The last two major Apple purchases I have made were the iPad mini 6 (in March) and the 14" MacBook Pro (3 weeks ago). I was not planning on splurging on the mini 6, but the only one available in all the Apple stores in my area was a fully loaded cellular starlight model, so I decided to just do it. I love it, but I don't think I would have picked the fully loaded model if there were other options available. I just kind of wanted one now so I bought the one they had.
A couple of weeks ago when I decided to upgrade my M1 MacBook Air to an M1 Pro MacBook Pro, it was kind of the same deal but opposite--the only model available anywhere near me was the base model, which is overkill for me anyway, so I bought the base model. I think if the higher storage models were more readily available that day, I would have stepped up the hard drive to 1 TB.
So yeah, both of those large purchases were partially decided by supply constraints even weeks ago. Now, it seems I would not have an easy time getting either of those items in any configuration in my area. Still not sure why so many people think it's a lie that the iPad is supply constrained right now.
