I'm curious as to why all the photos are dated 2009?

Oh boy.

Have fun with that.

Seriously could have bought a 3.1, this way you’re going to need a new loom, new memory cage, new cpu cover, new northbridge heatsink, new/adjust PSU, possibly new cpu heatsinks (iirc the 1.1/2.1 sensors won’t work on a 3.1 board so you’ll have screaming fans)
And countless more problems.

The automotive analogy for this project is "trying to put a Pinto engine in a Corvair".

Why?

I know, as I ordered all those parts. except for the PSU, and the sensors.. as for the loom.. Do I only need PS1. PS2, PS3, and PS4...

The photos are dated because I never changed the date on my camera....

Pins on the CPU socket 1 are now fine..

I know, as I've ordered all those parts (Pretty cheap too). Except for the PSU, and the sensors.. as for the loom.. Do I only need PS1. PS2, PS3, and PS4..Because I have ordered them..

Oh, it ain't a hard project, as I've done harder things than this (You'll see)....

It may not be hard in your eyes. Pointless maybe.

I have no idea what your question is, you keep asking it to several people and made another thread too, I can however tell you that your 2006 loom will fry the 2008 board.
Replace it.

My question is (It's easy but forget it)... I guess that I'll need PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 (They go to the Power supply)..But not the loom that's at the bottom of the case, as I'll leave that in place... You SEE, I won't be using the 2006 loom at all... so I've answered my question...

And it ain't pointless, because you can't get a nice 2008 Mac on eBay, as most are scratched bad or case is damaged (I should know because it took 3 PPC cases before I got one that didn't get damaged during shipping), and I wanted put my PPC Quad into a better looking case (Which I did).. The Mac Pro that I bought is like new..Which is pretty rare these days, so why not do a project to fit a 2008 Logic board into a new looking case.. The case will even have the four standoffs to hold the Memory cage in place (No crappy job doing that)...

Right, so you mean the four cables that run to the top left of the logic board.

The 2006 And 2008 PSUs have two different part codes. That tells me they are not identical in terms of rails and output.
While the sockets and plugs may fit, the cables may provide differing or inappropriate voltages. You’ll probably blow the board.

Yep your right that's why I bought the 4 top 2008 cables and I'll order a 2008 PSU too..

And don’t you think that with all that (and yet more to come) that this project isn’t all that smart?
I mean

Option 1. Buy a 2008 model.

Option 2. Buy a 2006 model in good condition, then proceed to completely gut it of all the useful parts, epoxy threads in the case to mount incompatible cages, replace every single cable, purchase basically an entire 2008 catalogue of parts, fit them as best you can and then still possibly have thermal issues down to incompatible sensors on heatsinks, front panel board and etc etc.

Look, I’m all for getting my hands dirty, I built a complete Mac Pro from parts 8 years ago (https://www.flickr.com/photos/55006410@N08/albums/72157625060453931) and while I’m no expert, I’d say I know my way around a mac or two.

I wish you the best of luck in this endeavour but I see nothing worthwhile here.

I understand you. But no harm in doing this project for myself eh??? (Can't turn back now, as I've ordered all the parts).. But I ain't replacing the cable at the bottom of the case, as my gut feeling it's the same as the 3.1 one. or the front PCB assembly (Front switch)

The lower cables should be fine. The front panel board has a different part number so I’m not sure if it’s a revised part.

You’ll also need to get new fans, and cut a hole in the aluminium near the PSU, the 2008 wiring loom is shorter than the 2006, and won’t route behind the dvd drives normally.

Ok. I will be using 2008 fans..But I've had no luck, so far in finding the 3,1 PSU fan (Only 1,1 ,and 2,1 ones), as for the top wring loom I'll come pair the 1,1 ones to to 3,1 and see If I can make the 1,1 the same connections, as the 3.1 one.. You see I have had success at removing pins from those type of connectors with the wire still attached (I used a knitting pin to bend the tabs in), so I can pull them out....

