Can you be more specific? Not sure what you mean by "blue email".
Never mind. I think I got it! Thanks!
Nope. Keeps reverting back to green.
I had logged out of iCloud then back in just before doing that. No idea if it’s related or not. Blue email = an email that works with iCloud . I woke up a moment ago. Tested again a couple of times , still blue….at least for now 🤞🏻🤞🏻

EDIT : My husband had the same issue and this worked for him also

I downloaded the 16.1 beta last week to see if it's been fixed and still I'm in green. I used the feedback app to send the details to Apple and a week later it says no other reports received. am I the only one who has reported this or do apple not bother reading the feedback?

Try my workaround it still works for me .

-Sign out of iCloud
-Reboot
-Sign back in
-Reboot
-Send yourself iMessage with blue email
-Delete that message
-Send yourself iMessage with your phone number

It now should be blue , it's been like that for me for a few days now . I did the same on my husbands phone and it works too .

On iOS 16.0.3 both of us. No beta .
And yes , I have sent multiple feedbacks.

So many times many of us here submit feedback for the same issue and get that very message.
Not sure how support categorizes these.

Where is this "blue" email?

It's usually your email linked to iCloud , when you go to send a message there is the choice between phone number and emails. Some are in green others in blue.

Ahh, you mean in the Recents section. Where you tap on the "i". Yes, I tried that. Now I'm stuck on it I think. When I tap on "info", it shows my email address with the "recent" rectangle. And when I text myself, it only shows the Sent text. No Received. That works for my purpose, and when I text someone, it shows coming from my number. I think signing out and back in to iCloud might be what actually works. I haven't done that.

Nope. I’ve been in contact with a Senior tech who spent a couple hours on the phone (while she watched the screen on her end) trying different solutions, and nothing. She has logs and all that under the hood stuff to help identify. Devs are aware of the problem but unsure when they’ll push out a fix. She said it could be carrier-related (it’s not). 🤷🏼‍♂️

When you say "Delete that message", do you mean the message bubble, or the entire thread?

The tread , sorry I wasn’t clear enough. You first send yourself an iMessage with an email then swipe to delete it completely. After that send yourself an iMessage using your phone number. It should be blue now. It’s been working for me for over a week now.

Yeah, tried that. Works as long as I stay in the thread. But one I leave the thread, then go back, it's reverted to green again.

Hi. I’m not 100% sure this is an ios16 problem but I have only just noticed it after recently updating.

I sometimes iMessage stuff to myself to look at later. I tried today but iMessage to myself is unavailable - I’m in green not blue. I can iMessage anyone else no problem. I can iMessage myself from my iPad and both my macs just not the iPhone. I have restarted the iPhone, signed out and back in to iCloud. Not a major problem if I don’t get it sorted but just thought I’d ask if anyone has any idea. Many thanks for reading.
I’m having this same problem. I’m on iOS 16 and I have an iPhone 11. What you are describing is exactly what is going on with me also. I’m guessing we will have to wait for an update. 😩

I've had this issue since early on in iOS 16. Recent updates have not fixed it. I'm on iOS 16.2 Public Beta.

Found a fix:
Had same issue: could not iMessage myself since recently, including with iOS16.1
I noticed email address capitalization for iMessage did not match email capitalization for my contact card. It has been like that for years, and I could successfully iMessage myself until recently. Maybe iOS16 introduced email capitalization sensitivity which was ignored previously? (would be a mistake from Apple, it seems to me capitalization should be ignored for email addresses).

This solved my issue: I changed to only lower cap email addresses in both iMessage, and contact card.

Same issue iPhone 12, ios16.1, so I did the routine as per post #79, however when I signed out my apple account, I got message that iMessage and iCloud message info was not the same, this warning info box wouldn’t close and just came back, several tries and then I got signed out. Did the reboot>Apple signin> reboot. Sent iMessage via email-worked(blue), deleted it sent email via phone-worked(blue) And appears all good so far. This was done with Wi-Fi on. what I notice if Wi-Fi is on iMessage myself it uses email address, turning Wi-Fi off iMessage goes to phone number but still blue!! Hopefully fixed! Only issue I have is i seem to have lost my contact photos, most are missing? Not sure what happened Thanks for the assistance
