im having big problems getting this activated on my iphone, it asks me to enter a 3 digit activation code, but never sends me one when i have done all the steps (entered phone number etc). i have tried so many ways to get it, via wifi, turned wifi off so it sends through 3G, still nothing.

i have even restored my phone, still nothing. Have tried all of the things that have been thrown at me via support emails, and STILL nothing.

whats going on? why wont it activate? im at my wits end here because i like to use this a lot as it saves using my texts up.......

PLEASE HELP.

:(

I'm a big supporter of whatsapp and promote to my friends. It's been working great until the last iOS update. I can open it and type in a message but when I hit send the app crashes all the time. Haven't tried reinstalling it because it seems like a task to even get a verification code. Devs help!!!

This app no longer supports the iPod Touch, which means I paid for an app that my wife and I use to chat back and forth with (I have an iPhone, she has an iPod Touch) that is now useless to me.

An e-mail to the developer only returns an automated response saying the iPod is no longer supported. Anyone know why this is, and if there are plans to support it again in the future?

I hate Kik, but we're being forced to use it. Loved Whatsapp and had no problems with it at all, until this.

I believe there is an app called PING which is pretty much the same thing. And i think it's free too. Give that a try. Might be better than Kik.

Hi :)
i'm new at this forum and i just wanna share my experience with Whatsapp in BB.

I've installed it couple of months ago (in Oct i think) from BB app world. I heard about this app from my friend which is an iPhone user. So i give it a try, and it has worked amazingly till this very moment.

I can send and receive messages from my iPhone friends instantly, with no delay, no hassle. I've read about the glitches in this forum, but lucky me, i haven't had any problem with this app. The time stamp works just fine, the tick and double tick (previously S/D) works just fine too. Now i can message back and forth to my friends who's living overseas without the fear of sms bill. Oh, and thanks for the emoticons, they're cute :)

My Whatsapp is on trial until Nov 2011, but i'll surely pay for it when the trial period ends, coz it's been a lot of help bridging BB users with other platform users, and it surely save me from international texting, which will cost me a great deal of money.

It's only lacking group chat function. Add that and you'll break all boundaries. Please put the group chat function soon.

Great job on the app :)

Finally got mine working - you cannot switch between phones when using this app. So i assume when you upgrade you will then have to pay for the App again?

been working ok for me recently, crashes a few times but reconnects ok.

i agree groupchat on this would be really cool, hopefully they are working on it.

Group Chat

My iPhone user friends added me to a group chat on whatsapp, I'm thrilled!! But so far i haven't figured out how to add groups in whatsapp for BB and the group that exist now can only contain 5 people.

It's a great improvement and I credit you for your hard work :)

Do you have anymore update for whatsapp BB?

Yes!!! Finally group chat has made an appearance! Even though it's limited to 5 people, it's a good start. Hopefully they will continue to build on this. And realiability too! That's been a bit of an issue.

The "read" recipt part needs more accurancy.

Updated comment:
I have updated to version 2.6.1524. I'm loving the group chat, tho it's limited to 5 people now, I have high hopes that you will expand the group function. In the new version I can start a group and add the users when in previous version I can only receive group invitation started by iPhone user.
Once again I said, good job! :)

They've silently pulled iPod touch support, much to the surprise of my Nephew. His iPod touch broke and Apple replaced it. On restore, Whatsapp won't install. It was on the old device and working this morning. Whatsapp email support throws back an automated message saying iPod touch support was pulled.

Kind of a dick move to silently pull support for such a popular device without so much as a word. Now we're all looking for an alternative. Any suggestions?

There is KIK, LIVEPROFILE and PING CHAT that I know of that do the same things.

Whatsap on iphone

Hi, I am a bb user. I have friends who use iphone and have whatsapp. I have been thinking about getting Iphone. But recently I have been experiencing with couple of my friends, when I am using whats app and send them a msg, it says they are online and that have they have read the msg (with two check marks). But in reality, they are not even using the application at that point, and havent read any msges. Why does their status appears to be online out of the blue? Just very confused. Please explain. thanks

Yeah i don't think What's App works too well with the while Read Receipt feature of two check marks.
Either that, so we are ALL wrong and the two checkmarks doesn't mean that the message has been read....

I've asked them and got no response, they removed iPod Touch support from a version a while ago but then reinstated it. They could at least have the decency to explain why.

Now that the new Viber 2.0 (out today) supports texting for free as well as voice calls for free that is what is being used by my daughter who relied on Whatsapp on her Touch to communicate with us.

Problem

When my whatsapp is open, there are vibrations when a whatsapp message is recieved. However when my whatsapp is not open, let's say I'm using other application or even at my home screen, there will be an alert saying I recieived a whatsapp message, but there won't be any vibration. Can I know how to have vibration for whatsapp at all times?

Ps. My inapp vibration is on.

Either that, so we are ALL wrong and the two checkmarks doesn't mean that the message has been read....

The first check mark means the message has left your device. The second check mark means the message was delivered (NOT read). However, on an iPhone, the app cannot run in the background (except for 10 minutes after the app is initially opened) so the first message you send won't be delivered until the person opens the app after they get the notification. That's why it sometimes seems that the second check mark means read even though it doesn't.

Hmmm i always thought the double checkmarks meant the msg was recieved.... And i guess thats true. But i have a lot of friends using whatsapp on bb and it works just fine most of the time.

Do they have whatsapp for Android as well?
