I played the open beta with the Mac in my signature. NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB graphics card in it. On "Low FX" it ran perfectly. Even during the big battles.

Encouraging to see that English will still be a spoken language in the future. But tell me, was that time-travel device bi-directional, or are you stuck in 2012 with the rest of us?

Hehe, that is more or less the reply I was going to write as well. Besides that, though, even the solutions that exist today for internet-on-the-go, most of them are not qualified for playing D3, as the game requires constant, stable connection with low latency times (low ping). Just like World of Warcraft.

neh, actually not bad.

I only notice a little lag if I am surrounded by like 20 guys and I start casting all my skills/spells.

Sure if there are huge fights and stuff it may hit a ridiculously low FPS ... have not got that far in the game yet though.

running around the world and killing a few enemies at a time is lag free ... at least for me.

Hit Low FX and report back.

ooooh, yes I missed that option.

I cant check the FPS anymore. Blizzard shut down all beta accounts May 1st

I know, but will be nice for you if it make a difference.

If I can I will make a video comparison on different setting on the MBA and I'll post it back here for you guys to see. If I can really bother I will do both MBA 2010(320M) and 2011(HD3000).

Will mine run it?

I meet all the other specs but I'm not sure about my graphics card. I have a 2008 macbook with a graphics card:
Intel GMA X3100 144 MB

If it can't work how much should I expect to spend to get a card that will?

Your graphics card isn't supported by the game as far as I'm aware.

Unfortunately there is no way to upgrade the graphics card in a MacBook.

So you're saying I can't play diablo 3? I don't know how I can cope with that.

GMA are old Intel integrated graphics, and they are quite bad, especially for gaming. I'm sorry, hope you have a chance to upgrade. And if you plan to, go for a Macbook Pro 15"/iMac if you want to be sure you want to play Diablo, or at least wait for the newer Macs with at least HD4000 which will be better than the current HD3000.

No, not unless you upgrade to a newer Mac. I'm just glad my 2011 Mac Mini can run it fairly decently. I just wish Apple made a Mac with the same specs as the iMac but without the built in display. I may have to resort to getting an iMac at some point as the Mini really isn't that good for gaming even with its dedicated 256MB GPU. These days you really need 1GB or preferably 2GB of VRAM on the GPU.

2GB of VRAM is useless on the iMac, the 6970M GPU is too slow to take advantage of the extra RAM.

I was talking in general terms for both Mac and PC. That said if I was a regular gamer I would still get a graphics card with as much VRAM as possible.

I played the beta on my 2009 MBP (9400M and 1280x800 res). Even with everything on low, I wasn't terribly impressed with the performance. I only played for 5 minutes or so before switching to a different computer, but I can't imagine it gets better as you progress into more complex areas. I'm accustomed to gaming on a gaming PC/Mac Pro, so decide for yourself if the performance is acceptable.

I'm going to purchase Diablo 3. Because the Mac Performence will get improved at Launch and if you check the ''Low FX'' box it should run pretty good. So i'm going to buy Diablo 3 at Launch

I played the beta on a Mid 2009 13" Mbp, 9400 8GB RAM and 2.26 core2Duo processor. Ran like ****. Had to play 800x600 windowed for it to be playable at all, with all settings on low (incl low FX)

I seriously do not recommend my mbp version if one wants to enjoy their D3 experience. But my "new" 15" early 11 highend with 6750 1GB arrived today, so smooth sailing from now on. :p

Then again, it was beta.
Blizzard has stated that they will improve the performance.
And the 9400m should support Low on Launch with no real problems. Especially not any problems with Low FX on.

I hope you are right for your sake, if not, I suppose you can just start saving up for a new bette Mbp. :)

That would be amazing to have a fast highend Mbp, it would really be amazing.
Now i own a Mid 2009 iMac.
How much did you pay for your MBP that you just got?

Im swedish, and unfortunately we dont get the kinda rebates americans get. But I got it for less than the current low end costs.
The standard price for it when it came out was 19995:- in my currency, and the current low end is 16495:- and I payed 16195:- for it. I lose out on Lion, but I gain more VRAM and a bigger HDD, I also, if I recall correctly get a slightly better processor, I recall having read that it had better turbo-speed performance. :)

The reason I caved in is mostly due to the release of D3, I really wanted to be able to play it nicely on its arrival since my wife is really keen too. When I found a computer as good as the current one with 1GB VRAM I decided Im fine with that.

Great! Youre a swedish? Im swedish as well!

Riktigt bra. Ganska mycket pengar dock för mig just nu :(
Men inom ett år kanske det blir en ny mac!

Yep its a fair deal of money Ive been saving for a few months. But I think Ill be pleased with this computer. Especially if they are even smoothing up the performance more as you said.

EDIT: I would definitely recommend getting more RAM, I find that games often eats up 4GB quite easy and I noticed a remarkable difference when I got 8GB for my old 2009... I havent even opened my new laptop yet but have already ordered 8GB from Dustin in sweden. Actually, what memory does your iMac use? I have 2x1GB 1066MHz lying around... :) and the iMac has 4 slots instead of two,no?
