Another bright spot to report here. It's pretty close to the center of the screen, which is why it's especially annoying. Bought directly from Apple in October 2017, still covered by the aforementioned European warranty law, so I guess I'll bring it in soon. I wonder for how long they'll have refurbished ones in stock as an exchange for defective devices?

Just happened randomly? Any pic?

Just got my refurb/"Renewed" iPad Pro 10.5 today from Amazon and immediately noticed a small white spot where everyone else is seeing it. Manufactured date of 4.24.17, batt capacity is 93.9%. Looks like I have 90 days to return it. I guess my biggest concern is getting another one with the same issue. Will say though the spot is pretty small. Does it get worse over time?

I do not think this gets worse over time. Just annoying. I decided to upgrade to the 2018 iPad Pro 11 inch 1TB with 6GB of RAM.

Just an update about my iPad Pro 10.5. Went to the Apple Store (Montreal) today to see what they can do about the bright spot. Showed the reprentative the bright spot, he checked and my iPad was out of warranty for 280+ days without Apple Care. He then checked if this was covered by the extended warranty and nothing. He told me to call 1-800-MYAPPLE to see if they can do anything. He said in some case, they could flag my iPad's serial number and I might be able to get a replacement when I go back in store. So I suggest everyone in this forum that have the same issue to call that number so they would be aware if this issue. By the way, it would cost 599$ to have the iPad Pro 10.5 256gb replaced.

Still have AppleCare+ (until Sep) at moment don't have bright spot but am really worried about it. I read that excess for AppleCare+ is £39. Do they in this case just give you another refurb iPad or do they fix yours?

I'm just thinking that if it's a replacement refurb it will also have a new battery in it, although my battery seems ok, but 1.5 years of use it's not at is best so would get a new battery as well? Or do they replace your screen on your iPad?

How do you know what the battery capacity is? iPad don't have this only iPhone. If your using an app, I did on an iPhone using an app before it did it natively, took it to an Apple store and the value was different reported. So I'm not sure if these apps report the same.

Coconut Battery on MacOS.
Ah yes remember now, I'm sure I did this for iPhone or iPad once and the Apple store Tech had a different result. I'll check tonight on my iPad, is it just the free version you use?

And that's what I'm worried on, wonder if I should use a AppleCare+ excess, £39 to get another? I'm presuming you get a replacement iPad pro which would mean a new battery and hopefully newer iPad pro than I currently have which is manufactured in 2017?

Thanks

Has anyone found a solution?
Count me in as one of the ‘victims”.
I have an ipad pro 10.5” and just noticed a bright spot.
I’m about 6 mo out of warranty but supposedly still under EU’s 2-year warranty law.
However, I sense that Apple will make my life miserable if I try to enforce my right and get their defective product fixed or replaced using that law.

Is there any official word from Apple? This issue has become to widespread and too serious to be ignored by Apple.
Doesn’t any freaking Apple guy read this? Can’t they let us know how we should proceed for all use who are out of the 1 year warranty?

After 10 years of being a die-hard Apple fan, supporter and owner of their products, the company continues to push me away. If they don’t stand behind their products on this case, this will be really sad.

PS: I was planning to buy the 11” but things may be even worse with the new bendgate.
Can someone help?
I guess Apple dudes only care about their stock price and won’t give a damn that they created ****** products and that we have to pay the price.

Just want to mention that I had this problem out of warranty, like many of you. I’m happy to report that I was just given a replacement iPad today at the Apple Store.

2017 iPad Pro 10.5 bought at Best Buy in the US. Noticed bright spot 1 inch about the home button about 2 months after warranty expired. Took in today to get repair estimate since I was going to have warranty repair covered by my credit card extended warranty before hitting the two year mark when that option will expire.

The Apple Store tech was about to process the repair estimate for the screen when I asked him if he typically sees the amount of light bleed from the edges I was also having (less impressive than the bright spot I obviously had, but something I had noticed on mine after playing around with the floor models.)

When I mentioned that, he pressed on the screen and noticed some distortion that was present. He took it to another tech in the back, ran a diagnostic, then offered me a refurb replacement iPad at no cost. He said that my screen was suffering from battery swelling and that it was covered under an apple replacement plan for 3 years from the date of purchase (even though the manufacturers 1 year warranty had expired).

Im obviously super happy. I highly recommend that you ask the Apple Store about possible battery swelling if you take it in. There is some diagnostic they can run. Maybe you’ll get lucky like I did.

Hopefully this is the end of me checking this thread daily. Good luck everyone. Wish I took mine in sooner.

Just found out I also have this issue... Manufacture date was 2017-07-03 and I bought it around the same time that summer. Out of warranty. I really hope Apple does sth abt it... I really don't want to pay the $499 price

Me, too.
So I contacted Apple in my country.
Although I didn't get a satisfying answer in the style 'we'll replace it even though it's out of warranty',
I suggest whoever has this problem to call his country's Apple support and file a case.

Perhaps this will help Apple realize that we're many who have this problem and they actually do something about it. Especially those of us/you that are out of the 1-year warranty.

I may try the 2-year customer law thing that my country offers although I really wish Apple just gives a clear-cut solution. It's so obvious this is their fault.

It would be stupid to pay $500 to fix this. It will just happen again.

#metoo. Exactly the same spot, 1" above the home button. I have 3 ipad pro 10.5, the only that has the bright spot is the one I like most, jailbroken. I'm so reluctant to bring it in for exchange!! Do we know if apple will replace it with a new unit? My ipad pro is only 6 months old.

Just came back from Apple store. They will replace with a new unit. Now I'm not sure if i should sacrifice jailbreak with another unit that may have the same issue.

What jailbreak features are you using that would cause you to not get a replacement iPad? I can't imagine what could possibly be more important than a defect-free screen.

YouTube tools mainly. I got the new unit that was manufactured in April 2019 which means it came with iOS 12.2. I'm done with jb for now. I'm surprised Apple is still manufacturing the iPad pro 10.5.

Hope you received a no cost replacement.
Hi guys, some great news. I managed to get my iPad Pro 10.5 replaced at no cost even tho it was out of warranty (by 3-4 months I think).

So like I said, I went to the Apple Store 3 weeks ago and no luck. They told me that they couldn't do anything since my iPad was out of warranty and the issue was not among the extended Apple warranty program. They suggest me to call 1-800-MYAPPLE and that's what I did this morning. I spoke to a representative for 20 minutes and she ran a diagnostic (from distance) and no luck, they said they haven't found anything. She told me that I may try to speak to her supervisor.

I spoke to the supervisor for few minutes about the issue and she told me that they would make a one-time exception and would send a box to me and I would have to ship it back for repair. It would take a few days/weeks to have it back. I was so happy at that point and then asked her if I could just go to the Apple Store (Montreal) and just have them fix it. She told me that they would probably not do it since they have refused to repair/exchange it few weeks ago but told me to hold the line and that she would speak to the manager at the store. Few minutes later, she told me that everything is fine and just bring it to the Apple store and they would fix/exchange it to me. Just got back from the store few minutes ago with a brand new iPad Pro 10.5 256gb!!!

They customer service was excellent!!! I'm surprised that they would exchange a new one to me. The supervisor was very kind and guided me though all the process. It took almost 45 minutes on the pne but was all worth it. For all those with the same issue, just call 1-800-MYAPPLE and they will probably give an exchange for you.

When you say new, it was in a new sealed box? Not a refurb white box?

What is the manufacturer date of build of this one?

Thanks
