Yes, here.

I have a MacBook Pro 16" connected to an Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Pro Dock connected to a Dell S2719DM Display via HDMI.

Same issues as mentioned above. MacBook Pro freezes and restarted every time is in sleep mode.

Run whatever video editor you are using without the HDMI display connected and see if you get the same issue.

Just for the information. I have a 2017 MBP that is connected to an elgato dock 3 and has a Apple 27 inch display connected via an apple thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter from the USB-C on the dock and a LG 27inch monitor connected via a active Displayport to HDMI cord from alogic. I've remaind on 10.15.1 and I have no kernel panics at all. I do have the display drivers getting bandwidth incorrect to the LG if i disconnect and reconnect. Maybe that helps or doesn't. There are many on the very long thread on the Apple Community that highlight that the firmware upgrades in the releases are stopping external displays from functioning. eg. go forward and you can not roll back. There is no way to restore the firmware to what it was before upgrading or even installing on a USB or external SSD. Once you install the firmware sticks and external monitor issues remain irrespective of the OS being downgraded etc.

L2 just got back to me and they said it's an issue with WindowServer. They cannot pin where the issue is coming from. I disabled Metal in Adobe Premier and changed it to OpenCL, so we will see how that goes. Just spitballing now until they get back to me.

Thanks for sharing. How do you switch to OpenCL? and how are connected to external monitor? HDMI or Display Port?

I am using USB-C to HDMI for one of my monitors, and Displayport active -> HDMI to another.
Yes I am using HDMi on my 2019 16" macbook pro using apples usb-c to hdmi adapter and running power both ways through the adapter and ive tried directly into mbp. same result.

Hello,

I have a 2019 16" MBP as well connecting to 2 4K monitors through usb type-c while at work and an LG wide screen non 4K through HDMI with the Apple adapter while at home. Like everyone else, since the last update, things have gotten a whole lot worse. Now, when i lock my screen, the display will go dark after 5 - 30 secs and then after a couple minutes the system will reboot. Both times the laptop lid is closed.

I have submitted to Apple as suggested earlier on in this thread, but wanted to give my experience with it here as well. The reboot from the locking of the screen is a new one for me since the last update.

I'd suspect the best bet maybe another 2-6 months and 10.16 rather than Catalina. For myself that will be a full 18 months of issues with the OS and external monitors. All reported to Apple. Thats longer than the warranty period of the laptop. Non-performing OS for that period of time is not a good customer experience. I'm going to update my laptop in December and I am seriously thinking of needing to move to some thing non-Apple because of the incredible slow ability of Apple to address problems. They like to concenrate on providing non-useful features rather than stability and as I am using this to make a living most of those 'great' features I never use. Never thought I would say it but this could be the end of my Mac purchases.

I already addressed how to reproduce the crashes and what is causing them in my bug report template posted across the forum and this topic.
Regarding Windows, never had issues there. RX 5700 XT running rock solid over there since I got it.

Regarding non Navi macs with the same kernel panics, I am aware of this issue. It started with 10.15.4. In this release Apple ported some Navi bugs over to other GPUs. The one affected by them most is Vega20 (Radeon VII, Pro Vega II).

Interesting data. I just suffered my second such panic on my MBP 2018 Vega 20 + mDP/USB-C Dell.

Not that I'm trying to defend Apple, but I'd like to say things aren't necessarily better ”on the other side". In Windows 10 on the same computer using a RX 5700 XT graphics card (AMD's ”Navi” architecture) I have had stability issues since November 2019 when I bought the card. Both when waking from sleep (black screen) and sudden black screen or a sudden ”freeze” while using the computer. It was just recently when I upgraded Windows 10 to the ”May 2020 update” and AMD driver to 20.5.1 that it got stable.

At the same time you always have the option to go Nvidia when you run Windows…

Experienced this crash for the first time today. Computer was completely shut off when I went to use it today. Weirdly enough the panic was dated 06/06/20 at first but now it's saying in the console that it happened just under an hour ago. Running 19F101, 2018 15" MBP 2.6 i7. (Note: it's formatted different from others because I pulled it from the Console after I had already submitted it to Apple).

Having the same crash constantly after waking up from sleep. Monitor also flickers. This is on a brand-new 2019 16" MBP. Connected via A/V Multiadapter dongle to an external HDMI monitor (Dell S2716DG).

It seems that I have a different error with Macbook pro 15'', 2018 and LG Ultrafine 5k connected. But it happens after sleep too. The error appeared after latest update.

Is it like serious? Could anyone tell me what's wrong here?

Could it be because of Satechi USB-C hub?

Run whatever video editor you are using without the HDMI display connected and see if you get the same issue.

Same Problem with the crash. Also while playing with games.
Today I switched to a Dell S2719DC USB C Monitor. Same problem here while connected directly via USB C to the MacBook Pro without connected to the Thunderbolt Dock.

Never upgrading again without time machine backup. was too rushed to try the new battery health feature. Is there any way to downgrade without losing settings and apps configurations?
Don't wanna be worried about closing the lid while doing my job. This is their "top of line" laptop, what a joke!

It never gets better - it only gets worse.

Sigh. I received this 16" brand new on Thursday. 1st of these kernel panics was yesterday. And another today. The machine's standalone for now so no external monitor, dock or other peripherals are connected. Just the power cable.

I am experiencing the issue as well on my166" MBP when it is plugged into an external display. It happens like clockwork. As soon as my Mac goes to screen saver mode when I come back to open it up it has already crashed. Not sure if this is related or now but I have also experienced crashes after when using Microsoft teams.

Your main thread is hanging (waiting for something?) and the watchdog is forcing a crash by killing it. What software have you installed?

I've been having kernel panics on my 2015 iMac. I have two monitors attached to with display port to hdmi adapters. Perhaps this the same problem as discussed in the thread? (Also have google drive file stream installed which I've heard might be relevant)
