I have an iMac 2012 (650m gpu) and the game was running very ok on high under mountain lion. I just upgraded to Mavericks GM and the game is hardly playable under the same settings. I have to downgrade to medium settings. I tested Batman and that game runs flawless, the same for CIV V, so I assume it is something specific for Bioshock.

Works great at full res on my 2012 27" iMac

I have all the settings maxed out, with Vertical Sync, and bumped up the resolution to the full 2560x1440 from the config file. It works great on Mountain Lion, though I have yet to try Mavericks.

iMac - 27" Late 2012
3.4 GHz i7
24 GB RAM
NVIDIA GTX 680MX 2048MB
OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.5

The default resolution is an epic fail on anything but laptops.
No idea what this post means.
Works perfectly for me @ 2560x1440 on my 2011 iMac 3.4GHz i7 16Gb 6970M, as it does for many others, both here and on other forums.

I'm also running on a 12 core 3.06Ghz Mac pro with 7950 and it runs like a slideshow no matter how low I set anything. In Windows it's smooth as silk at 2560x1440 with all settings maxed out.

Is this genuinely something that's going to be addressed, or are 7950 users just doomed as they are such a small market?

See Aspyr's post #28.

I bought Bioshock Infinite through Steam but I can't find the mentioned Library/ to edit any ini.files?

I'm still a Mac newbie so I am still learning how to navigate around files.

Upgraded to Mavericks.

Game is now unplayable, is that the same for everyone and is it because the game needs to be updated for the new opengl ?

Or is it just my machine (retina macbook pro 15")

PS3 Controller with Bioshock

Hi,
I have another question to ask from the users unrelated to Maverick.

I am using PS3 controller with Bioshock and thankfully it works but not the vibrations. I have enabled the vibration feature inside BI but it still doesn't work. Can you please share if it works for you and how?

Thanks.

Works just fine for me. Maybe a retina issue?

Hi, Eddie,

Now that 10.9 is out, do you guys have an ETA for when Bioshock Infinite will be updated to take advantage of the new OpenGL stack?

maybe... in ML the game played just fine, now it seems its quite messed up...

Definitely should not be happening Valkyre. If a reinstall doesnt work, please shout at our support team so they can take a deeper look. Steam or MacApp version?

We are looking at a full update with the Burial at Sea release (which btw is the coolest DLC EVER). It will be interesting to see what we can squeeze out of it in terms of performance. For clarity, Edwin and his talented colleagues at Feral did BioShock 1 and 2 while we at Aspyr did BioShock Infinite.

That all said, we are seeing a slight dip in NVIDIA performance on the release version of Mavericks. Hard to tell with the naked eye, but its there. ATI on the other hand is seeing about a 15% bump, and that is pretty consistent across all of our games.

Clearly a driver issue that we are working hard with NVIDIA and Apple to get ironed out. ATI on the other hand is seeing about a 15% bump, and that is pretty consistent across all of our games.

Blair, thanks for your timely reply. And I'm sorry for confusing you two! :)

As my Mac has the nVidia GT 550M, I'll probably old off a little longer for that bug to be resolved.

Performance of Infinite on my Radeon 6770M is definitely a bit better with Mavericks, but there appears to be a bit more stuttering that occurs right after a save game or level load. It's as if the game is still trying to load in assets/textures. Again, it only happens for a few seconds and once it's gone the game runs fine. Now this was running on an upgraded-from-10.8.5-installation of Mavericks. Perhaps the clean install I'm doing will help. We'll see. Still, the initial results look very promising, and I can't wait to see what Mavericks will allow developers to accomplish that they couldn't in past OS X releases. I'm really hoping Valve will update the Source engine to take advantage of this for improved performance in its games, though I won't hold my breath on that one.

Come on! I want to play Bioshock Infinite at higher resolutions already. What is the point of a 27"iMac with 2560x1440 that only plays at 1600x900, that is a massive upscale. :(

Why don't you just edit the ini file? I finished BI a long time ago on my 27" iMac @2560x1440.

How do you guys think this would run on a mid 2012 maxed out 11" Air running Mavericks?

Not exceptionally well. You could probably get it to run at native resolution but with most detail settings on low.

Check out this YouTube video for the settings and rough idea of what performance would be like on the Intel HD 4000.

Thanks for sharing. Doesn't look too bad to me but I've never played anything like this on a computer. What's your opinion of running the game with those settings? Would I be ok playing it or would be harmful for my laptop since it'll probably be heating up a lot and the fans spinning fast.

I saw my friend play it on his PS3 and loved the story so I really wanna play it but I don't own any consoles or desktop.

Please be aware that the performance under Mavericks with a 650M is very poor. Under ML I could run the game on high on the highest resolution but on Mavericks it stutters and I need to switch back to medium.

The PS3 pad does not have ForceFeedback drivers on OS X. If someone makes some then all Feral games (including BioShock 1 and 2) will support it automagically.

Can't really say as I don't have a similar machine.

The odds of a hardware failure are extremely unlikely. If your temperatures get out of whack, the CPU has built-in mechanisms to slow down to prevent overheating. Should it get to that point, you would have to make an appointment at the Genius Bar or your local Apple authorized service provider.

I read today about the coming DLC and I figured I'd buy the game now. I bought it from Gameagent but the purchase sort of failed (card was charged though)... I'm now hoping that the customer service answers me quickly.

Should've just bought from Steam but it was cheaper in Gameagent...
