Can someone spell out how to increase the texture/quality settings in the config file?
Thanks.

Anything you can tell me about mine Blair?

Unfortunately, the limitation you are having is the CPU in the MBA. BI is both CPU and GPU heavy and 1.3-1.7 doesn't cut it. Notice the PC mins call for a 2.4 as well. So its actually not the HD5000 holding you up. I expect the 5000 will have no issues with Infinite once its coupled with the MBP or Mini in the future.

That said...I have heard reports of MBA's performing acceptably when loaded up with RAM, but I havent seen it personally yet.

Do you guys take into consideration that the processor has turbo boost up to 2.3 ghz?

I too am terribly disappointed in the performance of Bioshock Infinite. The mouse movement is very jerky and the video is not very smooth.

I have completed this game under BootCamp with no issues but it looks like i will have to wait for Mavericks to get the performance hit that it needs on OSX.

I am playing on a brand new 12 core 3.06GHz Mac Pro with a Radeon 7950 3GB GPU and 32GB RAM. I have not tried it on my 2012 MBP yet but at present I consider it unplayable.

Overall very disappointed with the OSX version.

Yep. I have an 8 Core Mac pro with the 7950 that plays this game at a near flawless 60 fps under bootcamp. Under OSX it's slooooooow even in simple areas like right at the start in the rowing boat.

Having looked at a few benchmarks including http://www.barefeats.com/ for the 7950, the card seems to be a real let down in the majority of tests.

Knowing how powerful the card is in Windows, it seems that drivers might be the root cause. Once those get sorted(hopefully), and Mavericks rolls out with full support for at least OpenGL 4.1 things should get much better.

I'm having similar issues with my iMac, under Mavericks (13A569). Video is freezing every 3-10 seconds (audio continues real-time), and is utterly unplayable.

My iMac is no slouch, and far exceeds the requirements (3.4GHz i7, 20GB RAM, 2GB 6970M and a SSD).

I'm hoping it's just an optimization with Mavericks thing, and it'll be fixed in a subsequent update via Steam. If not, I've wasted $40.

This is why I wish there was a demo available for pc/mac games, to see if the game runs well enough. I was going to preorder but then remembered I didn't have a good experience with Borderlands 2 on my 2010 iMac.

I forgot to mention on my previous post that I actually uninstalled the game and redowloaded from the start.

Now the game plays fairly smooth at 1440x900 in normal settings. It was much better and i can say playable than my original experience.

So yeah something weird must have happened the first time i downloaded the game.
Are you sure it's not the SMC clearing? Also, are you playing through the same portion of the game you were going through before? Asking because you could simply be in a less visually intensive section now.

I'd like to reiterate that currently the 7950 is not supported due to a very specific driver issue. Once those drivers are ironed out, you should have top tier performance from a top tier card. #blairisjealous

Now this is an issue. We've seen nearly flawless performance from this beast of an iMac. It's actually the machine that the QA lead for the project tests on. Have you started a support ticket with us yet?

Please do so! Our team should be able to dig into this for you, as you should NOT be seeing issues on the 6970M.

Hi Blair,

I haven't opened a support ticket - I didn't think Apsyr would be very helpful with a pre-release OS.

Should I open it through general support, or is there a specific place I should direct it?

Dangit, that's my bad...you totally mentioned you were running the Mavericks seed. Correct, we wont let the support team dig into pre-release OS's for obvious reasons.

That said...I'll work with the QA lead today and find out if we are seeing anything weird on that config in our Mavericks sweeps. I'm pretty sure they are working on DLC right now in 10.8, so they might not have come across it yet. I'll PM you with any news.

Νο SMC reset was needed. Same portion of the game, in fact exact same spot, just had to redownload the game. Dont know why though.

Still, I am expecting an improvement in due course. In certain parts of the game (Soldiers Field for example) the framerate is very very poor.

On a whim I redownloaded via Steam. It's working fine on Mavericks, no idea why redownloading it made a difference.

Looking forward to the full resolutions coming soon.

That is weird. I have noticed quite a bit of Steam updates going through lately, and at least one of our titles was effected severely (COD4 MP crashing). Regardless, glad you got it up and running!:apple:

Do we have any ETA on when we can expect to be able to adjust the game to our desired resolution and texture quality. My specs are as per my signature. I had no trouble at all playing the game at a higher resolution with everything maxed (res, textures, lighting etc). However I was only able to make these adjustments by tweaking the .ini files. It's a laborious process having to repeat this, especially when steam pushes an update on the game.

We dont have a target date yet, but we are definitely working on it. We are shooting for the Mavericks launch or soon after. Glad you were able to crank everything on your rig! Reading some of the sigs on this thread is giving me serious rig envy.:apple:

Unfortunately, it seems that it wasn't a complete fix. After playing for a few hours, it's now doing the exact same thing again. A restart seems to briefly improve things, but then it starts stalling again.

It gets much worse when an on-screen prompt comes up - Elizabeth offering ammo/health, or an AI tip, etc.

Sounds great, thanks for the reply. It looks beautiful at the higher settings, I'll post some images later. Do you intend to include the games benchmark tool at any point?

Can anyone who has Mac version of the BI downloaded through Steam confirm/deny if the game can be started by just going to a steam folder where it was downloaded, and running an executable from there? I know some Mac games downloaded through steam allow for this (The Cave for example) so you don't have to start the Steam launcher to play such games.

Nope, won't start. Prompts you to launch through Steam.

This only works if your game does not use DRM. I was flicking through the Steam DRM activation code (for XCOM) looking at options on how it all works. If the game runs without Steam it means you are not using the Steam DRM.

Launching directly without launching Steam also means you will usually not have access to things like the Steam overlay.

Actually i just changed a bunch of settings via config…

i turned textures to high and didnt see much of a performance hit, over normal so i dont know why aspyr doesnt let you change these particular settings.

The framerate is still bad imho, but the performance hit between normal textures and high is not that bad.
What setting do you change exactly in the XUserConfig.ini to enable High textures? Also, have you been successful in setting the resolution higher than 1440x900 on your MBPr?

Could you list exactly what changes you made? Or even, post a copy of your .ini file? Much appreciated!

Ok I answered my own question. Check out this thread: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3101130

You won't want to enable all of that on your rmbp, of course.

Those are the settings I used. However I'm currently waiting for mavericks to finish off the game. I believe this will give me an improved experience, graphically. The gameplay is still great.

I bought Bioshock Infinite when it first came out, but never really played it on my 15" macbook retina. I am now getting a 27" iMac with the i7 processor, 16gb of ram and 780m video card will i be able to play this game maxed out at the highest res?
