I got my pacific blue case a few days ago and will be returning it. It’s not a good case imo. It feels like a ten dollar Amazon special not a premium case that we are expecting. I ordered a nomad leather case instead. I have a feeling that Apple will either drop this case due to the amount of low sales and returns or offer something else with the 16.
I am curious about Nomad cases. I noticed that none of their pics show the left side of the case with the volume and mute switch locations showing. Will be interested with what they actually look/feel like when you get yours.

I can see them doing a complete 180° on this on next year.
We forgive you Apple, the iPhone upgrades are so good, we can pretend FineWoven never happened.
I don't see them changing course on this. Making & processing leather takes a lot and is directly contradictory to their carbon neutral plans.

This is an opportunity for other vendors to fill that space, as they will.

Edit: Nevermind. It was posted. :D But yeah quite disappointed that they scratch so easy. I was expecting to be more durable, because it's like cloth.

All in the name of the environment… EVEN THOUGH… contradictory…

instead of making the screen size on the pros marginally bigger they make the overall footprint smaller meaning everyone needs a new case instead of re-using their old one… for the environment obviously.

further their carbon neutral Apple Watch still forces you to purchase a watch band (which most people don’t even need)… all for the environment obvs 🙄

A case that's more fragile than the phone it protects ;)

Perhaps this is Apples attempt to encourage the ultimate sustainability - don't buy a case
Or, the opposite of sustainability. Buy a second case for your first case!

You are an animal - are you okaying your next of kin to turn your hide into a scrote-purse or a phone-case that they will use for about 18 months?
Not directed at me but sure, they can do with my "leather" as they wish. I certainly wont care.

as others have stated, it’s weird apple did not go with vegan leather which by all accounts is quite durable.
Correct and I don't get why there are some vegans defending FW just because it is a vegan alternative. This does NOT help their case. People will and are seeking out leather cases elsewhere due to how bad FW was. If Apple had released a good vegan product aka plastic product, those people may have kept it. Don't defend a crap product just because it is part of your cause, it ain't helping the cause!

As I will be dead at that time, I won't give a flying fart about it - they can eat me or feed me to the dog too if they feel like it!
Well, this got spicy

Apple will do the same thing they always do... They'll never admit that they screwed the pooch on this one... little by little you will see these popping up on third party sites at a heavily discounted price until they get rid of whatever amount they manufactured.... Then next year they will introduce something different that they will tout as "magical" and "revolutionary" and will never mention fine woven again.

I believe it's 100% textile so no.
But alas, biodegradable garbage is still garbage. And there is a carbon cost associated with its production and transport. So that's not good.
This is a very good question. Fine woven can be made up of a fiber filament Polymer textile etc. or a combination. It doesn’t have to be a specific material or fiber or polymer. It can be spun into anything. It can be total garbage that’s been filament fiber or polymer or whatever then turned into a fine woven end product textile. So seems the case of this product which looks terrible and does not wear well.

The best part will be the ten people who liked the case screaming from every forum that Apple is terrible for dropping their best case ever!

Yikes. I'm glad I picked up an extra Apple leather case for my 14 Pro before they all sold out. I guess when I buy my next iPhone I'll be getting a third party case unless Apple improves them.

Why would people want to buy a case with an Apple logo on it anyway? One of the main reasons for a case besides protecting the phone is hiding the logo. If Apple wants to use MY phone as an advertising space, it should pay for it.
It’s a prestige thing. Should Mercedes pay you for putting their logo on the hood, wheels, steering wheel, and trunk?

Well this is unfortunate - I've been a huge fan of Apple leather cases since I bought my first one for my iPhone 6s, and that is all I've used since (although the leather case for my iPhone 13 hasn't aged as gracefully as previous iterations). Anyone know of a leather case make with a similar look, feel and quality to older Apple leather cases?

I'm sure the dead animals would not agree
I think we are overusing the topic today. Agriculture and livestock go hand in hand. Cattle breeding builds up our land and the humus layer, then crops are grown on this soil.
All this is nothing bad, as long as the attitude of the animals is natural and species-appropriate. Factory farming and torture breeding should be banned - but why should we ban agriculture and livestock breeding and destroy the natural cycle?

Leather is a beautiful and sustainable product.

I grew up loving Apple products, but not sure how they aren’t good still. If they are the least terrible in a sea of garbage then that means they are still the best in the market. Seems you just aren’t happy with the advancement of tech in gene

I didn’t say they aren’t good. Apple still makes perfectly acceptable products. But when I grew up, Apple didn’t settle for “acceptable.” It’s painfully obvious that since Steve Jobs’ unfortunate death, the company was left in the hands of someone who no longer prioritizes user experience.

Has there actually been any new iPhone iteration that enabled you to reuse your existing iPhone case (exception the S models).

My FineWoven case went straight back - felt nylon to me. Judging by this discussion thread, most are being returned for Apple to send to landfill.

How does this all sit with Apples ‘green credentials’ and Mother Earth. Certainly doesn’t sit well with me.
