Well, I finally bit the bullet last night and upgraded my main OS from Catalina to Big Sur 11.1 Final.
Me, being the ever so slightly paranoid person I am, had a Time Machine backup, as well as a whole Carbon Copy Cloner backup of my drive onto another volume, and a second CCC backup of my Users folder onto another drive.

So I update, and all seems well. My copy of Ulysses markdown editor doesn't work any more, but I never really liked it anyway, and Markdown Composer works almost perfectly, and Typora does work perfectly.

Anyway, I am pottering around, and Feedback Assistant pops up (it appears that it was installed during the upgrade), telling me that there is another update to Big Sur Beta, this time to 11.2.

What gives Apple? So many updates in such a short time? At this rate we'll be up to macOS 12 before Easter...

Are you on the Beta cycle, or the Final Release cycle. You will only see 11.2 if your system is enrolled in the Apple Customer Seed (i.e. Beta) Program.
Not on beta cycle, as I just downloaded V11.1 on Monday and did a fresh, clean installation. But if a Beta V11.2 is starting to be worked on, no surprise. I suspect there are still some bugs in V11.1, although I am not having any issues.

I currently have two copies of Big Sur running, one on the Release version and one on the latest Beta.

New version of LibreOffice, V7.0.4.2, was released:

I already downloaded and installed it within my Big Sur "environment, and can't notice anything different. Some folks previously stated there were some issues with V7.0.3. If any of those folks could check out this latest version and see if any of those issues remain, that would be helpful.

Also, new version of Thunderbird, V78.6..0, was released earlier today:

Also downloaded and installed it, and the minor "annoyance", at least when I use it with Big Sur, is gone.

Note, though, that there is no mention of specific Big Sur compatibility. For Thunderbird, there is a beta version, V84.0.2, that is in development, and has shown promise of being compatible. But I am not experiencing any issues.

My widgets aren't working. Specifically, weather and stocks. Weather says I don't have location services enabled when I in fact do have that enabled.

Anyone know if EmmGunn's video suite - MKVtools, etc - is Big Sur compatible? I can't find anything online and none of my requests from them regarding compatibility have been returned.

No, it doesn't work. It says that it is too old, and there is no current beta version.

So, after updating my main HDD (Fusion Drive) to 11.1, it appears that rEFInd no longer works. It worked ok while I kept Big Sur to external drives, but as soon as I updated the main HDD, it broke.
I am micturated...

My HP Envy 5000 printer isn't working on Big Sur. So sorry I updated! I can print from my 12 Pro. Spent a lot of time messing with the printer settings and the printer wasn't the problem.

For mikecwest: Kindle for Mac 1.30 crashes under Big Sur Update (macOS 11.1). Reported it to Amazon and Apple. For a work-around I am rebooting into Mojave and using Kindle 1.23.

Re rEFInd. I was able to disconnect all other drives, re-install rEFInd, and now it works.
Since the upgrade to Catalina and the firmware update that came with it, access to the EFI partition gets over written easily.
Now, once I have gotten rEFInd working, I reboot to get into Linux or Windows, and hold the Option Key down to select MacOS. Not as easy as it used to be, but it works.

X Lossless Decoder (XLD) not working for me. It says it's from unidentified developer and won't open app. Has anybody managed to run it on Big Sur?

Latest version downloaded from Sourceforge.

XLD version 20201123 (153.0) opens for me.

Suggest: Go to /Applications in Finder, right click (or control click) on XLD, choose open and answer the prompts to get it running.

Having made the full switch to Big Sur 11.1 on my main Fusion drive, and having gotten rEFInd working again, I have noticed that Time Machine and CCC now work much faster than they used to. First Time Machine took about 90 mins to do a full backup, as against 3~4 hours previously. Similarly CCC took 80 mins as against 90~120 mins for a complete cloning. Time Machine is backing up to a freshly formatted APFS volume, I don't know if that is making any difference.

Well, new version of Big Sur (11.1), new version of LyX, and I still have to remove it from quarantine with --
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/LyX.app

It's not really a problem, I only have to do it once each update, but I wonder what is going on. This is the only application I have to do this with.

It is most likely that the vendor does not perform the "notarization" process for the app.

Could have been the version that I had, but it took 2x control-click for XLD to offer the open button for me. First one just offered to chuck it in the trash as if I had just tried to open normally. Updated to latest version and XLD is also working fine here.
