JLP were living on their historical customer service reputation - then they outsourced it to CAPITA, and then cancelled it and brought it back in house (2018). That might explain their disastrous trustpilot rating. Maybe it has improved since they brought it back in house.

But I would go with Apple on the basis that if you walk into an Apple store with a problem, then you might just walk out with a replacement that day (rather than waiting for long repairs).

...and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't be tempted by Currys/PC world. Even if they have stock when others don't.

I didn't want to sway people about making a purchase from JL based on my own experience so I have withheld information about an ongoing dispute of recent origin that I have with JL. I suppose I should say something, though. It was an internet purchase for an item costing just less than £400. I thought my treatment quite shocking. JL were obviously in the wrong. Partly on the basis that a lawyer who acts for himself has a fool for a client, but mainly because I couldn't be as**d, I handed the matter over to Amex who immediately initiated dispute proceedings. I hope to have a result in the next few weeks. This is the chief reason I decided to buy a mini from Apple and not JL. I might have just been unlucky, but I don't think so.

They are certainly not as good as they used to be, that’s for sure.

This from Amazon UK re the mini 5 (apparently all variants): "In stock on March 30, 2019".

Same with the new Air.

As per my post in the other thread, I've just picked up a 256gb Space Grey Wifi/Cellular at Covent Garden. Looked like they had good stock of most models.

No Ipad mini 5 at Regents Street. A couple of days was the best guess.

I’ve decided to buy from Apple with Applecare. I’m a bit fussy with screen quality and Apple would be easier if I get a bad screen. I’m not waiting around anymore. I’ve ordered online, a 256GB Silver and Pencil. Delivery is scheduled for between 8th-10th April.

Ditto. I’ve decided to buy from Apple as well for the same reason.

Going to try my luck at the Apple store tomorrow if not I’ll place an order at Apple Online.

I certainly agree with you guys. Even if JL eventually do offer three years, it easily could end up just being a poisoned chalice. This way at least you're guaranteed a two-year rock solid warranty together of course with that all-important accidence insurance.

I’ve had so many problems with Apple devices with a screen. Tints, uneven screens, dim areas etc. I only buy these products from Apple for their 14day no quibble moneyback guarantee so they can be easily swapped out.

If people are buying iPads ins tore, does this mean the website is not showing in-store pickup correctly? Everywhere around me is saying 'Not Currently Available'.

I'm also getting not currently available, but then I'm nowhere near London. I presumed that London stores would get stock first.

Thank you olisones! Reading this I raced over there (from Canary Wharf) and snagged one! Nothing on display, when I asked they said they could sell but not display (?!) But anyway, stock looked good 45 mins ago when he checked

Apparently Apple store are selling iPad Minis today but not on display.

Apparently they’ll be on display tomorrow.

Fingers crossed I get mine tomorrow.

I’m now back from hospital and have managed to order my Mini 5 256GB Silver and Pencil for pick up from the Apple Lakeside Store. I’ve cancelled my online order. Not sure yet when I can get over there to collect it, possibly Monday or Tuesday.

Apple said I have fourteen days to collect anyway and my 14 day returns period starts when I collect it.

I ordered it through the Apple Store App, which said Store pick up was available.

I saw that. Personally i’d be returning it as faulty.

Picked up mine from the Apple store today along with the AirPods 2

They had 2 iPad Minis on display but no 3rd party apps on them as they only went on display today.

Massively impressed, just a shame they didn’t drop the home button I’m so use to Face ID and the gestures.
