Hey everyone,

I created a demo that triggers the issue: http://www.kaansoral.com/images/pixel/index.html
(Have to be tested on Chrome, "image-rendering: pixelated" triggers it)

For me, with P2415Q, the issue occurs both on OSX and a different windows computer, one with GT750M, the other with GTX980, (one with DP, the other with mDP), when the issue happens, it's not just in the browser, when you put an image outside the browser, you can see the image get discoloured too (like an image on the Preview app)

The issue: The screen is teared into columns, one column is brighter, one column is paler, there's like a 2-5% contrast difference, and around 8 columns

I've tested the same demo on another computer with Dell U2413, can't see the columns there
On the Macbook Pro Monitor, which the P2415Q is connected, can't see the columns
When I set my P2415Q's Sharpness to 60, can't see the columns

Sadly, I won't receive the replacement P2415Q for some time, so I don't know whether this issue is a defect, or rather a chronic P2415Q issue, or something else

I will be glad if you can test my demo and see whether you can see the issue

I've been having some trouble with my monitor recently, a P2415Q model, and I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on my issues. First issue, when the monitor is in standby mode and I get an iMessage or something on my phone, the monitor turns on and displays the notification, is there any way to disable this? Second issue, sometimes when I try to wake up my rMBP with dedicated graphics, the Dell monitor will turn on, but the screen will be distorted and the only fix is to force the macbook to shut down and do a restart.

If anyone else is having these issues and has figured out a way to fix them, I would appreciate it!

I hate to self promote, but I am also looking high and low for help on my issue:

Wifi drops completely when either usb or miniDP ports are used.

Help. Please!

Any ideas?

It is like on and off quite literally: Plugged in to anything = 0 wifi speed, the minute I unplug it = full speed instantaneous web page loading.

I have had this monitor for over a year now and am still absolutely loving it, although I barely use it anymore since I can't use it AND the internet concurrently!

Sounds a bit like this issue: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us...al-bus/usb3-frequency-interference-paper.html - it's a nice paper too, I would speculate the monitor is just going crazy with EM

------

On my issue, I received a replacement monitor, this time with Rev03, which is just great on paper, yet in practice, same issue continues, the worst part of it is, I'm 99% sure now that this is a chronic issue with P2415Q, I couldn't make anyone else reproduce the issue, and couldn't find anyone with a P2415Q to test the issue, the thread seems to be dead

Here is the example that triggers the issue: http://www.kaansoral.com/images/pixel2/index.html

Does anyone who has one of these monitors connected to official Apple cards or flashed cards have their keyboard plugged into the monitors USB and able to sent boot keystrokes?

On a non flashed card I find I dont have keyboard input till the OS is already booted.

I have also discovered the issue that forces you to physically unplug the power to the monitor to get signal back only appears to happen to me when using certain color profiles, like game. I am wonder if it is something like dynamic contrast that is causing it. If I set mine to game and just reboot, I have to pull the power cable each time.

Edit: I discovered the problem has nothing to do with the card (now that I have a flashed card) it was because I had the monitor (and keyboard which is plugged into the monitor) connected to an Innatek USB 3.0 card...

How did you manage to get a Rev 3????? Even executive support has told me to go **** myself when I asked for a Rev 03 instead of Rev 02... But at least it sounds like Rev 03 isn't the "cure" I thought it was.

Are you affected by the same issue I described? - The flickering? I would really love some more info, so we can get the issue recognized: http://www.kaansoral.com/images/pixel2/index.html

So I sent them a video with flickering, they sent a replacement, usually the replacements they send are the latest versions, I had a defunct U2413, they sent a newer version for example, however they never comment on revisions - Advice: Don't seek Rev A03, it has some minor OSX issues, it doesn't go to sleep, turns the display off/on sometimes when you connect, and it turns pink/purple when you are switching from mDP to DP etc.

At this point I'm just waiting for Apple to come out with a new monitor, and hoping I can work on that monitor with sun around, Dell/IPS monitors seem to be only good if you are looking at still pictures, or the screen is too chaotic that you can't notice the issues - I also suspect this might be in play: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_tearing - maybe from cables, but it seems almost impossible - as I have 2 systems and 2 cables, both cables are the top rated ones on Amazon

I'm planning on ordering a P2715Q today after endlessly debating over getting a 34" ultrawide. I know B&H is a big seller and more than likely authorized, but do I complicate warranty issues by not buying from Dell?

Ah no, just the sleep/wake issue that affects, from my understanding, anything prior to Rev A03 for the P2415Q. They just send me refurbs with dead/stuck pixels and Mura spots that still have the sleep/wake issues. So I kept the least-****** refurb after running their bill with FedEx up (4 refurbs sent via 2-day and returned with prepaid labels). I have some S2415H monitors that are nothing short of awesome, but 4K seems to be hard for them, and others (I think ASUS 4Ks have issues as well?)

