Trying to get this 10.15.6 beta all day long with no luck. None of my Macs and Hackintoshes gets it for some reason. And I am not alone with this issue. Really strange. Tried opting out and back in again with no luck, tried VPN, multiple reboots... ARRGH!

Weird, it was available for me this morning and installed without problems. I'm. working with the lid closed and haven't had any problem since, but don't get your hopes too high just yet ;)

Some people are reporting that when they applied the 10.15.5 Supplemental update they could not see the new Beta build.

Nope, I installed the supplemental update but the beta was available before and it wasn't displayed. I even tried downloading the PKG manually from Apple's servers but installation fails. Really strange, never had this before and I am running every beta since the release of Mojave.

It could be, but the updates have different build numbers so it shouldn't really.
For me, I downloaded (but never installed) the 10.15.5 supplemental update last night, and this morning the 10.15.6 beta 1 was available (and I was still on 10.15.5 )

Hey, did you try if the following works with 10.15.6?

- External display in extend display mode (no mirroring)
- Close lid of macbook
- Sleep for at least 5 mins (the macbook, not you :))
- Wake up macbook with external peripheral / by opening the lid

Many thanks!

Can you try the instructions I provided above to see if you can reproduce it without using your doc and monitors? All you have to do is download and play that 4k video for 30-60 seconds.

This didnt cause the kernal panic but a code i am trying to excecute is causing everything becomes slow at first and then everything along with touch bar freezes and the laptop reboots itself after a few minutes

i tried running the video you suggested in two windows simultaneously but its fine . no other solutions are working please tell me if u solved yours

Im still having this problem even after 10.15.5 supplemental update. Anyone else here who shares the misery? After crash, do you also have trouble booting up? That folder with a question mark flashing?

Sounds like your drive might be failing.

Forgive me im not that good with computers.. it that’s the case, thats a hardware problem? The drive has to be replaced?

What year and model Mac computer are you using?

Something you can try that might help:
  1. Boot into recovery mode (restart while pressing and holding command-key and R-key).
  2. Start up Disk Utility.
  3. Click on View->Show All Devices
  4. Click on device above Container.
  5. Check what "S.M.A.R.T. status" is. Should be Verified.
  6. Click on and run First Aid
If the drive is failing then you will probably see more issues come up. Just make sure that you run regular backups.

Maybe download and try Smart Utility app. It has a free trial.

Thanks for this bro. Im using MB Pro 13” 2017. Will definitely try this one. Thanks again.

I am running on 10.15.6 Beta 1 now for a while and so far I can say that for Vega20 (Radeon VII, Pro Vega II) no graphics driver fixes are implemented. As a reminder: In 10.15.4 they ported some of the Navi10/14 bugs over to this architecture causing graphical glitching in a lot of games and instability in FCPX with the same crash reports that occur on Navi cards since always.

In 10.15.6 Beta 1 FCPX is still crashing on a regular basis when editing complex projects for a while (like once every 30 minutes). Also graphical glitches in games are still there, no improvement. Actually, the glitching got even worse and now extended to the system UI. See this:

Now I haven't had time to test my RX 5700 XT yet but I guess Navi hasn't got any fixes as well and I am sure that Navi cards show the same glitching in the system UI now. Maybe MBP16 owners, users with a Navi eGPU or Mac Pro customers running a W5700X can report on that.

Edit: Vega20 suffering from window server related crashes now as well

Thats not great news. Given how long these issues have been outstanding I'm wondering if Apple actually has any ability to return stability. I hope 10.16 has a different dev team to that of Catalina.

Seems the copywriters at least aren't the same people developing the graphics drivers. 😆

About macOS GPU drivers
Mac hardware and GPU software drivers have always been deeply integrated into the system. This design fuels the visually rich and graphical macOS experience as well as many deeper platform compute and graphics features. These include accelerating the user interface, providing support for advanced display features, rendering 3D graphics for pro software and games, processing photos and videos, driving powerful GPU compute features, and accelerating machine learning tasks. This deep integration also enables optimal battery life while providing for greater system performance and stability.
Apple develops, integrates, and supports macOS GPU drivers to ensure there are consistent GPU capabilities across all Mac products, including rich APIs like Metal, Core Animation, Core Image, and Core ML. In order to deliver the best possible customer experience, GPU drivers need to be engineered, integrated, tested, and delivered with each version of macOS. Aftermarket GPU drivers delivered by third parties are not compatible with macOS.
The GPU drivers delivered with macOS are also designed to enable a high quality, high performance experience when using an eGPU, as described in the list of recommended eGPU chassis and graphics card configurations below. Because of this deep system integration, only graphics cards that use the same GPU architecture as those built into Mac products are supported in macOS.

On the supplemental update and I feel like it has actually gotten worse. Just had a full lockup that didn't reboot the system, then after rebooting it crashed again 90 seconds later according to the spindump.

Also had a crash during startup once. and I haven't installed the supplemental update. Messy...

I installed 10.15.6 Beta (19G36e) on my 16" Macbook pro today. Nothing has been fixed, I put the device to sleep and it automatically restarted minutes later (previously it used to restart when I wake it up). The reported error was:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff801609009c): Sleep transition timed out after 180 seconds while calling power state change callbacks. Suspected bundle: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily. Thread 0x33b8.

What's even worse is that everything seems unstable, the machine got extremely slow for some reason after the first boot, kinda expected for a beta, however, nothing looks promising.

Hi! Do you also have trouble booting up after the crashes? Do you also see the flashing folder qwith a question mark?

Confirmed. Tested my RX 5700 XT again today in 10.15.6 B1. Sleep, wake, started video encoding process, repeated the cycle once more --> freeze. And the Radeon VII is unstable like never before. I have crashes multiple times a day now.

exactly the same!!!!!! it drives me crazy!

When I used 10.14 there was no pb! only recently when I updated to 10.15.5. And I always use an external monitor and enable power nap and automatically switch graphic card.

Same here. Crash every time after wakeup from sleep after 10.15.5
I'm using MBP 16" with two external monitor with c to display port cable. No problem at all before update.

Not really, one time it was stuck then I had to press the power button for a couple of seconds. I don't really get what you mean with the question mark but as someone has mentioned it seems like a different issue.

Another time I got a different error:

panic(cpu 10 caller 0xffffff7f9d7a1ad5): userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from com.apple.WindowServer in 120 seconds
service: com.apple.logd, total successful checkins since load (1390 seconds ago): 140, last successful checkin: 0 seconds ago
service: com.apple.WindowServer, total successful checkins since load (1360 seconds ago): 124, last successful checkin: 120 seconds ago

Also hitting this issue, and it drives me nuts. Anybody found any workaround for this madness?

Never upgrading again without time machine backup. was too rushed to try the new battery health feature. Is there any way to downgrade without losing settings and apps configurations?
Don't wanna be worried about closing the lid while doing my job. This is their "top of line" laptop, what a joke!
