They have every right to be able to SEND A PICTURE.... :confused:

Not really. It’s not like MMS was announced as part of the original iPhone when it came out. They didn’t lie or cheat anyone. They just didn’t add it. They didn’t have to. The only thing “owed” to you is what is promised when the phone is first announced. If they said, “The iPhone is going to have MMS..” and then it didn’t, yeah, he has a right to be pissed off. He bought an iPhone with NO promise or even idea of MMS being added. So yeah..

I Agree, well said. :)

I NEVER post here but after reading this post I had too.

To everybody who is bashing this guy; shut the **** up. You are flaming a guy for making a totally valid argument. The original iPhone can play music, games, videos, and surf the ****ing internet. It should be able to send a picture message since almost every piece of **** flip phone can (example: motorola razr. That phone is ANCIENT).

If a piece of hardware is fully capable of doing something through a simple software update, choosing to only enable it on certain models is a scam. Most original iphone owners paid anywhere up to 500-600 dollars on their phones. They have every right to be able to SEND A PICTURE.... :confused:

Right? These people (including myself) purchased a phone knowing that it did not have the capability to send MMS, to demand that apple adds any functionality to a device is stupid. Yes, Apple adds features to their devices as time goes on, but to demand that a product that is no longer being produced, under no warranty, and most likely nearing the end of it's life is spoiled, ignorant, and useless.

LOL

Tell me what harm does it do for you if first gen people get MMS?

spoiled? ignorant? useless?

What on earth are you talking about?:cool:

If this argument was to hold any water, then there would be no way to update the OS on "older, outdated, no longer produced machines"

Apple is more than happy to let first gen phones get the latest OS but to hold out on MMS is quite absurd.

Personally I couldn't care less about MMS. If I want to send someone a picture from my iPhone, I'll just use this crazy little (and free!) thing called e-mail. :eek:

yup works for me

facebook + e-mail is how I get all my pictures , I have no need for people to send me naked pictures or grainy cell phone pictures of stuff :p

my only guess is that teenagers are the only ones that are really going to use MMS

Some people are saying that the 2G was sold w/o MMS, so people shouldn't whine about it not getting MMS, as it was never part of the promised feature set. But am I remembering things wrong, or wasn't the 3G also sold w/o MMS when it first came out? So the 3G gets a feature upgrade, and the 2G doesn't.... I can see why some 2G owners would feel left out.

The iPhone originally didn't come with...

* The App Store
* iTunes
* Cut/Copy/Paste
* Advanced Landscape Suport
* Scientific Calculator
* etc.

... but now it has it. Enabled by a software update because it was POSSIBLE. Also because it was REQUESTED.

The iPhone also originally didn't come with...

* Ability to X-Ray
* Power to alter time space continuum
* Heat Vision
* Fire a Missle

and still doesnt have it BECAUSE IT'S NOT POSSIBLE.

Now I know why I never posted here before; a good amount of you guys are retards.

I have an iPhone 3GS and I could care less since I have MMS anyway, but you guys are bashing this guys argument for no reason. Think before you flame just to flame.

Sure other phones had MMS for a while back (and why it took so long, I have no idea), but no one bought an iPhone 1G with any promises of ever seeing it. Upgrade or stop whining.

See this is an exmple of why apple users are not though of as the brightest bulbs in the box and are thought of as blind followers.

Call a spade a spade and ATT/Apple shoudl come out and say "We want to keep this feature from original iphone owners to make them buy a new phone" because THAT is what is happening.. nothing more, nothing less.

Umm I really doute it AT&T. This is typic Apple BS. They force upgrades down on us. Dropping odd hardware like a rock. there computers from 5 years ago (Pro end computers) Can not run snow lepoard but my middle of the road tower PC from 5 years ago will be able to run windows 7.

This is Apple doing. There is no Hardware reason why the orginal iPhone can not run MMS. I think people should demand the BS reasoning from apple why it can not do it.

I do think that the people here who are defending apple just are blind followers. Apple screwed up a little over 2 years ago and they refuse to admit it and try to make it better.

The RDF is falling for Apple and BS crap like not lettingthe orginal iPhone support it is a prime example. Not updating you iPhone honestly is a lot more money in AT&T bank because they just keep on charging you and no $400 subsidy to pay apple.

I do agree Apple claiming to be green and instead they encourage more waste. So much for being green apple you just add to the problem not reducing it.

Normally I'd agree, but considering MMS has been around for years before first iPhone. I think it's kind of weird to be two years late on a feature that is pretty much standard, and label it as incompatible.

If MMS was just invented this year it'd make sense.

To the OP your post made a lot of sense in some parts but your childishness killed it, not that I think your complaint will make a difference either way.

I agree with this 100%.

These days, we have to accept that Apple has been thinking of new ways to force upgrades and earn extra money any way that they can. Long gone are the days of hem supporting old hardware for ages. They have a lot more active users these days. It didn't pay before to cut out users from upgrades, but now, obviously it does.

Anyone know why MMS was offered in the first place?

What harm would it do to support MMS on the older iphones?

