Just got a new update: my laptop has slipped to June 23-July 7. That’s note 2.5 months of post-order delays, on top of an original wait of over 2 months.

The lockdowns in China seem to be wrecking Apple’s supply chain.
Jeez. Starting to feel more and more confident in my decision to cancel my MBP (which was pushed back 8 weeks after an initial 7 week wait) and go to a retailer here to pick up a baseline Mac Studio. Would've loved a laptop but I spend most of my time at my desk anyway.

There was a short window where they had the 14s in the local stores and where ship dates were short and then all hell broke loose on ship dates. I think that you can still get the base studio in the store but a Studio is more than I need.

Does Apple honor trade-in amounts for these delayed orders?

Waiting on a MacBook Pro M1 Max 10,24,16 and 32gb ram. It was ordered Feb 6 and expected Apr 1-14. On Apr 5th pushed to May 3-10 with an email alert. Now pushed to Jun 14-28 without any alert.

A new model might release before we get our devices haha.

It's pretty much the reason why I didn't went with 32GB M1 Max on the 14"... These delays are killing me just picked up one of the base models with 1TB.

Maybe with M2 Pro I'll pick the 32GB.

When are the M2s expected to ship?
They haven't been announced and if they follow the M1, it won't be until Q4

Supply chain issues are causing havoc again and I wonder if that will delay the M2. I have a couple of local retailers that have M1 MBPs in stock. Given how things are progressing, this may force me to decide on buying not rather then waiting

The last two major Apple purchases I have made were the iPad mini 6 (in March) and the 14" MacBook Pro (3 weeks ago). I was not planning on splurging on the mini 6, but the only one available in all the Apple stores in my area was a fully loaded cellular starlight model, so I decided to just do it. I love it, but I don't think I would have picked the fully loaded model if there were other options available. I just kind of wanted one now so I bought the one they had.

A couple of weeks ago when I decided to upgrade my M1 MacBook Air to an M1 Pro MacBook Pro, it was kind of the same deal but opposite--the only model available anywhere near me was the base model, which is overkill for me anyway, so I bought the base model. I think if the higher storage models were more readily available that day, I would have stepped up the hard drive to 1 TB.

So yeah, both of those large purchases were partially decided by supply constraints even weeks ago. Now, it seems I would not have an easy time getting either of those items in any configuration in my area. Still not sure why so many people think it's a lie that the iPad is supply constrained right now.

My 16” M1 Max MBP just got bumped from May 9-20 delivery, to late June-early July. I ordered it at the end of February. The May delivery date had already been bumped from the initial date.

So in my case… 14” MBP max 24 core, 1 TB SSD and 64GB ram, ordered Feb 3rd - original delivery between 15-25 march then on the 15th delayed to 6-15 June. I have a few issues, I know the delays are unavoidable but Apple’s service behaviour is not. I called and enquired just before the first delivery window as I was suspicious that I had not been charged and the machine had not shipped and was assured that it was all happening..
Now the machine is further delayed on calling Apple a rep tried to assure me that the best thing to do is probably cancel the order and reorder the machine - This is insane advice- while it may have a shorter build time (it MIGHT) there is no way that a machine ordered today could come BEFORE my machine ordered on the 3rd of FEB????
Also an Apple REP I was talking to was discussing a “Goodwill Gesture” to be applied when the computer is delivered? (I would rather have more SSD applied to my machine that hasn’t even been built yet but apple says no) - is anyone else being told there will be a “Good will“ gesture??
So you think its the right thing to do to hang in there? In Australia there are no shops with stock or refurb models at this spec..
I could get a Razer blade but I imagine the shipping delays would also be mad (and hopefully my machine will arrive before it depreciates to 0$ value)

I don't post much, but my early April order for a 16" M1 Max with 64Gb and 2TB SSD has just been pushed back. It was originally this week, but is now 29th June to 12 July. What is a bit odd, but maybe no knowing Apple, is the status description changed from "We have everything necessary to complete your order......." to "We're preparing your order......" yesterday. It's now changed back a day later, so something must have happened.

Yet I read a post else where of someone getting their yesterday when they had a date of June ?‍♂️

If I speck the exact same machine, it says 5th July - 19th of July. Are Apple really suggesting that if I ordered it again, I could get it earlier ?‍♂️

If it is Covid, it can't be helped, but the dates Apple are giving make no sense.

I believe it is. Intel warned that they're facing chip shortages, the auto industry appears to be dealing with that again. I think there's a number of regions that were or are still in lock down in China which is affecting manufacturing.

Just spoke to Apple myself while the frustration was still in my mind, and they said to me as well that they would discuss gestures of goodwill after the machine is delivered. Apparently I just need to call after it's delivered. I wonder how many Apple reps will forget saying that when deliveries start to happen!

To be fair, it's not the fault of the reps though. They are just covering for Apple's optimistic dates when they know the warehouse has issues.

I ordered a 16” M1 Max 32 Cores 32GB 1TB on the 16th of December 2021 from a reseller in Spain, still waiting (almost 5 months), they haven't got a clue on the status of my order. The reseller says that Apple won't tell them any info. This is very embarrassing, shame on Apple, my current 2015 MacBook Pro is on the verge of dying and I need a proper Mac for business.

Well there’s a surprise! After the mega-delay in my last post I’d basically given up hope of getting my MBP any time soon, especially after continually seeing the Shanghai lockdown news both on MacRumors and mainstream news …

… but then I checked email this morning and, with no warning, got a shipping notification! My custom built MBP is now scheduled to be delivered on May 20th, over a month ahead of schedule (though obviously more than a month behind the original schedule).

Anyway, with as resigned as I’d gotten about a late shipment, I’ll take it!

I too just received a shipping confirmation for an MBP 14 that had slipped to June 22 delivery date after being ordered in early March.

im really tempted to just get one from Microcenter instead of waiting for the M2 to get a 14in. I feel like I may be waiting till Nov/Dec or even 2023 at this rate.

Curiously, in the US you can get a BTO M1 Mini (which is presumably also assembled in Asia), of any configuration, with essentially no delay whatsoever. It seems the assembly and shipping issues would still apply--unless they have such a variety of stock in the US that even BTO configs can be suppled domestically.

I cancelled my 16” M1 Max 32gb/2tb order, which had been pushed from March to May to a June/July, and instead picked up a 4tb version in store.

Now if I could just figure out why my in-app screenshots are randomly of my desktop wallpaper, and why Photoshop stops being able to “save as” without a reboot...
