Yes. I have BioShock Infinite on Steam and that's how I found out about the update. I'm not sure if the update also hit the App Store.
Yes, it did hit the App Store. All 11Gb of it!!! Whatever happened to MAS going to delta updates?
Took 6 hours to download yesterday, and then failed with an error. So, 3 hours into the re-downlaod today.
What a pain!

Wait a few hours perhaps a day then delta enables. Sometimes delta isn't enabled straight away. Don't know why but I have noticed this before.

Edwin, we've discussed this before. I have never experienced a delta update on MAS - ever.
XCode is always a huge download with every regular update.
Three days after release, the Bioshock update was still 11Gb.
It's one of the reasons to use Steam in my view. Buying large games on MAS is a pain in the a**!

Even after the update it's still unplayably slow using a Radeon HD 7950.

Also all the advanced graphics settings cap at normal. There are no high or ultra options like on the PC.

BioShock Infinite got updated yesterday and it adds additional screen resolutions.

And Burial at Sea Episode 1 is out now!

Hi, I've signed up to see if anyone else is having problems after the update. I was merrily playing without any issues until the update, and now the game is quitting and I cannot proceed.

I've tried lowering the settings back to how I was playing before the update, but this hasn't worked either. I don't know if it's just a point in the game where this issue would have occured anyway, or if the update has caused this.

Don't want to write any story spoilers, so I'll keep it vague! I'm in the Finkton Bank and am about to leave. When I get into the elevator it just crashes... 5 times in a row now.

Anyone else having issues or just me? I've had a google, but nothing's come up so I'm assuming it's me. If I delete it from Steam and reinstall, will my save game still be there? Could be worth a shot.

It runs perfectly for me at 1440p, highest settings, 680mx..

That's to be expected as there were never any issues with that card. We were told that the patch would address the issues we were facing with the HD7950, but nothing has changed. The game is still completely unplayable.

It's silly that the 7950 is having so many issues!

It's purely down to drivers most likely, and that might be in the hands of Sapphire. It's mess that such a powerful card is having these issues, as it's actually a very powerful GPU, for all tasks. Especially OpenCL.

Agreed, its totally weird for biggest baddest card to have the most issues. I can confirm that there are no changes to this card for this update. I'm sorry if I ever stated anywhere that it would definitely be fixed in this update. It is still an ongoing bug that multiple parties are working on.

I really would not call a 7950 the 'biggest baddest card'. I mean first, it's already very close to a 660ti, which is also what the 680mx is. Secondly, there's at least 5-6 desktop cards on the market that blow away a 7950...

Anyway, I would suggest boot camping that 7950 if you want to play bioshock well.

Sorry but in the latest tests and benchmarks the 7950 matches, and sometimes beats the the GTX680. Drivers for it have come a long way, and in OSX it's the best card for OpenCL by a league. The card is just fantastic, it's problem is Sapphire's lacklustre drivers.

I'm quite sure that a normal 7950 flashed with the OS X EFI has far less issues than the Sapphire card.

One would hope with Apple moving towards AMD for their new Mac Pro that they'll also include improved drivers for the 7950, but until that machine ships and the OS X updates appear we'll never know.

In fact it's the only reason I haven't switched from my GTX660 yet, despite the 7950 being far better for my needs. It's horrible OpenGL drivers, and other issues just stop me from touching it.

Why would you hope to move to amd when nvidia currently blows them out of the water in both power and efficiency?

I'm not Hoping, they Are moving to AMD for the new Mac Pro.
AMD FirePro D300, D500, and D700's, are the card in the new Mac Pro.

Also NVIDIA can't even match them in OpenCL, not even close. In fact the Titan can't even keep up in OpenCL against AMD's mid range graphics cards.

Also blows them out of the water is just wrong. The new R9 series is amazing, it's only issues is power consumption and heat.

Something people forget NVIDIA use to be known for until Kepler hit the shelves.
Sure if you're primarily using CUDA, NVIDIA is your only choice. For games though they compete head to head, and you just buy the card that offers the best performance per price, in the games you play most often.

I've been playing PC games for years. Every 2-3 years they switch performance champions. The amd 5000-6000 blew nvidia out of the water, but now nvidia is doing the same.

And benchmarks prove it in both power and energy efficiency.

I've also been playing PC games for years, I'd reckon most people here have.

Have you looked at the R9 290/X cards?

They match and some times beat the Titan at half the price. That's good, and the 7xxxx were stellar cards, and still are. They're just the R9 280X cards now, and match the GTX770 for cheaper.

Besides, this thread is for Bioshock Infinite, and unless you have Mac Pro with an external/optical bay PSU you're Not running anything more powerful than a 7970, or GTX680 in it.

It also doesn't change the fact that Sapphire's drivers need some fixing, or that Apple are moving towards AMD cards in their next Mac Pro.

The new Mac Pros will have AMD FirePro, rather than Radeon cards, though. Slightly different hardware and very different software for those.

The drivers in OSX are strangely the same for both it seems. Quite a few folks with 7870's, and 7950's are getting them detected as D300's, and D700's in Mavericks.

So the drivers are seeing them as similar cards, although physically they will be rather different and be real FirePros. Something I'll be happy for.

It's similar in how the NVIDIA drivers in OSX will run both Quadro and GeForce cards. It's not like with Windows where the consumer and workstation cards have very different drivers.
Even the NVIDIA web drivers will support both GeForce and Quadro, so at the moment there aren't different drivers for the cards. Instead they seem to have a unified set.
Something I wish AMD would supply.

Whether or not that will remain true for when the new Mac Pro launches, we don't know. We'll simply have to wait and see in regards to the breakdown, and reviews of the hardware itself.

Here are some quick comparison links between the Radeon HD 7950 and some competing cards.

Any news on when the fix for this is likely? I just purchased the game and was very disappointed to find I cant actually play it on my mac pro with a 7950.

Its unplayably jerky even at the lowest resolution and lowest graphics settings.

Unfortunately, we have no updates as of today. The bug is currently sitting with AMD/Apple. Per usual, the updated drivers will be included in an OS update. If we see any fixes in a seed, I will certainly update the forum here to let everyone know.

Just to follow up on Blair's post we have seen the exact same issue (caused by the same driver issue) on a few Feral titles, we expect once the drivers are updated both BioShock Infinite and a number of other games will get a large performance boost on certain graphics cards.

Thanks for the update.

I wont expect it anytime soon then!

I downloaded my game on Steam.

How do I located the folder with the config file to manually change the resolution?
(the previous directions are not working for me)

The recent update brought the full screen res list into the normal options, so you shouldn't have to edit the config file any more.
