The username has to be root and the password needs to be alpine.

You have the username as your own name... lol

lol. I'll try again. Thanks.:)

I did what you said, but it still doesn't work. Now it says this:

First, thanks for offering your help. I have a proble, though. Here's a picture of what pops up after I try to connect. Please help.

You're trying to SFTP into your iPhone right now, not connect via SSH. You need to select the right connection protocol wherever you do that in Cyberduck.

Really, doing this is Terminal is a lot easier than getting around the nuances of a new application at least for deleting a single file.

Erm, no it isn't. Cyberduck does SSH last I checked, but what you said makes no sense from a technical standpoint. You don't "SSH over SFTP", they're two completely different protocols.

EDIT: Wait a second...Cyberduck? Why are you telling him to use Cyberduck for SSH?

Ugh.

Justinthesaint: If you know your IP address, you can connect to your iPhone via terminal with "ssh root@<IPADDRESS>" with "alpine" as the password. If you aren't comfortable using Terminal, you can try Fugu (search google).

Just trust me on this one, I have been using cyberduck for ages now. In the program, when you select SFTP, in parenthesis it says, "(SSH Secure File Transfer).

Okay, I notice that the IP address that I see in System Preferences for my computer ends with 102, but I remember when I first jailbroke my iPhone, it ended with 101. I know that they are both connected to the same WiFi from my house. So, what's wrong?

Coletrain17, Cyberduck doesn't do SSH - it does FTP and SFTP (which is SSH Secure File Transfer, but not SSH itself).

There's nothing wrong...I would hope the IP addresses aren't the same. The last section of the IP address should be unique to the device unless something is seriously broken in your network setup.

Hmm, Im not trying to argue, Im just trying to help this dude out =P. Im just saying that from my own experience, Cyberduck has allowed me to do what this dude is trying to accomplish.

And Justin, please god tell me that you have tried going into installer and going to the uninstall tab......

So, if I want to use Terminal, how do I find the file quickly and easily?

I can't get into my phone. It shows the connect to iTunes picture, and iNdependence doesn't work.

That last post was a response to the question of if I have tried using Installer yet.

Then whats the point of un-installing an App when you can't even get into your phone? =P

I think that this application is what's keeping me from getting into my phone. When I installed it, it kept trying to restart the springboard. I think this whole problem is because it's probably not compatible with 1.1.3, which is what I'm running. But it didn't say that it wasn't compatible, and I just assumed that it was, because it was updated.

When I tried Terminal, I typed this: ssh root@<my IP address>

It didn't respond, and after about a minute, it says that it timed out.

Why isn't anything working?

I'm not familiar with fugu, cyberduck or terminal; what I use is transmit. It's not free, but you can use the trial version. You need to make sure you have openSSH installed on the iphone, if you don't you can't ssh into the iphone and you will probably have to do a full restore.

IYou will also need your iphone's ip address and since you can't access your iphone the best way is to go to your router's wifi setup page and find out (hopefully you know how to do this.) Once you got your iphone's ip open transmit and in the server box type in your iphone's ip address. The username is root, password is alpine and the protocol you'll use is sftp. Click connect and you should see your iphone's file structure. Browse or search around for the applications folder on your iphone(I'm assuming the dock.app is located there.)

how are your finding your phones ip address if your arent able to access your phone? if all your getting is the connect to itunes sign, how do you know if your phone is even connected to your network?

That's true, if your iphone isn't even connected to your wifi you're screwed and any instructions on SSHing into your phone will be useless. You will have to do a full restore.

My phone was connected to my IP address when this whole thing started, and it is always connected to the WiFi in my house that my computer is on. I remember what the IP address was when I first jailbroke my phone, and I assumed that it stays the same. Does it stay the same, or does the IP address constantly change? I'm confused.

So, how can I check to see if my phone is still connected to my WiFi in my house, and how can I make sure that I know the IP address?

without using the phones features i dont know how to do this. i suggest just doing a full restore and then using ZiPhone to re-jailbreak your phone.

Your ip usually changes unless you actually made your iphone's ip address static.

Why don't you just do a full restore? You can always restore your contacts and pictures from backups.

The only way I can think of finding your phone's ip address is to look in your router's setup page usually under something related to DHCP.

Does anyone think that I could do something to hack into my phone by holding the home button and sleep button then letting go of the home button like in the begining of the jailbreak? Could I do something like that to link to my WiFi IP address?

probably not

God damnit Justin, your really starting to piss me off.... You have literally posted about 40 times and you are just making yourself look dumb. You shouldn't have jailbroken your iphone if you knew you couldn't handle these problems yourself!!

And you are asking all of these questions because you wanted to save time by not having to re-Jailbreak? You could have restored, re-jailbroken, unlocked, whatever the hell you wanted, made a sandwich, taken a bath, go golfing, etc, in the time it has taken you to try to just get rid of one application?

Cmon man, man up and try to do some of this yourself. You're not getting any smarter by having other people do your crap for you.

Okay, I just restored, and now I'm going to try to re-jailbreak. Thanks for the motivation and thanks to everyone else for trying to help me.

Okay, I have restored my iPhone and updated it to 1.1.4, but I just can't seem to get past the first step of this guide again, where you have to hold the sleep/wake button and home button and the same time and then let go of the home button in the middle of the restart to make the iPhone's screen black. I can't time it right. I have also tried to download ZiPhone for my Mac, but it just brings me to a website with random numbers and letters. Can someone please tell me how to re-jailbreak my iPhone easily? Also, can I jailbreak my iPhone on 1.1.3 again, or do I have to jailbreak on 1.1.4, now that I am on 1.1.4?

Nevermind. I finally got past the first step and I'm going to continue using this guide to jailbreak on 1.1.3, so I'm sorry that I wasted everybody's time. Thanks to everyone who helped me yesterday and the day before.:D

iNdependence still "quit unexpectedly" every time I try to use it. I'm at the begining of the guide, and I can't get iNdependence to work without it quitting unexpectedly. Does anyone know what's wrong and what I can do?:confused::confused:

So, can someone please tell me why iNdependence isn't working and how I can fix it? Or can someone please tell me how to intall and use ZiPhone???

DUDE! You really don't need to post 6 times in a row!! Are you telling me now that you can't even download a program off the internet? If you can't do that, just sell your computer and your iphone.

If you can't even get your phone in DFU mode, how the hell are you going to use terminal or do half the stuff in this guide?

I highly reccomend that you don't even try this guide because you are NEVER going to be able to do it. Find out how to download Ziphone cause thats your only option...
