Fast flicking isn’t the best demonstration. How about this?

I can see it in this one. It didn’t really bother me and it’s a repetitive motion that I wouldn’t do in normal use.
However I’m still on the fence about the upgrade. I can order one right now and pick it up in a few hours. However I’m just not sure it’s justified.

If you're not trading in for credit - might as well give it a go and see if you'll enjoy it, no?

I’m not trading it in. But I can’t even be bothered with the whole process of returning it or keeping it when my mini 5 is working perfectly. Maybe I’m just not excited enough for it. Apart from the speakers I can’t think of one new feature that I’m really interested in or will make a difference for me.

I hear ya' -- Speaking of "speakers" - I did find that to be an enjoyable upgrade in the 1/2 hour I spent with a Mini6.

I saw it in person on Sunday. Not with my mini 5. But when I was there it was just meh for me. It did not instigate any desire to upgrade.

Agreed.
As I'm sure you've noticed in my posts -- I find it to be a pretty lackluster "upgrade" from a Mini 5.

I really was hoping for much more of a clear win after waiting for this to come.
Oh well

Steve Jobs literally held a press event to say that the iPhone 4 didn’t have a faulty antenna and that “all phones lose signal” when held the wrong way.

Anyway I have yet to notice the “scrolling issue.“
LOL

I miss Steve Jobs. It was always a party.

Im pretty sure if I remember the events correctly. There was a real email from STEVE JOB'S inbox itself, replying to a customer explaining that the customer was holding it wrong, therefore using it wrong, the device was working exactly how it was designed, therefore it was a non-issue. Every once in a while I stop and remember fondly about how silly the reality of this whole thing was.

I think you're exaggerating "majority". Even if it's a problem for like 10,000 people, chances are it's a non-issue for the rest of the millions of customers who bought the mini. Certainly could be more affected with the mini 6 compared to previous models but not enough to constitute a majority.

Mind, I think there's like the same 20 or so posters complaining about jelly roll here on MR.

I personally have a problem with OLED iPhones (causes migraines) but I'm sure hundreds of millions other customers are perfectly happy with theirs. My solution? Use the iPhone SE2.

I'm PWM sensitive user too. My solution is NOT using SE2 or century-old tech, my solution is to demand Apple for much improved screen on future flagship iPhone and never ignore our group of people!

We are just different. We deserve the best tech and balance health at the same time!

Because the best way to use the iPad is to constantly scroll it very fast rather than, you know, use it normally.

News flash: a magazine also flexes when you flip the pages real fast. But I don't know who tries to read an article while switching pages.

You just make me speechless.... :)

Yes. And then a few weeks later it had boiled over to the point where he scheduled a live press event comparing the iPhone 4’s signal reception with other phones and still insisted there wasn’t an issue, but that Apple would be giving away rubber bands to customers to place over their phones.

Ok good job. This convinces me there is an issue. I couldn't see it at first but once I did I could not un-see it. I would not like that.

Frankly though the solution is if you do not like it, then return the product. I am almost positive you will not have any issues returning the item. If you do, then maybe make a fuss. I think demanding recall is jumping straight to making a fuss? Like I said if you do not like it, do not buy it. It almost seems unfair to demand Apple redesigns/manufactures the product just because the consumer said so.

Yeah it is very disappointing that Apple would do this. Ok so lets teach them a lesson by refusing their lesser products. Maybe they are pushing boundaries, trying to see what they can get away with? I would not doubt a corporation would do that.

I forgot about the rubber bands. Too funny!

And how's that "demanding Apple for much improved screen on future flagship iPhone and never ignore our group of people!" working out for you?

Personally, I'm more practical. I doubt Apple's gonna do anything for the maybe less than 1% of their customer base with issues. If a product of theirs causes issues for me, then I just avoid it.

And honestly, I'm more an iPad person anyway. My only gripe about the iPhone SE is battery life. Otherwise, it does everything I need it to.

I have both iPad Pro 11 and the iPad Mini 6th gen. I have not experienced jelly roll effect on either device. I use the mini in portrait mode as an e-reader, using the Kindle app.

I will invite Jobs to my next house party... finger crossed....
I’ll save the bulk of my Steve Jobs comments for next week’s article about the 10th anniversary of his death, but the more time passes the sillier these “Steve Jobs would / would not have“ comments become. We don’t know what Steve Jobs would have done, or what he would think of Apple’s product line. He was against the original iPad mini and only approved its development after Eddy Cue convinced him there would be a market for it. It wasn’t even released until more than a year after his death. It has a good following and has made inroads in enterprise markets (we’ll see what the $500 price tag does but given the longevity of iPads I think airlines, etc will still buy them).

Apple Watch wasn’t even on Apple’s road map. Apparently it was Jony Ive who pushed it, and Tim Cook approved, wanting to show Apple could release a major new product under his watch (no pun intended). It took a few years to come into form but Apple Watch is a hugely successful product now. Services alone would be a Fortune 100 company. Apple has produced an Emmy winning TV show viewable only with its own devices.

Entire product lines have come and gone over the past 10 years. E.g. the 12” MacBook, original HomePod. The iPod is mostly gone. The iPhone is now offered in many different sizes and price points. Would he approve of all of Apple’s decisions? Surely not, but it is difficult to argue with Apple’s overall success.

Why are so many saying the "jelly" effect can only be seen in slow mo video? It's super obvious on mine in normal use and is very distracting - it cannot be unseen (and so is being returned because of this).

If you don't see it or don't have it, great, but why deny it's an issue for others? I've never seen an LCD display have this jelly/tearing effect before.
You see, they have bought the product. They cannot return it. So, they justify it by denying the problem exists. They also feel that any admittance of faults in iDevices is an attack on Apple, which they cannot tolerate. They are happy or fake happiness. We cannot really find fault with that behaviour. That is the way they are, I guess.

They should maybe source a new panel, and quietly offer replacements for units displaying the issue badly/ for those really bothered by it. Full on recall doesn’t seem necessary, Lisa Gade’s review suggested it’s not as pronounced (at least for her unit) as some here make out. Notably her mini 5 also exhibited it to a degree as well.

If we all do our part & return these iPads citing the jelly scroll as the reason, we might get them to fix it!
