IMHO, I'd really suggest that going to 4K for more screen real estate is a bad idea unless you're going to a monitor that is at least 32". Unless you have exceptional eyesight (as in the kind of eyesight no one has), unscaled usage of a 4K monitor is really not something that works well in practice for any stretch of time, especially for text intensive activities like programming. I've tried out 3 different 4K monitors for this purpose and the best results for font legibility were at 1.5X or 2X scale. My suggestion would be that if you're not looking to run scaled, there are lots of awesome large IPS monitors that you can get at half the price of a 4K monitor.

I've tried all kinds of scaled resolutions on both my rMBP and a 5K iMac in store, and all were imperceptibly as sharp as 1.5x or 2x at least for short term use. So I guess it depends on your visual acuity and level of scaling selected as to whether scaling is for you or not.

I'm expecting to run my 4K 27" displays somewhere between 2560x1440 (1.5x) and 3200x1800 (1.2x). I'll try various scaling settings over time to see what works. Maybe 1.5x will be my long term choice... I guess I'll find out.

Hi,

I received mine one week ago (I'm from France). And good news, it works with the Macbooko Pro.

I tried several 4K monitors before, like the Samsung 28'' and the ASUS 28'', but they had problems (flickering etc...)

But the p2715q just works so fine!

At first, I noticed a yellowish tint especially on white, but choosing a custom color setup (86 88 98) in OSD made it really great.

I'm using it at 2560x1440 witch is the most long term usable resolution to me.

I think its a great monitor. :)

Any chance you could post some photos of the monitor in use? Like multiple applications open, etc..

Where did you get it? Dell.fr mentions 12/10 as the earliest shipping date for both screens.

Sure!

Sorry my phone takes ugly pictures...

Thanks for the pictures but isn't Dell a US company? I really don't get why they would ship to Europe first. I've tried ordering one once again from the Europe website and the shipping date was the same.

Totally agree, it's a bit strange! Maybe I've been really lucky.

Thank you for the Pics,

It looks like 25xx mode is making the text very sharp while giving you the same screen real estate as a regular 27" LCD... would you agree?

Sure!

Great pics! Thank you!

Can you outline the steps required to connect the display? Did you have to set the monitor to multi-stream transfer as described in Apple's support page, or does it work with single stream and still allow 60 Hz refresh?

Any chance either of these monitors offer a Picture-By-Picture mode? I looked at the manual and didn't see it mentioned. Holding out hope!

Btw, what editor for css are you using? Looks like brackets
It's Sublime Text

I agree, you've got the same space but with the retina thing. I'm not sure it is as sharp as the MBP screen but it's really nice. :)

Unboxed and plugged the mini-dp->dp cable that's all. It works at 60Hz :)

Excellent. What a difference 6 months makes in the world of 4k monitors!

@mosher: if you're from Germany you might try ordering the Dell an mediafrost online shop. It is a registered Dell Partner and it has the p2715q and p2415q in stock.
I am also thinking about ordering the 27" display

mediafrost.de is currently the only Shop which offers the two Dell in Germany. 2-3 days delivery time

How did you find out? Do you know if it's available in Switzerland?

Anyone using retina 13" MacBook Pro with this new dell?

Will only do 4k @ 30Hz (limitation of Iris graphics) Specs https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs-retina/ , I did see in the Dell manual ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-prod...ay/dell-p2415q-monitor_User's Guide_en-us.pdf that it does a 1:1 pixel mapping so still should be able to do HiDPI @ 60Hz ( maybe 2560x1600 => 1280x800 Retina "best for display" or some other variant ) via SwitchResX with black borders.

Looks very nice!

I'd love to know if two can run off my nMP with d700s, plus a 1080 hdmi out.

I can't believe you held out for a week before telling us! :p

Looking good. How's the anti-glare coating? Is it obnoxious?

You can run three 4K monitors on a nMP (regardless of GPU)... two at 60Hz and one via HDMI at 30Hz. So what you want to do is also possible.

How did you find out? Do you know if it's available in Switzerland?

I simply used a comparison shopping site like geizhals. mediafrost also delivers to switzerland I guess, but I don't know if it is wothwhile with customs etc.

It's very good in my opinion :)

Thanks, but can you say anything further? How does it compare to Apple's displays? Does it do a good job of eliminating reflections on the screen without being too noticable or making the screen appear sparkly?

One of my biggest concerns with past Dell monitors I've owned is that their anti-glare coating made it appear like someone stretched a ladies stocking (pantyhose) over the glass. It was horribly distracting.

I don't have much experiences in monitors.
I owned the Thunderbolt Display but could not stand glares despite of the great IPS display.
Compared to other anti-glare screens I can't tell the difference. It just looks good and has no sparkling.
