exactly that's what I did. First it was 3.29gb something and got stuck so i cancelled it and re-started now it shows 11.24GB
Happened to me too some time ago. Try to do a restart. Might help to bring that incremental update back.

beta 6 broke my cisco anyconnect vpn client. getting the dreaded "DNS component" error shortly after it establishes the connection (version 4.8). tried version 4.9, didn't work either, DNS error popup. I have SIP disabled. Did it break for anyone else or just me?

I download the full update as it is an installer file that I can store separately.

I noticed a new thing -- having installed it on to an external SSD, I can now see a resolution of 5220 x 2880 in Displays.
Previously it only went up to 3220 x 1800 on my late 2015 27" iMac, but I could see it and select it under Windows 10.
Curiously, even though under macOS, I could only see up to 3220 x 1800, if I ran Linux Mint under Parallels, I could see the 5220 x 2880, then select Double (HiDPI) to get 2560 x 1440 at double the sharpness. So, curiously, I could get a higher resolution under Parallels than I could get under macOS Display. It would appear that the resolution was always there, I just couldn't get at it.
Go figure. Apple trying to protect me from myself again...

Working OK for me.

That’s interesting. I’ve disabled and enabled the extension in Safari several times but it refuses to work. The app itself works, only nothing works in Safari. Other browsers work. Is that what you’re alluding to? I’m going to try and reinstall. Let’s see if that resolves it. :)

EDIT: I did one better. I downloaded 1Password for Mac beta, version 7.7 beta 8. Enables a new seamless login right from the input fields, eliminating one step. I love this! A real time saver, and this beta works perfectly.

If by any chance you have the original Big Sur beta installer file, you can restore and keep using that if you wish.

Sadly, I have to give up on Big Sur Beta 6. It is so buggy, it's what I would have expected from a pre-release Alpha version, not a soon-to-be-released beta. The two biggest problems I have come across so far --
  1. Every now and then many processes go into overdrive, using up all the CPU and effectively freezing the computer. The only solution is to force the computer to shut down. I haven't been able to work out exactly what causes it, but it tends to happen when I switch from one process (i.e. the Finder) to another (perhaps System Preferences).
  2. SMB doesn't work at boot up. According to this thread you can fix it by running this command --
    Code:
    sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext
but I find that I have to run it each time I reboot.
I have installed it twice now, on two different SSDs, with the same result.

If you are on BS Beta 5, then stay there for the moment.

XCOM 2 : War of the Chosen no longer works on beta 7 (at least on the 2020 iMacs with 5700XT). Graphics are all glitching out. Was working fine prior. Reported both to Apple and Feral. Good thing I have Bootcamp :/

I find that the latest beta for AdGuard worked in beta 5 and 6. It turned off a lot in previous versions but been okay since for me.
Not sure why or how, but AdGuard is now back to working for me after not working / working but causing pages to stop loading / to now working fine again.

EDIT: Works, then stop working. Maddening.

Has anybody else had problems with opening .iso disk image files on BS ß6?
Some I can open, but others I can't. I get the message 'No mountable file systems'.

Even disk image files that I have created myself on a mac, I can't open.
I have verified that I can open those files under Catalina, so the files are good. It's just a problem with Big Sur. A good example is Win10_2004_EnglishInternational_x64.iso downloaded from the Microsoft web page. No problems opening on Catalina, but can't on Big Sur. (Like the initial Apple announcement, I keep on typing Bug Sur. I'm thinking it's more appropriate than I expected...)

Anybody have any ideas?

And now for something completely different.
Just this afternoon, in a spirit of idle experimentation, I decided to see if the SheepShaver Classic (68k) Mac emulator would work.
And it did. Running System 9, and some of my old favourites like More 3.1 and MacWrite Pro.
We have problems with modern software, but can run stuff that is nearly 30 years old.
I'm not sure we are advancing here...

Firefox is not populating user login info when accessing the website. No issue with Catalina and yes, I checked the login info is saved in Firefox. Other than that no other major problem that haven't already been addressed here.

Adobe Audition CC is finally working normally again! All the colors in the multitrack are finally just looking how they should. I tested it right after installing the latest Beta update and it was still broken (or so I recall) but Adobe must have pushed out some update that fixed it. Finally.

On a different note, I still can't get Google File Stream to work normal (and I haven't even tried backup and sync again). I realize one of the latest updates worked for most, but I still have it sending me to get security permissions and the "allow google" button never appears. Drives me crazy; I have no idea why it's not working for me

New problem. In Firefox if I have more than 2-3 tabs open, I am unable to close the tabs past the third one, sometimes even past the 2nd one. I have to find the tab that I can close and start clearing the tabs from that point.

I use macOS native VPN (System prefs > network...) to make a Cisco IPSec VPN connection. This is stable on Catalina. On Big Sur it's hit or miss (with DNS). This is what I observe:
  • I'm consistently able to get Connected
  • Resolving named addresses is the part that seems to be hit or miss. When I connect to VPN but then cannot reach URLs, I tested that I am able to ping internet IPs, just not named servers. I cannot find any pattern when it works or when it does not, it's just by trying several times to reconnect until it works
  • nothing is logged to /var/log/ppp.log nor I can find any related logs
  • output of 'scutil --dns' looks ok and is same when working vs. not working
Meanwhile, I have another L2TP VPN configuration that remains stable on Big Sur and it does log to /var/log/ppp.log

I'd appreciate any pointers, so far I have not found a solution nor a workaround other than reconnecting until it works.

Please add Roboform password manager to Partially Working. The app runs and works fine. But the Safari browser plug-in crashes Safari every time....
Thanks,
Rich

Mozilla are aware.

I'm having other issues probably related to this, but with native Apple apps. Something with going full-screen (or zoom) whereby controls within the title bar mess up.

A workaround for Firefox is to go into menu Customise... and tick (bottom left) to show the Title Bar. It looks horrid to me but pushes the tab bar down so that it works.

Thanks, the Title Bar trick works like a charm.

I checked the list but didn’t see it. Does anyone use good sync and can confirm if it works or not?
