Stormfront give 3 years warranty in UK as well. They are a premium reseller, online as well. Bought the son's iPad from there a couple of years ago

Just checked them out. They have been operating for 12 years as a limited company and have a net worth of over £840,000, so they are obviously a fairly solid company. Certainly worth considering. Many thanks for that tip. Most useful.

Yes uses them a few times now. The worst that would happen would be you'd get 1 year if go bustbi suppose, if buy with credit card presume covered.

Where did you see that?

At John Lewis on the page where the tablet is advertised. See this:

"Exclusions apply. For full details of Added Care and to make sure this policy meets your needs, go to the Insurance Product Information Document, other important information and Policy Terms.

Available from 26 March 2019"

That was the point I was making? Lots of people don’t know them though.

I actually have been a lawyer in two jurisdictions (here and Alberta in Canada). I see so much rubbish posted online that my eyes now just glaze over.

I would purchase the device from these people and also AppleCare+ from Apple. That way I'd be covered for two years for accidental damage with two years warranty from Apple. In the third year, if anything went wrong, I could claim from Stormfront.

I googled them and they have bad reviews. I think i'd prefer to stick with Apple or John Lewis.

Their support is terrible.
Gave my MBP into them a while back for a logic board replacement under warranty.
Got the system back with a marked corner, and a few days later I had the EXACT same issue with the logic board, making me feel as though it was never changed in the first place.
Took it to Apple instead, who replaced the board [again?] and it was fine ever since.

Enough to put me off ever being a customer of theirs in future.

I tend to agree with you (especially in light of the post directly below yours from Ifti), but bear this in mind:

Stormfront reviews at Trustpilot: Rating: 2.8/10 - ‎88 reviews

John Lewis reviews at Trustpilot: Rating: 1.9/10 - ‎6,579 reviews

I was thinking of perhaps taking advantage of just the third year at Stormfront (the first two years being covered by Apple with AppleCare+), but with regard to that post below yours again, it looks like that would be far too dangerous. Thanks very much to Ifti, by the way. :)

All hypothetical for me at the moment, in any event, as I have just purchased two tablets, one new and one refurb, from Apple. That should keep me going for a while.

Hubby and I have recently (within the last year) had extensive experience of John Lewis and their extended warranty with both an Asus Laptop and a Mini iPad. Unfortunately John Lewis themselves, when repairing under their insurance, are not good, they are slow and customer service is completely inept imo. They had hubby's laptop for six weeks replacing a faulty battery.

For Apple products though they use Greenbridge Technology and they are good, quick and very efficient.

Very useful to know that. Many thanks.

The 64GB Wi-Fi models of the Air 3 and Mini 5 are shown as having a 3-year guarantee included whereas all of the other models say 2 years.

Wow, well spotted.

Perhaps the other tablets' details will be updated at some point to reflect the longer period.

Lets hope they are amending details today before the launch. I'd buy a 64GB if it had the extra insurance, rather than the 256GB. I have a 128GB mini 4 now but that has 81.3GB free so i "could" manage with a 64 if I had to.

Hope so.

While I'm not a constant cellular user, I think I'd miss it if I dropped the facility.

Shame there’s no 128gb.

I am going for the 256gb model as 64gb is too limiting on an iPad...

So are we saying they’ll be available to order from John Lewis tomorrow?

According to the website. We'll just have to see what happens.

a lot has been said already about how long the warranties are etc. but I just thought I'd chip in. I love Apple and John Lewis. Both are great for service but there's a key difference - time. I think Apple is better in the sense that if you have a problem, they have a greater ability to just fix it on the spot. The EU rights help a lot too.

I've bought a bunch of products from Apple and John Lewis and other manufacturers. Here are some differences in experience:

- Bought some Bose earphones from Apple. They stopped working on one side, Apple just replaced them right away in the store.
- Bought some Sony headphones from John Lewis. The left ear cup started to get static so I showed them to John Lewis. I got them in late December and it's March now. So I haven't had them for long. John Lewis are sending them for repair, and that's great. But they said it will take 28 working days. That's like 6 weeks.

So that's a big difference to keep in mind!

You have eloquently mirrored my rather less ordered thoughts over the last day or so. That is exactly why I decided to buy from Apple rather than JL even with the possibility of a year's extension to the warranty and accident cover at JL.
