Here is a dilemma I am pondering.
I ordered the Green M1 iMac with 16gig/512 SSD and the full sized keyboard. Estimated delivery of 4/29-5/6.
However locally, the Apple Stores have the Blue 16 gig/1 TB SDD in stock that I could get now. Changing my color from Green to Blue I could live with I guess, but I really would prefer a full sized keyboard and not that mini one. For some reason, I just can't type good on those mini keyboards, but can type fine on the full size.
So either I wait for what I actually wanted, and hopefully it won't get pushed back more, or settle for a slightly different configuration and get it now.

Perhaps you could call your local store and do a deal with them if they have the keyboard that you want in stock.
Good Idea, however I doubt they would have the color matched full size keyboards there. I would guess they would only have the white or black keyed versions.
Well I ordered a Studio Max - BTO with 1TB SSD.... ordered on Mar 26, with est Deliver of May 17.
Today (Apr 12) I got TWO emails. first said new deliver on Apr 25, then another saying Apr 15.

I'd guess that they make and stock that model in US warehouses. It seems like such a natural model - 1 TB SSD as the machine is so capable.
My MacBook Pro 16 said Hong Kong for a while but it was actually in the United States. In the early days it took them a long time to update the location.
I was leaning more towards waiting for the Green one I ordered with the full keyboard, but then I see that article on the front page about other Macs being pushed back like a month.
Now I am thinking about just getting the blue one with the small keyboard. It has more storage, which I don't need though.

If you can get something *now* that would 100% work for you even if it's overkill, I'd pull the trigger. Sitting in limbo waiting on a built to order system is painful a.f. right now, imo... Sitting in limbo and not knowing is rough.. my two copper.
Yes I am starting to agree. Who knows when stuff will ship with all the lockdowns in China right now.
If it wasn't for that small keyboard though. I dunno, maybe I will get used to it.

You can in the standard colors. I am not sure if you can buy the color matched ones that come with the iMac though separately. As for the storage. On my PC, I have a 1 TB SSD in it, and am only using 90 gig. I don't think I broke 100 yet.
I am not usually an impatient person, but when it comes to getting new tech, I can be a little bit impatient.
On March 8 within a few hours of preorders opening ordered:

I ordered the Blue 16/1 TB SSD model on Wednesday and got it the next day. Loving it so far.

Things will likely be getting worse rather than better. 45 cities and 400 million people in China are now in total or partial lockdown. Shanghais' port, which handles some 20% of China's freight, is at a standstill. From CNN Business' (Apple News) report on Shanghai:
"90% of trucks supporting import/export deliveries are out of action."
"Quanta, the world's biggest contract notebook manufacturer and a MacBook maker, has stopped production entirely. The plant accounts for about 20% of Quanta's notebook production capacity,"
With all this stuff going on, I am glad that I was able to get an iMac delivered next day. I am really enjoying using it so far. It seems like the Blue and Silver models are ones they keep in stock with 16 gigs of RAM.
It is taking some getting used to the small keyboard. I am going to give it a good effort, but if I can't get used to it, I will have to see if I can get a color matched full sized keyboard. But I figured settling for the small keyboard for now is much better than waiting for who knows how long I would have had to wait if I kept my original order.

A color matched keyboard is not essential though......
You could get a regular colored full size keyboard.
It's essential to me.
The computer is Blue, the Mouse is Blue, the cables are Blue. So why would I want a keyboard which isn't Blue also.
My OCD couldn't handle that. Ha
Well, my 14in mbp max 10/32c 32gb 1tb went from 4/20-27 to 6/6-27… I broke down last night and ordered an in stock refurb mba 8/8c 16gb 1tb that was in stock shipped today delivers tomorrow. Dunno if I’ll keep the air, was just fed up with waiting. We’ll see.
So, I just treated my self for my birthday and ordered a maxed out 16 inch m1 max macbook pro on Saturday. Shipping for me is June. Is that accurate? Or is mine going to get delayed as well? Or is it going to depend on the lockdowns in shanghai?
