Geez, with all the problems the UP2414Q has had, I'm not sure I really want to buy a lower-end model. The first reviews and forum threads will be crucial.

Fair enough, but I think most of us are looking at this like the technology is now 2nd gen and going mainstream which bodes well. We'll see.

Yes what VRain said; the idea is that we are now getting the "new and improved" version with the kinks worked out. Fingers crossed!

Not to say these might also not be duds. I've purchase and returned 3 different 4K monitors (UP2414Q, U28D590D, LG 31MU97) so far, each had either a compatibility issue or a display quality issue. Dell has an extended holiday return policy that makes it less risky, but if you're in doubt, wait till the first batch of these end up in people hands in a week or two and there should be a bunch of comments, positive or negative on the forums.

My expectation is we see similar quality to the other 4K IPS Dell monitors without the issues from their first generation MST design.

One word of caution - if you're someone who frequently switches between boot drives by holding down the option key - 4K SST monitors currently interfere with this because they don't light up until the login screen. If you can't live with losing this feature, don't buy any 4K SST monitor until this is fixed.

I just ordered the 2415q. I had a A02 2414q but returned it due to the issues reported here (although I only saw it twice). We'll see what happens... Estimated delivery, December 12th.

wait is this a hardware issue or software.

The boot display problem is software, but it's a problem in the EFI firmware, which doesn't get updates that often (one to two times a year).

I'm about to take delivery of a retina iMac and am looking for a second monitor with a wide colour gamut and good accuracy for checking files for print as I'm a graphic designer.

Would one of these be a good option? If not could someone please point me in a better direction? budget around $1000. I know very little about non-apple stuff.

That being said I've sent files to print for over 10 years which I've processed on apple displays (mainly 23" cinema displays) and never had a problem..but if I can improve accuracy for a reasonable cost I'd like to.

Don't mind paying a little more for something stylish if it exists...

thanks.

i don't think anyone can recommend this monitor as of yet since most of us has taken delivery. but most 4k coming out now are ips based, so i guess just find the one with the cheapest price?

Speaking of which, has anyone gotten a ship notification yet? These should start going out soon.

i ordered the p2715q on 11/19 and it is showing a 12/10 delivery date - no ship creation notice - just Dell's estimate

I ordered a P2715Q on 11/14 and it still listed as "In Production" with an estimated delivery date of 12/5.

The user manual said about MST:

“Off”: Default mode - 4k2k 60Hz with MST function Disabled.

“Primary”: Set as primary mode at 4K2K 30Hz with MST (DP
out) enabled.

“Secondary”: Set as secondary mode at 4K2K 30Hz with MST (DP out) disabled.

Ordered one P2415Q on 11/15 at 22:07 PST. Original delivery date of 12/5.

Just received the "order delayed" email today with a new delivery date of 12/17, just like you guys.

I just ordered the Dell P2715Q with a 5YR Advanced Warranty for $546/shipped. I was debating between the 24 or 27 but decided to start with the bigger screen. The expected ship date is 12-9-14.

I believe there were 2 stackable coupons back in November that brought it down to that price. Right now there is only a 10% off coupon running which should bring it down to $629.

right, but I guess I was reading into his use of "just ordered," which suggested there was a way to get that price now.

In any case, where do I find the 10% off coupon code?
