What happens when you turn off “send as SMS”? Also, under send and receive do you have +1 and full number ex(+1 (222) 123-1224) also you try logging out of iCloud, reboot, and logging back in?

Full number here too with +33 , I'm in France . Turned SMS on and then back on . It doesn't change a thing .

Have you tried "Reset all Network Settings" yet? It somehow fixes like 80% of problems like magic. lol. Keep us posted on what Apple Tech Support says!

Same issue.
With iOS16 and iPadOS16 the ability to Message yourself has gone whacked.
I used to do this all the time from either device. That ability is now gone.
Have reported via Feedback.

Now ... If you select the "+" for a message and select yourself, from Contacts, you can get it to work.
If I do it via my iPhone 13 ProMax to myself (phone number), it shows green
If I do it via my iPad Pro 11 2020 to myself (phone number), it shows blue.

It is a screwy situation.

Just as a follow up. I had my iPhone 14 pro delivered this morning. I did a transfer of info from my previous phone and on the new phone iMessage is working correctly and I am in blue! Doesn’t really make sense as the data is a carbon copy of before but hey it works now

I’ve been reporting this bug since the first iteration of the iOS 16 Beta. It works fine in prior iOS versions, however suddenly couldn’t send self pics, docs, msgs without triggering the green bubble (which prevents most attachments). Even after going from 12 PM to 14 PM with 16.0.2 still does the same thing. Very irritating.

Well... this bug was not fixed with tonights update

😳

Mine is doing this as well. 13PM on iOS 16.0.2 Monday it was a regular sms, Wednesday it let it go through iMessage and now today back to sms.
