damn, mine is still not yet "Out for delivery" !!! It is in my city, but not yet on the truck!! this is getting ridiculous! Damn UPS !!

Sherbrooke, QC, Canada 09/24/2018 7:00 A.M. Destination Scan
Sherbrooke, QC, Canada 09/22/2018 1:27 A.M. Arrival Scan
Lachine, QC, Canada 09/21/2018 11:30 P.M. Departure Scan

It's been 3 hours since it is at "Destination Scan"... I was supposed to get it last friday, I ordered at 3h01 or 3h02 on pre-order day!!

Destination scan means it’s out for delivery (on the truck). At least that’s what it showed on my tracking.

If you don’t get it today, call Apple tomorrow morning.

If anyone wants to know my original order hasn't changed status since

09/21/2018 14:22 We currently have the package. The receiver requested clearance by a non-UPS broker. / As requested, the package was transferred to a Free Trade Zone or a non-UPS broker.

On the phone for the 5th time to see if they can actually help any?

Ordered my Xs @8AM PT on the 21st which shipped out on the 22nd. Both Apple and UPS say it's going to deliver tomorrow but according to the tracking number it's still in Hong Kong. I dunno what to believe.

Wow that is brutal. Have you spoken with Apple Support, I would want some major compensation for that.

Both Apple and UPS are taking the approach to wait and see when it will appear
Took 1 1/2 hours and 3 attempts to get someone to offer a gift card (undetermined amount)
Never had this happen before

For you XS Max people with no AppleCare+, just a heads up that if you break the back glass and want to get it 'fixed' (a replacement) its $880.....

Also: if you used an AMEX, you might have coverage for accidental damage. I think mine says 60 days.
I know a friend that spilled red wine in her MBP and Amex covered the repairs.

The phone I ordered the day after preorders started that was supposed to be here on Friday arrived today. Two days after I bought one from the store.

And back to the Apple store it goes!

90 days for theft, damage, loss and extra year of warranty after standard warranty.

You can see why some countries like Australia have a mandatory 2yr consumer protection warranty law!

Sweet baby Jeebus! I have an XS and I’m definitely getting AC+

I’m starting to think these exhorbitant costs for repair are completely unfounded and unreasonable by Apple. Devices are not really “repaired” in store any longer (have iPhones ever been?), their replaced: and I’m unsure if done at Apple’s costs.

So ... is the increasing out of warranty repair costs a deterrent for customers and a way to force them into AppleCare+ extended warranty for peace of mind, how much service revenue climbs are feom AppleCare+ & Out Of Warranty repairs every quarter since 2016?

I’m very sure Apple doesn’t measure this internally and that is to avoid lawsuits!!

That's exactly what they did. Apple has been maxxing out on profit generation from hardware and actual products (it's not everyday they develop a completely new line of product that's as successful as the Apple Watch). Therefore the only way to increase profits outside of developing new products is to provide services that are paid for. Apple Care + is amazing for them, considering that a vast majority of those who buy it don't have to use it. They know that for laptops, the vast majority dont have problems the first 3 years, therefore they are safe. For the phones, they've determined 2 years. Of course sometimes they have to replace devices, but their doing so at Apple's own manufacturing costs for parts, which is super cheap for them. So when you pay a replacement deductible of $129+tax for a new phone, they give you a new phone which at their cost is probably something like $500. BUT they also get your broken phone back, which has all of the internals working perfectly and can absolutely be transported into another device that'll be used to replace the next person's device. They aren't losing money anywhere any way you look at it.

The reason they added wireless charging is not to follow samsung (wireless charging is a joke and unnecessary), it was so they had an excuse to design the phone in such a way that if you break the glass, you have that massive repair bill waiting for you. Psychologically it had an effect on me. For the X and XS Max, i bought AC+ without hesitation. If the back glass replacement was a simple swap, I definitely would not have gotten it. Therefore over the 2 years, Apple got $562 from me for warranty.

Cliffs: Apple is brilliant.
