Anyone here with a developer account to see if the new released beta resolved these issues?

That would be great. Shame that there isn’ t a public beta yet.

Oh there is now!

Currently on the 12.1 beta 2 and the stuttering is worse than ever.. Also on vlc when enabling hardware decoding it stutters way more!

Seems to be a hardware issue have 2 xsmax the one with the charging bug and also has the WiFi lte bug also has the judder but the other xsmax I have don’t have the charge bug or the WiFi lte bug doesn’t have the judder problem even on Spider-Man homecoming final battle while the other one is judder like crazy. Like unwatchable seems to be a hardware problem to me anyway

But just like then iPhone 4 antenna problems they prob will just say we are watching it wrong and need special glasses to get a judder free movie and charge 299.99 judder free hdr glasses

I agree. I’m on 12.1 b2 now and it’s worse. Doesn’t look like apple want to fix this
Lucky for me turning off auto brightness fixes it for me

It doesn’ t fix all problems.
But it helps with the real stutter and slowdowns though, but every 24hz and 30hz sources are very shaky.

Mine doesn’ t have the charge issue, or WiFi/LTE issue, but it has the video stutter issue.

There is something different about the screen when you have auto brightness on. Like when it’s off it’s way more vibrant and better in hdr. Also on 33% level it’s way brighter with auto off. I think with auto on it’s using a hardware method of screen dimming which interfere with the refresh rate somehow

Yeah, I see it too.
But that is not the only issue, there are still issues with 1080 24hz sources , like in YouTube , you can see it when YouTube states just 1080p, those videos are also very jerky, shaky/jumpy. And it is not regular pull down judder or something like that, that is not as noticeable as this.
In videos on YouTube on which YouTube states 1080p60 or 1080p50, everything is alright and smooth.

Yep just confirmed auto brightness off the whole screen look better brighter colors etc and the judder is still there but way way less like small amounts I’d have to be looking for it so hopefully a fix will be coming this needs to be forwarded to apple I was about to take mine back and get my 8 plus back but the screen looks amazing on here compared to 8plus the 8 plus screen looks very blue and not even bright whites or blcks so hopefully all os issues with new screen sizes and hdr etc.

Also on 12.1 Public Beta 2, stuttering still just as bad. Actually it seems to be quite a bit of Netflix content that causes stuttering, not just HDR.

It’s worth noting that most users probably don’t sign up for the premium Netflix package that shows 4K and HDR. This may impact why the reports of this issue accumulate in geeky places like that but seem to be quiet everywhere else.

I do have netflix premium account. After the netflix updates, the stuttering issue is gone from my xs max. Youtube and itunes movie (Transformers) works just fine for me. So i guess it affected some users and not all xs users. My xs max also doesn’t have wifi-LTE connection issue and charging issue. Hope next iOS updates will solve all the these ***** for affected xs users.

Can anyone else report performance on beta 2?
Same actually videos have that choppy and it’s worse in beta 2 so is WiFi bug but hey the charging bug is fixed this so so stupid on a 2 grand device after apple care and taxes it’s about 2 grand

What’s a good Netflix show and time stamp to test for this issue?
It’s on al videos almost it’s worse on Netflix and even movies and shows baught from iTunes played thru the tv app which is insane have 178 movies and almost all of them from iTunes have this issue on new phone don’t happen on 8plus or regular x it looks like I really hope it’s not the OLED screen cuz a lot of lg panels had this issue and still have this issue on tv’s I had 4 of them had almost same issue so I’m prob gonna return xs max because at this point I’m leaning toward a hardware defect if it was simple as a software bug they would have fixed it fast esp when so many people have money invested into iTunes movies they own and download it happens ok downloaded ones too I have 24 movies downloaded on my xs max and almost all have the same stutter judder jerky feeling just worse than others u can see it really really bad if I put your phone under a magnifier that make your screen appear 15” it looks insane it’s so bad gives me that bad motion sickness feeling and a headache then play it on 8 plus or iPhone X and no stutter or judder or jerky scenes at all zero also the quality even looks sharper and cleaner on older device strange esp under magnification u can see the xsmax quality sucks compared to 8 plus it almost looks like not even hd compared to hd

Actually my phones performance is better when wi-fi is on.. This is really starting to be frustrating. Starting to think this is a hardware issue...

Ever heard of punctuation dude, I don’t know what’s a new sentence or what......anyway I think you’re right and it’s an issue with the OLED, could be LG and Samsung are making the panels and it’s the LG ones with an issue?? Some people have no issue, some have it to lesser degrees and some like me gets better with turning off auto brightness or airplane mode

Before any one starts worrying that some iPhones works and some does not. Please note that not all people are equally perceptive of frame drops. So it could easily be, that all Xs iPhones have same issue, but not all are seeing it. This is in no way ment as an insult, people are just different. Some also see’s pixel errors right away, and some never sees them. I have meet many people who claimed no errors with their device, that’s untill I got hold of it, and pointed them out. Good thing I’m not in the Apple Quality Assurance Department, I would be a very expensive asset.

How do I know I’m watching HDR content? I don’t have the issue but not sure if I’m even watching hdr video. Hbogo Hulu Netflix YouTube all ply great for me
