I have already used this guide to jailbreak my phone. I installed an application that wasn't compatible with my iPhone because it ran 1.1.3. Then I restored my iPhone (after you told me to). Finally, I tried to re-jailbreak my phone using this guide again, but when it came to using iNdependence for the first time, it would "quit unexpectedly" every time, keeping me from progressing any further. I restored my iPhone again and tried (multiple times) to re-jailbreak again using this guide, and AGAIN had the same problem. I tried to download ZiPhone for my Mac and it just brought me to a website that had seemingly random letters and numbers. Please, if you know anything, help :(me.

sorry man. your just a lost cause. its people like you that make others think jailbreaking is risky buisness.

Easiest and quickest solution is as follows:

(1) Download and install latest version of ZiPhone from here:

http://www.downloadziphone.org/

(2) Restore your iPhone in iTunes to 1.1.4 (i.e. connect iPhone to computer and when iTunes recognises iPhone select 'Restore' option).

(3) Quit iTunes once this is complete then open ZiPhone and click on whichever option suits your needs (see screenshot below).

(4) ZiPhone will automatically complete the process within a few minutes.

I hope that this solves your problem. :)

Thanks, but it still doesn't install onto my computer. Once I click the button for installing it for OS X, it just loads a website with seemingly random letters and numbers (like a code or something), and I don't know how to actually download it. It seems like it should download when I click on the 'Z+:apple:+unlock' button, but what I said above happens. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm completely bewildered at why the download button doesn't download it.

If you are using Safari try using another browser, like FireFox for example and try with that:

This problem can happen sometimes when your browser doesn't handle the file type properly. You could try using Firefox as I suggested earlier or you could try one of the following two options:

(1) If you are using Safari select the url bar (website address bar at the top of your screen) and press option + enter and it should initiate the download of the problem file; or

(2) If the file downloads as text, let it finish then go to File then Save as, and save the file. Then remove the txt extension and you will have a .tbz file ready to be unzipped.

When I download ZiPhone, the file is just a link to the ZiPhone website. The file looks like a document with the safari symbol on it. Does this mean that I need to download FireFox and try it again?

Nevermind. I forgot about the last sentence you wrote. It'll be fine, now. I'll post again when I finish.:)

One last question: At the bottom of ZiPhone, where it gives the option to downgrade the baseband, does this mean that it will make my iPhone run 1.1.3 again instead of 1.1.4?

wow... it literally jailbroke my iPhone in less than 60 seconds... Thank you soooooo much!!!:D:D:D

1.1.4?

is it possible to do jailbreak my iphone if i have upgraded the software to 1.1.4?
please respond, thanks

Pleasure. Glad you got there in the end.

Yes. Use the ZiPhone method described a few posts back (No.622) and it will take no time at all.

i didnt see you had answered. sorry. so after i have completed this do i just continue with the jailbreak tutorial?

Not much point downgrading. Give it time and most worthwhile apps will be updated to work with the new firmware. In the meantime there is a 1.1.4 Compatibility Patch that you can use each time you want to install an older application:

(1) Add repo.ispazio.net to your sources.

(2) Install "1.1.4 Compatibility Patch".

(3) Install, for example, SummerBoard.

(4) Uninstall the patch.

It works!

how do i add repo.ispazio.net to my sources?

(1) Select Installer.

(2) Choose Sources (bottom right of screen).

(3) Select Edit, then Add, then type repo.ispazio.net into the box entitled 'Add Source".

(4) Click OK.

(5) Go through the same procedure to add www.dlubbat.com/iphone.xml to your sources.

(6) Install "1.1.4 Compatibility Patch" (Near the top of 'All Packages')

(7) Install Customize 1.1.3 from Dlubbat's Apps which you will find in 'All Packages'.

(8) Uninstall the patch.

(9) Install whatever Themes for Customize that you want.

It should work.

i jailbroke my iphone and now its broken!
everytime i turn it on white writting is all over the screen
and when i plug it in to my comp. itunes doesnt know its there
please someone help me!!!!
please!

how do i put it in recovery mode?

With the iPhone connected to your computer and with iTunes open, hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button together until the screen goes black, then release the sleep button but keep holding down the home button until iTunes recognises that that an iPhone in recovery mode is connected to your computer. Once this happens, release the home button and restore to Firmware 1.1.4.

More instructions on the process here:

i did that but now all my iphone will display is the white apple logo with the loading circle on top of it?

Keep trying, following the iClarified tutorial (link above) word for word, line by line. There is no reason for it not to work.

Incidentally, if you have got as far as initiating a restore, that in itself can take quite a while to complete. Perhaps 15 minutes or more. Be patient.
