I'm in constant contact with Callum (the founder of Mediadevil), and also Rob - and we send Emails often to each other when a new product comes out, I'm always the first to ask them for availability etc

I have only tried 3rd Party Screen Protectors till they released their own, then I take off the 3rd party and stick the MD on. I only deal with MD and they are absolutely fantastic, you will also receive 5 flavored chews in the bag which is a nice little touch.

Biggest problem for me is getting to the Maomi chews before the rest of the family....

But seriously, have used their film and glass protectors for years and fit is always spot on. Not the cheapest but worth it.

I feel very sorry for all the trusted glass screen protector manufacturers on Amazon right now. Yikes!
Not at all. Snake oil sellers should be happy for their run. Screen protectors are evil and always provide a subpar experience. They seem to become more wonky in the winter. I could guess that less humidity causes electrostatic energy to more easily adhere to the protectors and produce false or confusing touches to the glass/digitizer.

So a very weird test for you to try. I have an 11” iPad with the ESR protector and get the screen touch issues a lot. FaceID is pretty much ok. However when I get the screen being unresponsive - if I touch another area with my left hand eg near the left edge then the screen works fine consistenty???

Almost like it’s palm rejection or other software issue perhaps or even some kind of grounding (I just need to touch the side of the iPad not actually the screen) which is very strange.

Try it and see.

Yes, as I’ve said something is very different with these new iPads.

How bad is the intermittent touch responsiveness issue with the 11”? I have a new 12.9” with glass protector, and I must admit on the odd occasion when scrolling very fast in an app using multiple finger “strikes”, one on the very odd occasion may not register. I’ve usually just thought perhaps I hit an image and the scroll response didn’t register. But apart from that, everything else seems fine. Keyboard types flawlessly too.

Is that different to the issue others are reporting? Is it worse with the 11”?

Bad. Literally unusable, with only a tiny fraction of your touches registering and only if you use your fingernail. You’d know :)

If you only experience issues rarely, I’d say that’s much closer to normal.

I have noticed some manufacturers are only concerned about the Face ID and not touch sensitivity too. Not smart.

No issues naked. Tons with glass!

I think there is something different about these news screens that is making them very finicky with glass. Maybe it is the static from the screen that adheres it, I don't know. All I know is the manufacturers have to have them by now and need to address this. Maybe they need to make them even thinner. I am thinking I will go film if I can even find a good film. Anyone with links to good film for these?
[doublepost=1542508339][/doublepost]I tried the matte screen protector on my iPad Pro 11 inch. I could not set up Face ID until I cut the matte protector away from the senser and now it works fine.

You didn’t get the one with the proper cutout then.

Just put the iCarez matte film protector on and so far it is flawless.

Alright, serious question. Should I put a screen protector on my iPad Pro? I have it in the keyboard case from Apple. And the Apple Store employee told me I don’t need one on the iPads. Apple doesn’t even sell them apparently. So what is the opinion on this?

They said the same to me. They also mentioned that out of all testing they have done, no screen protector for the iPad meets their expectations. For that reason they don’t stock any.

I want to rip mine off and use it as it was intended to be used, but the OCD is holding me back! I’m sersiously interested in how many people actually use screen protectors vs those that don’t.

See, I am the same way. I want a Screen Protector, but haven’t found any good ones. At the same time, I am so nervous that I will get micro scratches. As of now, I don’t have a screen protector on, but I know that will change on Friday when I get it delivered. Haha. I am traveling for the Holidays, So I hope I dont scratch it during my traveling. Haha.

Well I’ve been sporting a JETech on my 12.9” for a few days now. At first everything felt fine. I mentioned in an earlier post that occasionally I get a “one-off” issue with touch responsiveness, but no where near as bad as those reports with the 11”. That being said, even the significantly smaller number of touch responsiveness issues is now starting to bug me. It ruins the overall experience....just waiting for it to happen again.

With no other screen protector options available in Australia yet (that I can find) I reckon the time has come to use my iPad naked for the first time (with a keyboard folio).

That’s too bad the JeTech is not working out for you. I had mine on the 12.9 since launch and it’s been flawless.

The only thing I can suggest (if you still have it on yours) is to keep rubbing it entirely with a microfibre cloth. It just needs to sit for a while for it to settle. Good luck.

I would give my Sparin a 90% grade on my 12.9”. Face ID works 100% of the time. Maybe an occasional glitch with touch sensitivity. No problems with Apple Pencil at all. I will leave it on for now until this all shakes out if it does.

I don’t purchase Apple Care for iPads. Only for watches,MacBooks and iMacs. I haven’t took off my defective tempered glass screen protector. Since I’ve discovered the defect. I had bought 2. Put the new one on. I’m using my Apple Pencil for most screen touches. Not good enough for me. Who is going naked? I want to pull my screen protector off but I have small kids who like to touch Daddy’s toys.

Some good news from MediaDevil re their non-glass protector.

In response to a query, Callum ( co-founder) advised “
I can confirm now for you that our Ultra-Tough protector works perfectly with
both Face ID, the Apple pencil and an old-school finger. I've just tried it
myself now using an 11" iPad Pro (will be testing 12.9" shortly too).

I configured Face ID once the protector was already on the screen, perhaps
that made a difference, I'm not sure yet.“

UK orders are shipping today. I will be getting my 11 inch iPad on Friday (holding out for a Black Friday Apple gift card!) and will be fitting the protector as soon as the iPad is out of the box. Fingers crossed.....

I have a Sparin on my iPad pro 11”. As the Face ID is now working perfectly, touchscreen has not.. It seems te be getting worse.. Really annoying.. I have wiated a long time for this one as it stated to work better now it’s the updated version.. So it’s not. Before I had the ESR and had the Face ID and touchscreen issue...

Going to have to wait for a better one again!

I also received an email and ordered the 12.9". Not sure when it will arrive but will report back when it does.

I started using glass screen protectors for the first time on my first gen 12.9. Here’s why. My screen was fine, even with extensive pencil use. Then one night I laid my iPad down up against the wall by my bed. As “luck” would have it I slide my iPad across a random nail head that had somehow become exposed or was never nailed in properly. Radom misfortune but it scratched my screen. When I took it to apple for repair I was told they didnt do screen replacements for the 12.9’s. Two things I learned, buy Apple Care and cover my screen. Probably will never happen again. But I would have much rather the screen protector have gotten that scratch than my iPad. Here’s to dumb “luck” urmm... misfortune.

Received the same Email from Callum at MD

The protector has actually arrived at my house but I’m not home till next week

:(

Day two with iCarez matte screen protector. Still perfect. Not to mention, I love the matte look and feel.

Sounds similar to my experience with the JETech. It’s pretty damn close, just not quite 100% when it comes to touch responsiveness. Apple Pencil and Face ID are perfect.
