That's what you get when shareholders are at the helm... Since Steve's death, the company has been run by hedge funds such as Blackrock and Vanguard. What they say goes, Tim Cook is just a puppet used as a smokescreen. Apple's soul died along with Steven unfortunately and is just an ATM for shareholders these days. The website is a mess, the product lines are a mess, software is a mess, the events are nothing more then commercials and the pricetags are outrageous.
And yet today apple is worth $3.03T. And while apple doesn’t care if you like, buy or criticize their products these types of opinions are a dime a dozen.

What does your apple portfolio look like?

No. First world problems is a trillion dollar company wanting more profits and a random person on here attacking another human instead of the greedy corporation. But keep believing they’re your friend.
Well said
in UK will have an extra added price hike no matter what
I really hope not - we got screwed over last year even I was shocked by the price hike

Keep price gauging? iPhone Pro and Pro Max prices have been the same in the U.S. (or even lower if you account for storage increases) since they first launched in 2019.

While 2022 may have been a down year compared to 2021, Apple had record global iPhone sales in 2021.
Same in the USA doesn't mean same outside of USA. In many other countries, prices have actually gone up.

You completely missed the point. The point was not that I'm siding with Apple. The point is that someone complaining they can't update a flagship phone every year is the epitome of first world problems. That would have been true 10 years ago too.

Me personally, I was born in and have always lived in a “first world” country. So of course I have first world problems.

The prices in Europe etc. are based on the US price, but adding VAT, currency exchange and a few percent (probably to insure them against currency fluctuations, because the prices are normally not changed except when new products launch).

The EUR/USD ratio was very unfavourable last year, which is why iPhones are now very expensive in Europe (the cheapest iPhone 14 is over 1000 euro). Since then, the euro has appreciated a lot, so if anything iPhone prices might drop a little if USD prices remain the same. (We saw that with the new MacBook Air for example.)

Apple Job: We only update price when EURO is weak and hope you like it.

You gotta love Apple. Already raised prices here in Europe when the Euro got weak ... But doesn't think for a second to lower it back now that the dollar has lost 15%. Same strategy as always, nice extra bonus in addition to the "normal" price hikes.
If Apple can sell their iPhone like gatcha/lootbox game selling their in-game items through pulling, they surely will jump the ship and never look back. Fortunately, they are not doing that, just yet.

Anyone defending megacorp has no sense, even if They hold their stock. Every customer to Apple is just a mere database entry. Why bother? Apple won’t die because you die. Why defend?

Which is why I clearly stated "prices have been the same in the U.S." I made the comment becasue the person I had responded to also listed their location as being in the U.S.

This is 100% all about how far can Apple try the patience of even their most die-hard disciples before even they go 'nah, not this time, thanks'.

Under the direction of Tim Crook, Apple has 100% re-positioned itself from being a brand that made trailblazing solutions for society's non-conformists to being a manufacturer of expensive toys for the elite. And sure, it's been financially successful for them, and their shareholders surely hail him as some kind of second Messiah. But that doesn't make it ethical.
Ethics dont exist in company‘s dictionary. In fact, outside of money, nothing else matters to any megacorps on the planet, regardless of what they say and what they do. If there’s a way for Apple to gain 300% profit margin, they will go that way, at all costs.

Yes, eventually some will stop buying expensive new iPhone when price Goes out of their hand, but to get Apple Lowering the price back to an acceptable level would mean Apple has to raise the price so high that only a couple thousand people on the planet can afford, which, I don’t see them doing. This also means it is extremely likely for Apple to keep raising the price as long as millions of die hard Apple fans keep sending their hard earned cash in order to own the shiniest gadget every year.

Dreading what the Canadian prices will reach.
Will be moving on from an 8-plus that I got just before my daughter was born - some sentimental value to it. Served me well.

I want the pro… but will settle for the regular if the prices are ridiculous.

At least bump the base storage Tim!

This is quite frustrating. I've decided to stop upgrading my iPhone every year; it seems like a bad strategy for Apple. I recently paid 1,479€ for the base iPhone 14 Pro Max here in France. I can't justify another price increase, especially when the price is now reaching the territory of the Macbook Pro.
Tim Cook said once something to the effect of that "users keep their iPhones for longer and use them for so many things, that if you actually divide the new, increased, price by the number of days of use you get something like a price of a cup of coffee, which should be more than acceptable."

My point is, I don't think many users are upgrading annually any more. No judgement, but e.g. from my perspective it is pointless and a waste (of money and perfectly good electronics). One of the rationales for increasing prices is that iPhones got so powerful that they keep being used for longer and longer, so to this should be reflected in prices if Apple wants to keep that revenue stream.

People keep paying more and more for power and capability they will not even come remotely to using.

Kinda like buying a McLaren and only using the cup holders…
Doesn't work quite like that. Most of us - and I'll include myself here - don't really need a phone with greater processing power than an iPhone 6S. Other than the proportion of people who MUST have 'new shiny' every year, the rest of us are forced to upgrade to a device we don't need the full power of because of the enforced obsolescence of our old devices.

Exactly, guilty as charged, I love macOS and iOS so therefor I'm bound to Apple. But won't buy everything that comes out though. Got an iPhone 12 which wil be fine for a few more years and an iMac 5k 27inch from 2017 and must last a few more years until they come up with a replacement for it. Then a 13" MBP from 2015 that is due to be replaced shortly but I await a good deal for that. My only way to "protest" against Apple is to use its devices as long as possible.

If Apple plans to raise the price of the Pro iPhones, they should wait until the 16 Pros next year. If you believe all the rumors, that is the pro iphone that is going to get the major upgrades, not the 15 pros this year.
