Dell more because of the quality and warranty they offer. The only benefit of LG monitors sometimes is that they are brighter at certain price points. I got mine on eBay for really cheap so I'm happy with it, but if I was buying used I'd want that Dell warranty and dead pixel guarantee.

Sorry.

If you weren‘t satisfied with Ultrasharp (U2720Q being the flagship of Dell), then a P series would have never satisfied you. Panels on anything lower than U series are lower quality panels.

The only thing I know better than Dell Ultrasharp are LG ultrafine monitors and iMac 5K monitors.

Which cable do you use ?

It really seems like a defective backlight issue. Try another cable or another computer to be sure.

Thanks. I have so many different cables to check but actually they will not work with my old windows laptop at the moment. It can use only HDMI to HDMI ... hope this is a problem because I cant believe that second monitor could be defective. But actually for me U2720q model looks like previous generation if I compare this P2721Q model.
Anyway materials are not highest quality for me, build quality looks only average.

No, technically U2720Q is better than P2721Q.
U2720Q: DCI-P3 ~95%, 2x usb-c, 90W power delivery, DP 1.4
P2721Q: 1x usb-c, 65W power delivery, DP 1.2, no HDR

The U will be better than the P despite the P being a "21" and the U being a "20" model.

S < P < U < UP when it comes to Dell. The last two digits are meant to correlate to the model series / year when it was released. Generally a "21" would come out in the last few months of 2020 or in 2021.

I ordered the dell S2721QS for my macbook pro M1, but when I use a displayport to USB-c cable the display is turning on and off all the time. And when I use a HDMI cable to my HDMI adapter the screen stays black and my laptop screen keeps getting smaller and bigger. Is this a normal issue?
And has anyone found a good cable that actually works, from displayport to USBC

Been using these with an iMac and more recently with my M1 MBA for going on 2 years combined - https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-C...efix=usb+c+to+displayport+star,aps,142&sr=8-6

Connected to a pair of Ultrasharps on the iMac and an S series for the MBA.

Does Dell U2720Q using USB-C to Mac mini M1 work always in RGB mode or does it randomly (or always) go to yPbPr mode?

I am wondering the same.
No it did not stay in rgb mode but plist trick helped. Anyway I ended up returning mine, not due to this but because panel quality was not good at all (uneven tint). Not worth the price IMHO.

Thanks for the info, what did you replace it with?

How is the text on your new display? What scaling are you running and is it blurry at all?
It looks absolutely great, huge improvement from 2560x1440 QHD monitor to this 4K (32UN880-B). I use 3008x1692 and it practically looks like my MBA M1 at 1680x1050, just fonts are much larger due to monitor size obviously.

With 32" size monitor even full 3840x2160 is about usable regarding font size but then you lost HiDPI and fonts will look as terrible as in 2560x1440 QHD monitor, so I rather use 3008x1692 which still gives me nice boost to "screen estate" compared to my previous monitor and due to larger size it is nicer to watch from the same distance (about little under arms length away). I highly recommend 32" instead of 27" it you have room for that on your desk, and 32UN880-B with adjustable arm that comes with it, is great if you want to move your monitor or maybe push away after using to make room for your desk.

May I ask what 2560x1440 QHD monitor did you not like?

None of them. It is not about the monitor itself but the fact that MacOS no longer support HiDPI fonts on QHD monitors, so you are forced to use native 2560x1440 or downscaled non HiDPI modes which look absolutely terrible. With 4K monitor all these problems went away! My QHD monitor was only 25" size so if you have larger than that, it will look even worse... Forget about those QHD's for Mac unless you already own one and absolutely want to use it instead of getting new 4K or higher resolution monitor.

Butting in for no reason other than to say I just switched my Asus 27" 1440p monitor for an LG 27" 4K display (27UN500, which is currently on sale just about everywhere I think, I got mine for £100 off here in the UK) and I am in HEAVEN. Running via HDMI from my M1 MBA.
