Please click EDIT below to add your working or NOT working app. Please try to add it alphabetically. Feel free to also comment in a reply any additional details you would like to share.
Can I add Virtualbox not working, tried just about every note I've found. it does not allow you to create a host network, even if you remove all network cards... and then try and start it it complains about the known Kernel driver not installed rc=1908 error, that I don't seem to be able to fix.

Hi, Virtualbox version 6.1.2 is not working, the same problem with the others version (beta included), the program install but when you try to run the VM appears a kernel error.
I'm still battling with this. anyone been able to clean their system, and fresh install VirtualBox and it works,

hmmmmm, that does not bode well for VirtualBox.
ok, hard question, what other option do I have, does Parallel's work, can/will it read work on my box files, or what about VMFusion. I need to get this working, as much as I love VBox.. and it's for free, if they can fix this (and they had time to get this done during Beta) then I need to look at other options.

For those having issues with Google File Stream, this worked for me on Big Sur beta 2 and DriveFS Version: 40.0.8.0. Give it a try if you have sudo powers.

To get Google Drive File Stream running in Big Sur beta, run the following commands in a Terminal:
Bash:
sudo kextload "/Applications/Google Drive File Stream.app/Contents/MacOS/dfsfuse.kext"

1>/dev/null 2>/dev/null /Applications/Google\ Drive\ File\ Stream.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Drive\ File\ Stream &

Unfortunately this workaround does not currently work on M1 Mac mini:

"Incompatible architecture: Binary is for x86_64, but needed arch arm64e"

VMware Fusion works well for me and it is free for personal use. There are few issues (see VMware Fusion Community Forum), but these mostly seem to be edge cases.

I have not done a VirtualBox to Fusion move, but I understand you need, in VirtualBox, to export the vm to an ova file which can be imported into Fusion. See:
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2053864 and https://www.vembu.com/blog/migrate-vms-from-virtualbox-to-vmware/

Glad to hear about VMFusion free for non commercial saw the $179 price tag, compared to Parallels which is $79...
will relook at the license notes.
hmm, see if i can do that => OVA conversion, as my VBox atm is useless, hope it will at min still allow me to do this.

I see only the VMFusion player allows for registration for personal use, the player implying I can not edit my self created VM's. looks like this is a feature limited to the pro option that I don't see offering a register for personal usage. Am I missing something.

Ignore the “player” name. VMWare changed their level names to match what they were doing on Windows and made it confusing for everyone. You can absolutely edit VMs in the free version. There are fewer features than the Pro version but there are only a couple, and unless you use those specific features, you’ll be good on the free version.

There is also a commercial version of the Player which costs less than the Pro version, if you need it for commercial use, but it’s the exact same features as the free version, so unless you have commercial needs, go free.

downloaded, installed. its failing to import the ova though, tried ova 1.0 and 2.0 now.
Will retry/relook at the links shared above.

thanks. I used Fusion way back with my first MAC, liked it, but at the time worked for Oracle when they got VirtualBox and we all just swopped.

As you say ignore the player name - for the Mac version. The licensing and naming is now the same for Windows and Mac desktop products, but the feature set of the Mac 'Player' is much better than that for Windows 'Player'.

You can create your own VMs with Player, run them as a normal OS, install, update, copy to another volume, change RAM, CPUs, etc.

This page lists the differences between VM Fusion Player and VM Fusion Pro

Out for the morning, will have a look again this afternoon. thanks.
My primary usage is Visio, a old copy I own... and work in extensively. got the VM running with parallels yesterday, but as we now know parallels is $$$ and Fusion is not... so... found i can not export from vBox and import into Fusion, but did find the Parallels was able to open my VBox VM direct, it then made a copy, that copy i was able to then open in Fusion. heheheh hop skip jump,....

but for some reason Visio wants to be re-activated now and it now is only wanting to do online or phone, not allowing me to simply enter my key... as such it's opening the drawing, but not allowing me to edit it.

so Visio is not wanting to re-activate itself, even though I have a key. it seems to have picked up that the machine previously a Virtualbox VM is now not.

For future reference, the phone activation is annoying but not a big deal - you call, they send you a link for your phone, then you enter a really long set of numbers into your phone, and they give you a really long set of numbers that you enter into the app on your computer. They will also ask you how many machines you have the software installed on. At no point do you have to speak to an actual human, and you never sit on hold.

I don't know that there's a way to avoid this when going from one type of VM to another, but when moving VMs around with VMware, it will ask if you've copied or moved the VM. If you say you've moved it, you won't have to re-verify any of the software. If you say you've copied it, you will. So only say "copy" if you actually want to have multiple copies.

Had one glitch yesterday that, in the overall scheme of things, isn't major but still troubling. When I finally updated the wifes tcMP yesterday, all the "most visited" bookmarks were gone, this is in Firefox, when all was up and running. They were just gone and we had to go through and find those sites again and repopulate the "most visited" folder. On my mini and iMac this did not occur and we are all running Firefox v84.0.

Any thoughts?

Wanted to give a "progress" report about my third party apps and V11.1 of Big Sur:

1. As most folks know, V3.9.1 of Onyx for Big Sur was released on Monday. Works fine, as expected.
2. LibreOffice is fine. Have only printed a couple of Writer documents so far, and no issues. 12 pt font looks a little smaller (maybe perception?), but still OK.
3. VueScan works fine.
4. Although an update for Thunderbird is close (2nd version of the latest beta was released on November 24th, am using the last non-beta version, and except for minor glitch, it's working well.
5. Have not seen any reports here of any issues with all but 2 of my third party apps. Those 2, of course, are SuperDuper! and Tech Tool Pro. No issues reported yet, but they are not yet compatible, and definitely not a good idea to try them.

Just found out, via another Mac discussion site, that a new version of EasyFind, V5.0.1, was released yesterday. I had V5.0, and this new version is not, per se, specific to Big Sur. The main changes are 1) adds support for Apple Silicon Macs, and 2) now requires El Capitan or later. I've downloaded and installed it in both of my environments, and as expected, works fine. One can get it form here:
