Can’t iMessage myself

I spoke too soon. Only green now. I sent feedback on the issue, I hope they get it sorted soon
 
I reset my network settings last night because I keep having WiFi issues but I noticed my text went through as an iMessage today.
 
Been working with a Senior Tech person at Apple to decipher this issue. Had a couple hours with her watching the screen trying various solutions with no solutions. She was dumbfounded. Next call tomorrow will involve gathering system diagnostics and all that to forward to engineers to see if they cannot figure out a fix. But, not only is my number green like it’s not an iPhone but attachments cannot be sent to self. Plain texts can. Maybe one day there’ll be a fix after reporting this the last few months during the beta and now. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Doesn’t have this behavior prior to iOS 16.

I had this exact same bug. I have a running message that I text myself for notes. The bubbles turned green, but now they’re back to blue for some reason.

Oh the joys of getting a new version of iOS. Before iOS 15 I never had problems with the new version but since then, or I should just say this time in the last time, it’s not been good. I don’t know if it’s because Apple’s changed their beta process or I’ve just been lucky till now.

I have the exact same issue. I’m on iOS 16.0.2 and still green to myself using my phone number. Turns blue if I use my email address. Like you say it’s no biggie but would be nice if it got sorted. iPad and Apple Watch have no issues just iPhone (11).
 
Just sayin' ... Today I had lunch with 3 friends , all iPhones on iOS 16.0.2 . Every one of them had the same issue .
 
I had the same thing last week- and it has, with no intervention on my part, resolved itself. I suggest it might be a server-side issue.

This happened to me on iOS 15.

Well there's the fix. Send Apple $1000 and you get the "iMessage to yourself" feature, AND a brand new iPhone 14 Pro for free!
 
So, one last throw of the dice. I sent myself an iMessage using my watch and since then the problem has been resolved!! Might be just luck or Apple have fixed it, either way it’s back to normal now.
 
Okay I found a weird temp solution. Tried it and it worked every time. If you swipe up to completely clear out the window it comes up as iMessage next time you open it. If you go back at all while in your messages it will revert back. You can send multiple in a row.

I have this issue as well. I was researching it online. And in an Apple discussions thread from 2020, someone had the issue then. I've tried everything I can think of. I think I'm gonna call Apple Support, and see what they say. But since I'm on the beta, they may not help.
 
On the iOS 16.0.3 tread , @ManuCH put me on the right direction and all seem to be back to normal finally after trying everything I could think of .

So I sent myself a message with blue email . That worked . Then I deleted it tried again with my phone number and now it's blue . Did it a few times after deleting the previous message each time and now all seems to be back as it was before .

Can you be more specific? Not sure what you mean by "blue email".
Never mind. I think I got it! Thanks!
Nope. Keeps reverting back to green.
