If that only accepted two-lane DP 1.4 HBR2 it wouldn’t help though.
I do not know what the LG monitor has, but it works; I connect via a TB2 port on my Mac Pro, through an Apple TB2/TB3 adapter, to the LG TB3 port. I have 4K at 60Hz on the LG monitor, and the USB hub on the LG works fine.

If you're getting 4K60, then it's four-lane DisplayPort 1.2 at HBR2 link rate.

after read all this nightmare, that's why I'm tempted to buy the studio display, I don't say the studio display is perfect but... I don't have time to dealing with all that "issues" reported here and is the same thing with others LG and many others brands/models.
I am afraid you will have to deal with some issues even with the Studio Display, eg. USB ports on the monitor are not working fluelessly either. And add some new like choosing the right stand.

I have 2 macbooks - 1 personal and 1 work. I am looking for a KVM monitor with 2 USB-C both supporting a PowerDelivery. That way, I can have a monitor and just 2 usb-c cabled going to 2 macbooks. With KVM I can easily switch keyboard and mouse. Is this something this monitor can do, or does it only have 1 USB-C PowerDelivery?

I don't know about any monitor or hub with 2 full input lanes. Usually there is one main input (up to 100 W) and the others as output only (and with 20 W max). It would be very hard to satisfy your needs.

Yea I suppose, I have not find any.. I will wait for the rtings.com review of this Dell and then probably buy it anyway. It will be a nice replacement for the 1st gen. ThinkVision usb-c monitor.

Do you know of any other solution that might solve my "2 macbooks 1 monitor" problem?

I think you can do it with one USB-C monitor (with additional HDMI or DP port) and one USB-C hub. Macbook 1 I would plug directly to the monitor with USB-C (with charging), Macbook 2 I would plug and charge from the hub, which would be connected to the monitor through HDMI or DP. Then I could swich the monitor input from USB-C (Macbook 1) to HDMI/DP (Macbook 2).

But easier is just to unplug the one USB-C cable from Macbook 1 and plug it into Macbook 2, isn´t it?

Switching cable does not switch the keyboard and mouse, like built-in monitor KVM does.

Do you mean HDMI or DP also supports PD? This is unclear to me. Does this Dell monitor support PD from port other than that usb-c port?

Switching the input cable (USB-C or Thunderbolt) would switch the keyboard and mouse if they were connected to the monitor's hub. It switches everything – PD, video signal and all USBs.

And no, HDMI or DP don't have PD. I meant using HDMI or DP only for video signal from the second computer (through hub). PD for the computer would be done through the hub's USB-C port. But this is not working for USB peripherals.

I just bought 2 u2723qe Dell displays for $620 each from dell.com. They're pretty nice.
I have them connected to my MB Pro 14 base model. No problems so far.
Nice color, good contrast.
I wish I could control the brightness from my keyboard. It only adjusts the MB Pro's brightness.

Does anyone know if there is a way to set some control so the brightness of the 2 displays works with the brightness from the laptop display when adjusting it from the keyboard?

I use the App MonitorControl (free) with an external 4K monitor. It should also work with 2 monitors. You can adjust the brightness in 2 ways:

1. With the mouse from the MonitorControl menu bar
2. The keyboard brightness control will control the active monitor.

Made an account just because of this thread so thanks to everyone who has helped.

I order 2 Dell UP2723QE on March 16th and received them March 29th three days ahead of the original estimate. Unfortunately I received rev A00 and both were manufactured Dec 2021. I’m going to do some of the testing in this thread and see if I want to exchange them.

I have a personal 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max with Monterey, and a 2017 MacBook Pro with Big Sur for work. I'll be using the monitors with both.

First opinion so far after using them for half a day for work, is that I am perfectly ok with native resolution and it isn't blurry for me. I'm coming from a single Dell P2419H which is 1080 so this is a big upgrade. I'm a programmer so my biggest reason for buying is the higher resolution to see more on the screen.

You mean you're ok with default scaling, which is, I guess, "looks like 2560x1440"?

I'm doing "scaled" -> "More Space" which says 3840 x 2160. I opened the MacBook (which I also use "More Space" on) side by side using MacRumors in Safari as a test and I went to max zoom in the browser and that still wasn't enough. The additional zoom I get out of pinching the trackpad is the only time it is noticeable. I have 20/20 vision and I measured leaning back in my chair. It's 18 inches from my face to the screen. I have to really force myself to notice any blur in that scenario. I can read all text in any app or site without squinting or feeling like it's too small. Any "test" that you're aware of that might help emphasize it?

Caveat, I'm not a "display" person. 120hz, true HDR, local dimming, mini-led, etc. on any device phone, tablet, monitor, tv, are not must haves for me. There are plenty of people who need some of those for their professional work and others who just say they need all of that for future-proofing or whatever their reasons might be. For me I think the fact I can "see the blur" if I force myself to look for it, makes me feel good about my purchase and not paying 2x for a 5k display. The way macOS scaling gets described on the internet makes it sound a lot worse than it is (at least for 4k 27"). Also this website says retina happens at 3840 x 2160 27" at 21 inches away from the screen http://tools.rodrigopolo.com/display_calc/. I might try that distance now, I have a deep enough desk and I'm able to read very small print at about 28" away from the screen. But even if I sit 1" from the screen it looks good.

I have a MacBook Pro 16 M1Max (for work, mainly office and coding. Only an amateur photograph)
On impulse i pre-ordered the Studio Display, but after a nights sleep i cancelled my order. (The price tag did not meet my expectations. ROI too low)
Now i have the option of
Huawei MateView 28 for 505€ and delivery date within 3 days
or the Dell U2723QE for 650€, however delivery date 2.June (!!!)
So i am torn between the two, but leaning to the Mateview.

In my humble opinion, the MateView wins because of its aspect ratio alone, which provides 18.5% more vertical real estate than a 16:9 “4K” monitor. ;)

I would have ordered the U2723QE if there were no such problems with backlight bleeding.
The MateView seems to have problems with uneven illumination believing to some reviews.
I now opted for the brand new Dell P2723QE that is about 200€ cheaper for me than the U2723QE (~470€).
Planned delivery is at the end of April. Hopefully quality will be ok. Otherwise i will have a look at other producers.

Hmm, thought so too. Quick question about the MateView: 4k/60Hz over DP possible?

Sure thing. The HDMI 2.0 port is limited to 50 Hz (OOTB). If you use the USB-C input, the downstream USB ports run at USB 2.0 speeds.

Great, thanks. I was looking for this combination MacbookPro -> USB-C -> Caldigit TS4 -> DisplayPort -> MateView or Dell.
And I wanted to make sure the MateView runs on 4k/60Hz. Because I wasn't sure if DP1.2 can do that.
The Dell display as well as the CalDigit dock do support DP1.4, so no issue there.
