OK question for anyone with this app?

I have iP sister has BB.... i understand we can both txt back and forth for free i get that..... now on her end can she txt from her BB to another BB (which does not have this app) still for free?

so question on the BB side.... does everyone on the BB side have to have this app to txt between each other..... or can she just use this app and txt will be free?

end result: trying to cut down on her txt costs on the BB side (most of her people have BB) i know i use textfree to text people and it's free no matter what carrier/phone they have.....

damn i hope that was understantable..... :cool:

S = sent
D = delivered

I think S means the message is displayed in push popup on the receiver's iPhone. The message changes to D when the receiver opens the Whatsapp app to view the message. This is what I think happens after testing the app with my Wife's iPhone.

I think S means server, as in it's reached the push server, and D means an alert/badge/sound has been displayed on the recipients phone.

In the app, click on "settings" and then "Help"

It explains in there what the "u" "S" and "D" are.

u - message was sent to a chat partner who is currently online and is running an older version of the app for an IPhone (or a BlackBerry beta version)

S - message successfully arrived to the Server when chat partner is offline

D - message was successfully delivered to the Device of the chat partner.

The D and S messages are so annoying. They clutter up space and I don't think they're necessary ALL the time. I only need to know if my messages have been sent successfully.

you mean delivered not sent?

I said this before - the D S U are all confusing to the causal iphone users. Could make it more symbolic or just a green tick or cross!

PS with the latest update the timestamp bug is STILL there :-(
all the times show the same.

so is whatsapp more of an IM app, than a texting app?
example: both parties need this app for it to work? (iphone and BB)

For me it is another IM only.

I assume it would just be the same if you have yahoo messenger. The only difference with this app it check you phonebook and see is any of your contact has whatsapp. While in yahoo you need to request to be added in the list.

Wow! is it really that confusing?

S = sent

D = delivered

notice i said casual users. The girls at work with the iPhones quiz me all the time as well as lots of non-techhie young users. Juduging by the amount of questions on here, the twitter and facebook i guess it deserves a change... Anyway, no biggie, i just wish it didn't drop 20% of messages and the time stamping worked.

New update gets rid of the 'S' and 'D' symbols. Replaced with easier to understand 'ticks'.

Easier?? maybe its just me, but i cannot stand to see the checks! when i see two as in "read" or "opened" it makes me think I'm suffering from double vision.

I would rather an envelope sealed and then change to the image of an open envelope. Certainly there is a better way of handling it.

Either way the checks i feel do not make it as clear as it was before. I don't want to have to ask myself if its one or two, color code it or something. IMO its a step backwards.

Yes I think it's easier than the old way of S and D. But, I do think it would be a good idea to colour code the two ticks, maybe a red one then a green one.

jkb,
Any idea about when group chat will be implemented? I know you have group broadcast but i'd love to use group chat.

Problem here is no one person is satisfied. Another poster could not fathom the S and D indicators, had a problem with that, so now it's checks. Still more people have a problem. The envelope idea is pretty good though. The checks is a nice change. Personally I can adapt to any method, as long as there is one.

Yep, another moan! It seems as though whatsapp are trying to gain confidence with just having ticks.

I got the comment from some 'blonds'

Them: ...but i sent you the message, look it has a tick!?

Me:yes, but you should see two ticks

Them: that's stupid, why doesn't it have a cross? That's confusing, innit?

Solution: Get smarter friends and "do" something else with the blond.