MMS slow on edge? So in 2004/5 3G wasn't available yet but yet phones supported mms. Users seemed to ahve tolerated the speed.

I tell ya, That compass in my 3Gs has come in very handy.....

I haven't laughed so hard in a while. Some of you got this. Most of you didn't. This was never meant to be serious. If I want to send someone a picture, I use my phone. However, I do (or rather did) from time to time send pictures via mms. i know it's SOOOOO slow and substandard as some of you have pointed out... but I don't mind waiting the extra second. I am a big boy.. Most of the time.

I don't care if I wrote something nice, nobody at apple really cares. This was meant as a joke and a way for me to let off steam. Nothing more. I thought that maybe posting this people would laugh at the point I make... and some of you did.

Apple just wants to sell more phones. Those of you who defend them are infected with a disease. It is called greed. I feel bad for you as I know how contagious this greed is.
I don't really care about my phone. I am more concerned about how using my phone effects other people. Do you ever stop thinking about yourself to think this way?

Do I really need to add to the pile of waste that we have made from this sacred earth? NO. I want to respect it and show my appreciation for it. I do this in many ways. You should try it. You cannot do show your appreciation for the earth by throwing things away.

If you read my original post and did not even crack a grin. Then I feel sorry for you. Sorry that you sense of humor is so thin. Did you really think this was serious when I ended it with hugs? Look at my signature. Who puts that? ... I guess I do.

Sorry I didn't end each line with LOL for those of you with a remedial sense of humor. But I find LOL really ruins things. Drink something, smoke something, or do something to chill out and relax. Have fun and remember to laugh. Even if it is at someone else.

No! Ding Dong, wrong!! YOU PAID for a phone with x features, now it only has x features at that time of purchase.

No company is obligated in any shape or form to give you additional features.

If you want additional features, upgrade, and pay the price. Simple really.

You paid for a phone with x features but Apple doesn't exactly hide the fact that the iPhone gets regular firmware updates. Someone might decide to buy an iPhone firmly believing that the shortcomings will be fixed in a software update.

The fact of the matter is that there is no technical reason for Apple not to enable MMS in the 1st gen iPhone. The only reason is pure greed.

Are we sure it's greed? Doesn't Apple still get a piece of my monthly from AT&T? Pretty sure they do. I personally think this is all about AT&T's current network capabilities. This is also why 3G/3GS users had to wait. AT&T is just having a hard time keeping its network flowing properly due to such high usage.

I don't know if you noticed but America isn't the only country the iPhone has been released in.

AT&T's failures should not cause users on other networks in other countries to suffer.

It's not because of AT&T since 2G iPhones outside of the U.S. still don't get MMS. This is Apple's decision, just like not enabling video recording on the 3G.

It still doesn't entitle iPhone users to anything. It is crappy that Apple is doing this but you knew what you were getting when you bought the iPhone. No one should buy anything, even from Apple, because there might be new features in the future.

Find a way to get the 3GS, problem solved. Nothing you can do about the original iPhone having no MMS.

You bought the 1st gen iPhone with the knowledge that there was no MMS and there was a change it'd never come. You were fine with that, so don't get angry because of something you weren't supposed to get.

Seriously, that's just like "I'm signing this plan with 500 call minutes." and than say one year later "I want 1000 call minutes, this is not fair."

And over here, in NL, T-Mobile (official iPhone carrier in NL) is asking an half euro per MMS.

And oh, can someone tell me how popular MMS and SMS are in the USA? I thought it wasn't that popular.

Dude, your phone is 2+ years old. How long do you expect apple to support old hardware? Get a grip and get a 3GS if you want MMS so bad

Well considering that is a feature that should have been in the iPhone since day one, and even the most basic dumb phones have had it for years, I think it is kind of absurd for the OP to get a 3G or 3GS to obtain this capability. Why do you have to defend Apple with any decision they take? Like he said, if his original iPhone is working completely right and doesn't need to change it, he should have got this capability.

Actually, we don't know that to be true. That's is why I posture my words as the opinion that they are.

And maybe it is Apple. I wouldn't put it past Apple to say that it doesn't want the 1st generation iPhone doing MMS because of user experience. No different than when it got rid of floppy discs. If Apple doesn't think a technology will work exactly as it "wants" it to for users they will not utilize it. Sometimes for good and sometimes for bad.

I hope I never get that angry. It is a solvable problem from the user's side. If I still used my first generation iPhone, I would just be disappointed. But on the bright side it does a lot more than it did from day 1 and new iPhone optimized websites and apps still work on it.

Apple and AT&T are under no obligation to offer this to 1st generation iPhone users. "Should have" is completely subjective, IMO.

People keep comparing this to other phones which is absurd if you consider what people have gotten over the last 2 years in terms of updates. I am surprised there have been as many as there have been. Do other phones get multiple software updates a year? Not so much.

As far as technology goes this is the same old complaint. If you don't have the newest hardware you don't get every feature that is available. Sometimes you will but most of the time you won't. Deal with it. Computers, phones, cars, the list could go on.

Let's see

a) Insult right off the bat
b) bad grammar

You could have the solution to solve world hunger and I still wouldn't read the rest of the letter

FAIL
