No, call them! We did, we spoke to an AppleCare manager and he saw there was a problem since we have two iPads with the same issue.both out of warranty. They already replaced one and we are just waiting for the other to ship to the store. If people keep calling, warranty or no, maybe they will acknowledge the issue formally and it will become less spotty for for people to get help from apple.
I ended up calling to let them know that I wanted the case formally logged but I did not escalate up to a manager. I will try calling again to push the issue.
