There's a reason why I've not upgraded from my 12 Pro Max, I'm not paying more money for a phone which doesn't bring any meaningful updates. Like someone else in this thread, I'll more than likely have the battery replaced and make do.

If the camera is important to you, the 15 Pro Max will likely get the periscope lens, which would the biggest camera upgrade in years.

That said, I won't upgrade my 12 Pro Max either, as it works perfectly fine. My wife and I are both on a 4-year upgrade schedule, and our kids get our hand me downs. I'm fine waiting until next year to get a periscope lens.

The dynamic island was the main reasons I went with the 14 Pro. (I've not used the camera bump like I thought I would.) If that comes to the 15, I might downgrade to the non-Pro phone.

This is starting to sound like the best idea tbh.

The 15 pro won’t get the periscope lens either so the base 15 would actually be a better option.

In Canada there's been no price hike, with inflation i'm expecting a price increase, probably $100 USD. Will still buy the 15 pro max. Only year i didnt upgrade was the 11 pro max which i thought was a useless upgrade over the Xs Max. This year the curved design thinner bezels camera update and bigger battery have me sold. I just hope they dont come out with another blue color, getting tired of the pro phones almost always being blue as the 4th color.

Titanium alone would have required the extra $100. May be they will price is $1099 but starting at 256GB Model.

Does that mean yet ANOTHER price hike internationally or will the US simply be aligned to what already happened elsewhere last year?

A company that doesn't consider pricing is, in short, inept.

Anyone who has run any retail shop has deep experience considering prices, so I think this "report" is a simple comment that Apple also considers pricing, costs, and the overall market.

Maybe its too costly to build the Pro models, so Apple is increasing the price to deter users and have them go for the cheaper Plus and standard models instead.

I wouldn't mind a price hike if it was justified , like we were getting something next level for that price...not a periscope lens.

That and 3 years to get paid off. Really only makes sense if trading in older device and plan on keeping the 3 years.

Some carriers (like T-Mobile) spread the inflated trade in credits over two years instead of three. However, when trading out early you can still get some benefit as the trade-in credits are typically applied monthly. If it's a three year deal and you trade out at two years, you would've at least received 2/3rds of the inflated credits.

Maybe they are dropping the 128 models so you would have to pay $100 more for the 256 if you usually buy the 128

Price increases are inevitable, especially as we watch prices for everything around us get 10 to 25% price hikes. Heck my weekly Chinese meal delivered to the door has gone up from $35 to $59, so we can expect this to happen. The real question is whether it has exceeded the value you place on a phone.

For me I jumped off the yearly wagon and look at replacements only every two years or so. This is simply because the year on year changes are too incremental and generic. I still run an 11 Pro Max (my main phone is an 14 Pro Max) as one of my back up phones and it is more than adequate and, indeed, better than the 14 Pro Max in a number of ways (smaller, lighter, easier to hold) and is more than adequate for everything I do (phone, emails, texts, home systems control, bank accounts etc.). I have the 14 Pro Max because it has satellite communications and that is the only reason. I thought I might need it, but it ended up not being useful to me. My bad.

Unless the 15 is lighter, has a longer battery life and is better shaped for my hand, I will give it a pass as those are my personal reasons where there might be some value in an upgrade, otherwise I will wait. The question is whether those benefits, if they come, are worth what Apple will charge at the time. Only you can decide. Apple will soon discover whether their value proposition offered by a new phone fails to meet customer expectations and sales fall. Unlikely I think, but we all make our personal choices and I would not attempt to convince anyone that my personal choices and value I place on a phone should be theirs.

Apple iPhone unit sales numbers have mostly plateaued since 2015. To increase profits and total revenue they have to drive the margins per unit up or/and sell more services. Those are the rules of capitalism.

At some point though, I think many customers will just use their current phone longer and prefer to buy older models. Off course Apple could then cripple old phones artificially, which would be a very bad strategy. I hope it doesn't come to that though soon.

They could make it cheaper by not using stainless steel. It was horrible choice for a phone. Adds nothing but weight and cost.

I remember everyone freaking out when the iPhone crossed the $1,000 mark. And I can see why.

My solution is to buy a $1,000 iPhone and keep it for 3 years. I'm fine with that.

But do you wanna know how much I spend for 3 years of cellular service for that iPhone?

$3,200

Suddenly the price of the hardware isn't really the issue...

🤣
