It's subjective. S3 sucks for my use, but may be better for yours.

I KNOW, WE'LL ALL USE WHAT SUITS US BETTER INDIVIDUALLY.

Amazing difference between someone calling himself "iFanboy" (saying S3 may be better for your use), and the Fandroid (saying "Um... rationalize how you'd like, fanboys, the S3 is still better.").

So an Apple fan can post his or her opinion without ad hominem attacks, and without making unjustified claims that his opinion has to be the only correct one.

----------

Upon reading the stuff on the pic, to begin with it wasn't samsung throwing lawsuits around to begin with.

So Samsung hasn't been suing anyone for patent infringement? Just go on Google, and you will find they have been suing Panasonic, Westinghouse, Polaroid, Alba, and so on. They also have been convicted for price fixing _six times_ in the last twelve months. They deliberately ignore any reports about working conditions in China; when there are reports about underage employees Samsung hides behind "we have seen no evidence" - obvious when you close both eyes, but that doesn't make the problem go away.

DPI isn't everything.

Samsung S3 uses a pentile display. Each "pixel" is not made up of red, green, and blue, but alternating pixels are made of red and green, followed by blue and green (the green sub pixels are half size). As a result, a pentile display is physically incapable of displaying a single black pixel on its own. A pentile display is also incapable of using "Cleartype" technology where pixels for text can be positioned with 1/3rd pixel resolution, unlike the iPhone display.

So while the pixel count is 1136x640 vs 1280x720, sub pixel count is 1136x1920 vs 1280x1440, which makes the iPhone 5 the clear winner.

Seriously, can we just have some sort of unspoken agreement to simply ignore any anti-apple sentiment out there? I know it's hard, but I personally feel there is no point try to win an argument with them. In the end, we just look as stupid as them (and having just come from Imore's android forum, I say it's pretty retarded, with half the threads in the 1st page of the S3 page devoted to bashing the iphone5 alone).

You use your phone, I use mine, we don't cross the line and everyone's happy. I rarely ever see pro-apple people invading android forums to do the very same thing these pro-android campers are doing to us, so I don't understand what we ever did to step on their toes and earn their acrimony so?

IMHO, The S3 is ugly. And after two years with Android I am not impressed at all. Ready for a breath of fresh air. I could care less about who's phone gets the better benchmark. I am quite content though, that the iPhone 5 appears to get great performance with (seemingly) less under the hood.

I have been looking hard at the forthcoming HTC One X+ with its Tegra 3+ quad-core. Now that I see the iPhone 5's A6 can run with the best of them, I don't have to sacrifice my desire to get out of Android for a spec based fix.

I love how "lighter" is now a plus when before the heavier iphone gave it heft and "added to the premium-feel."

Just another switcheroo with iPhone fans. Once Apple does it, then it's great.

Was Gatorade bashing Powerade?

It went both directions and then one, I think Coke, ended up suing Pepsi over how much magnesium it had it in or something like that.

----------

No it's not. For my needs, the iPhone 5 is better. Simple as that.

Best post. I don't care what phone anyone thinks is better. All that matters is what phone suits MY needs best. And even then, it only applies to ME. I would rather not be bashed for what I want or need out of a device and I hate to have to justify to strangers why I might like this feature or that feature.

Samsung has to realize that normal people care less about specs. Instead of constantly comparing itself to iPhone, they should tell consumers what their phone are actually good at.

I like the idea, but some of those items don't carry much of a punch for those "in the know."

For instance, the "Quad-Core" statement isn't confirmed, and a possibly-legit GeekBench shows that it's likely a custom-made dual-core: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6292/iphone-5-a6-not-a15-custom-core

There's also versions of "AirPlay" and turn-by-turn "Maps" on the Galaxy, so I'm going for stuff that's completely not arguable with. =)

I'll think of some things to add after I get home from work.

Faster Processor
Higher DPI Display
Thinner
Lighter
Better Camera
Larger App Store
Superior Build Quality: In terms of precision during the manufacturing process.

Those are pretty hard facts.

They are indeed pretty hard facts. However: -

Faster processor - Galaxy S3 is plenty fast enough for my uses.
Higher DPI display - don't care, S3 screen is gorgeous, plenty good enough.
Thinner - don't care, S3 is thin and light.
Lighter - don't care, S3 is thin and light.
Better camera - wouldn't mind a better camera. S3 camera is decent but I'd never complain about a better one!
Larger app store - don't care, Google Play Store has everything anyway.
Superior build quality - don't mind plastic.

People have different needs. The Galaxy S3 is plenty "pretty" enough IMO and I wouldn't change the design of it.

----------

No it doesn't.

That's a third-party app you need to download from Google's store. And it comes with ads. And it doesn't integrate with the OS at all.

If you start counting third-party apps as being a feature of the phone, then my phone's feature list includes Angry Birds.

When people are comparing products, they're going to consider what they can download from the app/play store. Why wouldnt they?

"Larger app store" is not an advantage if you're not allowed to consider apps in your considerations of which platform to buy into.

Not responding to it at all is the best policy. The state of Apple, pre-orders, and customer satisfaction speak for themselves. Samsung looks petty putting these types of ads out.

Honestly I think its a waste of time on either side. Those who want a GS3 will get a GS3, those who want an iP5 (or 4S or 4) will get that. Buy what you want and the phone that meets your needs.

If you are swayed by stats then that's cool. The iP5 does do simultaneous voice/data but I chose to get it anyways. It meets my criteria and that wasn't a critical factor for me.

You have to be dumb to give any kind of personal or financial information to a fly by night dev like who made that app.

But hey, it's the Internet. We can trust anyone

Attido is a large software company - they're trustworthy.

This would be like calling Apple a "fly by night dev" :p

Countering Samsung ads is Apple's job, plus there are already many pissed off fan boys who made their own ads. You can add yours to the list.
It looks nice though, but you have to be 100% certain on the features you post/

What's the best counter? Letting the numbers speak for themselves.

I agree fully with that, however that is not what I was responding to.

I responded to allegations of the galaxy S3 also having passbook, except it being called passwallet, as if it were a feature of the phone (or the phone's os, in iOS's case).

It isn't. It's a third-party app that needs to be separately downloaded and has a giant advertisement banner at the top of the screen and unlike passbook on iOS won't pop up a pass on the lock screen when this is relevant.

Basically this is exactly the same as saying angry birds is a feature of iPhone 5: it's a third-part app that can be downloaded from the app store and does not integrate with the OS. (And in the iOS case does not come with ads.)

I fought back.

After owning 4 Samsung made Android smart phones, I got an iPhone 4S and now an iPhone 5.

I spoke with my dollars.

Don't you have anything better to do with your time than to do unpaid marketing work for Apple? Weaksauce.