I also researched an alternative, for the time being, P2415Q is the best, when you dig deep into Amazon reviews, most of the other monitors have worse issues - I recently checked a BENQ monitor for example, a 1-star review complained of similar flickering

The main source of s*tiness is the sub-par font rendering of OSX on non-retina that dooms me, I can't just go for any other monitor now, it has to be 4K/retina - If Samsung/Asus releases a new series of 4K's, I might test them too, but they will highly likely be worse, so I'm just waiting for Apple's new solution

I was wondering what those white spots were, my previous A01 had some bothered me from time to time, while the A01 didn't have sleep/wake issues, the A03 has them, yet the A03 doesn't have these small white spots, so I didn't even complain or re-open the issue, I'm just waiting things out for now - It might be the best course of action for you too

Can you test this for me please: http://www.kaansoral.com/images/pixel2/index.html - do you really not see the vertical flickering columns? - If that is the case, I will start looking for alternative cables to test. I move the browser window to the Macbook's Retina screen, it's just perfect, but the external P2415Q is a headache

I just checked that link on my 2415Q.. I don't see any vertical flickering columns.

For what it's worth ... I checked that link on my P2715Q @60Hz and at full screen and see no vertical flickering (I assume the pixel pattern is supposed to step to the left).

I have a mid-2015 rMBP (this guy: http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...l-graphics-mid-2015-retina-display-specs.html).

I'm looking to purchase:
I'm basing the cables off of recommendations from @campyguy in this thread. He seems to have had great success with them.

So, all I should have to do is plug everything in (one mDP->DP cable from rMBP to monitor 1, one mDP->DP cable from rMBP to monitor 2) and I'm good to go?

While I appreciate the simplicity of this solution, I'd really love to find a way to do things a bit more cleanly whereby I don't have to plug/unplug cables as I come and go from my home office. Is there anyone out there who's found an acceptable docking solution such that one can get full 3840 x 2160 res on both P2415Q's using only DP and not having to resort to lower res via HDMI for one of the monitors?

I've taken a look at both Landing Zone and Henge. The former seems a little flimsy, and I'm not sure it can do what I want (both monitors at full res via DP). The latter (whether considering the horizontal or vertical option) is wayyy overpriced, and again, I'm not sure it can do what i want (both monitors at full res via DP).

I'm looking for a way to just drop my rMBP into the dock and have it all "just work" with no fuss, no muss. Is that a pipe dream?

The P2415Q comes with a mini-DP to DP cable, so try those before ordering the Accell cables.

I don't think you can avoid using the 2 mini-DP outputs on the rMBP. The ports are DP 1.2 and 4K 60Hz is the max they support, so no daisy-chaining possible with dual 4K.

I can see the flickering on my REV A01 P2415Q, on a rMBP 2014 with the integrated Intel graphic card, at 1080p HiDpi.

I still love this monitor since 1 year I purchase it. No issue with it except the occasional (maybe once per week) one where it will not wake up from sleep, usually fixed by either powering the on/off button, reconnecting the thunderbolt cable, or replugging the power cable.

Thanks for all the reports on flickering/non-flickering

It seems most people don't see the flickering, I would make up and say only 20% has the flickering issue

I've tested all the mDP/DP cables I have, including the default one for the P2415Q - the flickering is always there, I'm going to order and test the Accell cable at one point, which is the only cable I can find that is DP 1.2 certified. Really regretting sending the cable of the replacement P2415Q back, If I knew the issue could be caused by the cables, I would take the cable

By the way, If I remember correctly, I had a Rev A01, it worked great with OSX, the replacement Rev A03 doesn't go to sleep, so I made the habit of closing the monitor before I go to sleep - and when it's first connected to OSX, it black screens once for 1 seconds, so, try to aim for Rev A01 for OSX, assuming revisions behave persistently

I'm connecting to the screen with mDP-mDP and DP-DP, I have 2 computers, so even if the Accell cable works, I need to re-visit my connection significantly, at this point, I'm working around the issue, and hoping Apple comes up with a worthy replacement for P2415Q

I use the henge vertical dock every single day. Probably one of the best purchases I have ever made.

Also, my issue with poor wifi upon connection of anything to usb or thunderbolt has been resolved: I needed to be on 5GHz and everything works fine now.

I've been enjoying my new (well, used) p2415q for the past week but suddenly noticed this:

IMG_1883.0s1n0c1A0a00.JPG

It's like there's dust beneath the overlay.

I'm not surprised that the damage is there because the box it came in was nearly destroyed, but I am surprised I just noticed it now (I thought I had given the LCD a careful review), and it's possible it did not come like this.

It doesn't matter that much because Amazon is excellent with returns, but has this happened to anyone else? I'm afraid of it happening again.

Get it replaced ASAP before the Amazon warranty runs out, Dell will replace it but they'll give you a refurbished one.

Had to let my 27" go and will switch tomorrow for the smaller brother P2415Q. Hope its equally as crisp! :)

Amazon replacement just came today, and it is flawless. Also used, but this one is indistinguishable from new. Hoping it stays that way!

Now to celebrate by grading 62 papers on it! :D

Edit: So, I spoke too soon. there are some faint lines in the middle of the screen, almost like pinstripes. I still have my previous monitor and there are no such lines there.

I suppose Amazon Warehouse deals have been returned for a reason. Just going to spend the extra $50 and buy it new.

Just got mine today. Not from Amazon tho. Took me a while to get it going with the No Display Port connected error.
Now it's running and the color calibration seems a bit off. White is not the same white as on my rMBP and I am running the screen at the highest full 4k res.