Oh, I see what you mean. J3, and J4 coming out of the PSU are sorter than J1, and J2. if that's the case then the cables that plug into them I'll make longer (Ain't that hard to do)

Oh, Again.. Do you know the part number for the PSU fan...

I can't believe I'm reading this. I sold my "like new" 3,1 on Craigslist last year for like, $150. Was glad to get rid of it as it was seriously aged for video editing and gaming. Slowwwwww.

But to see how much effort and time you're going throuh to build one from scratch is just...I done know.

I don't really care LOL...

Thanks..

Dell T5500, 2 Exon 3.33 GHz Processors (12 cores 24 threads) , 48GB ram, 2 Geforce 1070 video cards (SLI), 256GB SSD (Windows 10 Enterprise), 2TB SSHD, and 1100 watt PSU (Taken from a Dell T7500) you see I put this Monster PC together myself (Dell parts)..Oh I'm thinking changing the processors to 3.46GHz ones....

yep your right, as they should say "Enjoy your project" ..No negative thoughts please..Because I thought of sharing my project build with you all.. Thanks..

Oh, All the other parts should come next week, and I will take pics of the build, as I go along..

Oh, one thing..Can a video card that's in a Mac1,1 work a 3,1 Model..

Depends on the card I would guess.
I have a couple of cards that work in both machines.

Ok.. My Mac will have (2) 3.2 GHz processors coming.. But I can install a SSD from one of my PC'S, and have 16GB ram on order too. Also, thank god that I ordered a 2008 PSU. Because I see that the the fan will be inside the PSU unit and not (Like the 1,1).. Which is in a bulkhead screwed to the PSU, so because the power cables are on the outside..I'll have no problem getting the four ones that plug into them reaching the Logic board...

Oh, what video cards would you recommend (Not a flashed one, as that's way ahead for me to do)... I do have a G-force FX 5400 (512GB) in my PPC Quad. Will that work in a 2008 Mac Pro..

This is my first Mac that didn't get damaged during shipping (It came in it's original box)...Because I bought a PPC Quad (Working great).. But the top handles got badly bent and the sides popped out too. Another 2 cases ended up the same way, and they where empty), so in a nut shell... The old Mac aluminum cases are hard to ship without getting damaged unless they come in original box.. In the end, the last PPC case that I received (I transferred all the Quads guts into it) .. I was able to clamp the sides back, and use rivets to holed them in place (The other 2 cases handles were to badly damage to try a repair), so I left them outside for the trash man to take away...

You sure about that 5400 model number. Search and Google finds absolutely no hits to that model.

Oh, Well it's the top-of the-line one in a PPC Quad (512GB), as for my 2008 Mac project.. I just Finished a cutting away a chunk of metal from the top PSU fan Bracket (At the back), so the PSU wires will pass through, and what a job that was even using my dremel tool (so I looks like the 2008 one) You see it can't be removed, so I had to get inside the case to do it, and I went through 8 cutting discs LOL.. But it's done.. Now I had to order a reel of that sticky black wiring tape (Cloth)...

That would be a G-force FX 4500 (512GB), and due to having PPC Firmware will not work OOTB in a MacPro.
Someone with more knowledge then I might confirm it could maybe be flashed to work in a MacPro.
I only say this because there are MacPro versions of this card available.

Look what the postie man brought to my door today (Yeah). More Mac 2008 parts. The front fans, ram risers , 16GB memory and the three heat-sinks (Which I must say look like new). I'm still waiting on the 2 CPU's (3.2HGz), wiring loom, PSU fan, PSU unit, Top heat sink cover, back wiring loom cover, top senser (Behind the DVD drive) and the front I/O board (Has a different part number to the 1,1 one, But I have added all the rubber things to the underside of the logic board (markings were there), and have started to JB Weld in the standoffs to the plate that I cut out (For the Memory cage), so now there's no turning back to the old Mac Pro 1,1 (Gone passed the point of no return), and welcome the new Mac Pro 2008 that'll be on my desk (Along side My PPC Quad)....

Oh, Anyone with negative comments..Please keep them to yourself.. Thanks....
