You have confirmed my next step thanks!

No worries, thank you for your advice.

Having a day to think about it, I remember when completing the jail break in 1.1.2 that it connected to itunes without any activation screen and started to sync etc. So for now I shall start again and stop when I get to 1.1.2.

Lets see what happens, thanks for the suggestion. :) Will let you know..

Well apologies if I'm wrong, but at the moment I stand by what I said, the 1.1.3 jailbreak doesn't bypass activation.

Having been through the process myself it worked perfectly with my iPhone SIM (apps & phone service). When I put my other O2 SIM in I had no service, when I connected to iTunes it tried to activate and told me I didn't have a valid iPhone SIM (the same SIM worked happily after jailbreaking in 1.1.2).

hey, can someone PLEASE help me. Im almost done, but when i go to run the cmd, i must be doing something wrong. It doesent ask for a password. just a big list of options pops up.

thanks

hello first off i am new to this site and want to say hello to all,and now i can get down to business, so to speak. I was reading the thread about jailbreaking an ootb 1.1.3, and it seems very useful and detailed, the only question I have is will the jailbreak work on a phone if it is already activated?
I was trying aimlessly to unlock it as soon as I got it, (wish I had seen this thread first) and when all had failed that i tried, I caved and activated it with at&t, now I'm wondering as I said if I can still jailbreak it even though I already activated it,as the only thing I could find in the thread was using a non activated I phone. If someone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. thank you very much.

Yes. I got my iPhone the day after it came out, and I activated it with AT&T and everything that dat when I got home. I jailbroke it 2 days ago from this site. Just follow the instructions carefully, and it'll work.

well it does everything over wi-fi correct, so it doesent have to be plugged in?now when i put in the command, i do cd desktop.. that works. then i put in pscp -r Jailbreak-1.1.3\* root@192.168.1.101:/

and i get "no such file or directory." this is what i have on the desktop

putty,pscp,Jailbreak-1.1.3.. if i try to click on jailbreak 1.1.3 it says windows cannot open this file.. which i would think is normal... thanks

to kain (and ANYONE else who can help)

hey i think youre looking in your Mac's HD library as opposed to your account library. open finder and click on your account name (Justin) or whatever it is, and go in through that library. MobileSync should be there (in the Application Support folder).

I looked in iTunes first, but then I just used search to find what I think is the file. The problem is, it's not in the folders that the guide says it should be in (I think it's because my iPhone is one of the first ones). I don't even have the folder "MobilSync" or anything similar to it in the Application Support folder. I really just need someone that's good at this stuff to tell me the command that I need to tell my computer in Terminal to get this folder from my desktop (where I now keep it) to my iPhone, unlike the guide, which tells me how to get it onto my iPhone from the "MobilSync" folder, which does not exist on my phone.

i got a bit further, but it doesent ask me for a password, did anyone else have this problem? also, it popped up putty and it says " putty fatal error" Network error: Cannot assign requested address

EDIT!!!
it asks me for a password, but wont let my type in anything!!! IM GETTING SO CLOSE. PLEASE HELP!!!

i have a question.
first, i should say that this is a fantastic guide...but on to the problem.
i can make it through the guide perfectly for most of the way; in fact, i've done it so many times now, i've memorized everything. however, when i get to step 22 (im on an osx), i can only finish the first half. when it comes to the second/third entry which i believe to be "sh install.sh" or something, terminal does all the work; it takes about five-seven minutes. however, when the process finishes, the connection does not terminate and the iphone does not reboot, leaving me with a service-less 1.1.2 jailbroken iphone. any suggestions?

in that case i havent been waiting long enough

I Still need help...

For those of you that might actually be able to help me (like kain), I have completed the guide and now have a jailbroken iPhone on 1.1.3, but now I am trying to get my iPhone backup to get back onto my iPhone. I have done what the guide says to in the Questions section, but it doesn't work. It gets iTunes to go to the Restore Backup tab, but after it says it has restored, my iPhone still doesn't have any of the informaiton from the backup. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME???

Help

If there's anyone reading this, please read the posts that I made today. I have a theory as to why my iPhone still can't retrieve my backup from before I jailbroke it. Right after I jailbroke my iPhone, iTunes opened and synced with my iPhone. I think that during that first sync, my iPhone coppied over my prejailbreak backup with the postjailbreak backup (which means that it deleted my information and replaced it with blank files). If you know enough about this to comment, PLEASE tell me ANYTHING that you know!!!

Hey guys. I finished successfully. My iPhone is now in 1.1.3 with the phone functioning, BUT whenever I try to install anything, I get "Main script execution failed!"

Right after everything was done, I opened Installer.app and it crashed right away. I followed the steps on the guide where you have to download a new Installer.app etc.. and when I opened the new Installer.app it opened without crashing.

I already have BSD Subsystem installed.

I noticed that "Community Services" was not installed, so I went ahead and installed it, and IT WORKED! But still everytime I try to install any other application, I get the script execution error.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: I already tried this method but it doesn't work

That happened to me, too. I think it just happens when you restart your iPhone. So from now on when you need to restart it, you have to turn it off then turn it back on.

busting out of the restore screen after 1.1.3 jailbreak

That happened to me, too. I think it just happens when you restart your iPhone. So from now on when you need to restart it, you have to turn it off then turn it back on.

I have also had this happen, and also got it out of restore mode with INdependence.

Usually, it happens if one of the apps locks up.

Please HELP ME!!!

I have a very strange issue with my iPhone. I attempted to install MobileScrobber and Contacts | Homescreen. When I tried to install them, it started to install and then quickly quit and went to the home screen. I figured that they just didn't install because my phone is running 1.1.3. Later, when I downloaded Make It Mine, Intaller did the same thing as before (quitting and going to home screen), but I knew that it was comparable with 1.1.3 so I turned my phone off then on again. I then was able to download Make it Mine (which changes the AT&T logo to whatever you type). I experimented with what I liked and used it several times. I wanted to see what it looked like before, so I pressed revert. When my iPhone's homescreen came back up, I had both MobileScrobber and Contacts | Homescreen on my homescreen. However, neither of them show up in Installer in the Unintall tab, and though, Contact | Homescreen works, MobileScrobber doesn't. I would really just like to unintall both of them. Can someone PLEASE help me uninstall them???

Where has tweeks 1.1.1 OktoPrep

Hi Guys,

This is a weird one, but been going through the process quite a few times no probs at all, then last night I have been following the steps for 1.1.1 and got to this part

"# Open up Installer.app and install the "OktoPrep" package. "

Now I thought this was under the tweeks 1.1.1 folder? but now I can't find it, can anybody remind me please how to get to OktoPrep as currently I can't jail break the phone before upgrading to 1.1.2!

Many Thanks

Brad

Brad, Dont look for it in specific categories, just simply go to all packages and then scroll all the way down the the "O"s. Oktoprep should be there.

If you still can't find it in All Packages, you need to install Community Sources (if you haven't already).
