Picked up mine from the Apple store today along with the AirPods 2

They had 2 iPad Minis on display but no 3rd party apps on them as they only went on display today.

Massively impressed, just a shame they didn’t drop the home button I’m so use to Face ID and the gestures.

Better keep your voice down. She might overhear. ;)

That was the very issue I had but with a different device.

Take it from me, you could well have saved yourself a sleepless night or three.

I bought my AirPods from John Lewis simply because I paid £20 for two years accidental damage. Apple don’t offer any insurance on AirPods. They work fine, but I will admit I checked the model number on the box’s to make sure I got the new ones and not the old ones. I don’t tend to trust anyone nowadays.

My local store has 64GB WiFi and 256GB Cell available for pickup. 64GB Cell at the next nearest store but it isn't do-able by bus :(

I looked into the added care as well with JL. It doesn’t cover loss (which is expected) and I feel that’s the biggest risk factor with those. I guess you could drop them in water or something..,

My experience with John Lewis:

Price, model availability, extended warranty and free next day delivery to local Waitrose store are all big positives.

Customer service however lets them down and you need to fight with them to get anywhere if you need service .

My initial interaction with John Lewis Peterborough when I had a battery fault with with an 8 month iPhone SE was poor with uncaring staff at the technical help desk spouting company policy and no hint of customer care. After explaining the fault and showing Apple diagnostics I was told that the phone could only be sent away which could take up to 6 weeks and no chance of a replacement there and then.

Not happy with this eventually a manager agreed to cover the train fair for me to get to Apple Leicester Highcross to get it sorted.

As expected, Apple were perfect and swapped out the handset there and then.

For me the biggest risk is standing on one of them. I managed to do that with one of a chorded pair just after I bought my iPhone. They cost me £25 to replace.

I had a three year warranty with John Lewis for my iPad 4. AFter two years I noticed the battery wasn’t lasting at all. They did send it away and I was sent back a new one (different serial number). It didn’t take six weeks but it was a few weeks. They use Greenbridge Technology for their Apple repairs.

Saying that i’m still buying my new mini from Apple.

That has been my experience with John lewis too. Depending on the member of staff you deal with they will argue the toss and will try to deny the problem. I don't rate them as highly as some obviously do.

I chose Apple over John Lewis because of the appalling customer service they had with a laptop I purchased 4 years ago.
The laptop (MacBook Air) broke down before the 2 year warranty, it went back in their service, they fixed it and then 2 years later is totally broke down again. Unrepairable they said. I quoted the Consumer Rights Act 2015 with them but to no avail. The only solution was to either accept a 300£ compensation from them or take them to the Small Claims Court.

Needless to say, after speaking with countless incompetent Customer Service agents (most of them were hanging up the phone on me), I lost my will to fight and took the compensation.

NEVER EVER JOHN LEWIS!
