Apparently you did see the need for a larger phone that's why you got an htc one. Anything from 4.7 to 5" is perfect. Anything less than 6" to 5.5 is great for blind people like me. Anything over 6" is a tablet in my opinion. Anything under 4.7 is a joke and a 4" iphone is just comedy.

Agree 100%

I don't care how good the Note 3 gets. I'll never own it or use it.

It's ridiculously oversized. I wouldn't want it in a pocket and I'd never want to make a call on it.

It's one of the stupidest samsung product lines, in my opinion.

That's why it's good to have a choice...you don't like it but plenty of others will and buy it.

I love how you're trying to convince this guy to switch over to a bigger phone when he's perfectly content with his HTC One.

This is Macrumors. Stop trying to sell your note 3 Samsung employee.

Are there other watches you can tether to your phone to make wireless call using it ? I may be wrong, but I believe the other SMART watches only show emails and who's calling (caller ID), etc.

An idiotic use of a smartwatch......

Read this to get an idea of a truly INNOVATIVE smart watch:

https://www.macrumors.com/2013/02/0...erface-developer-speculates-on-future-iwatch/

The Gear is proof Samsung knows they can't compete with Apple head-to-head. So they resort to releasing a laggy notification center in a watch that only lasts a day on battery. Oh ya, it's got a camera and you can make calls on it.....seriously?

Apple's implementation (hopefully) won't be so boring and ill-thought out. Samsung knew this and basically simply had to be first. That's all they figure they can have at this point.

As for the Note 3, it looks like an impressive phablet. I still question the overall niche-ness of the phablet class (The Note 1 was 5.0, now the GS4 is 5.0, so what constitutes a phablet these days? And I believe the Note series as a whole has only sold roughly 50 million units over the last two years - hardly groundbreaking), but for those who like em it looks like a great update.

Though I still wonder why these spec bumps are innovation when Samsung does them, but boring when Apple does it. Also, why are software features considered part of the upgrade (the multitasking window this is SOFTWARE) while people completely ignore iOS 7 and all the upgrades it will bring when discussing the iPhone 5S......all they say is "fingerprint sensors and gold iPhones".....

Anyways - in short:

(1) Samsung released the Gear TODAY in its current state because they know APPLE would hand SAMSUNG its hat if they went toe-to-toe with first gen products at the same time.

(2) The Note 3 looks like a great device for fans of the phablet market and is yet another signal that the Smartphone industry is maturing and updates will start becoming smaller and smaller.

I agree with one thing, i'm pretty sure Apple could go to 4.3 or 4.5" screen with the same phone size...

I think they go to 4.7" with a slightly larger overall footprint.

Just so happens that doubling the current iPhone resolution (1136x640*2 = 2272x1280) would fit into a 16:9 4.7" display with roughly the same PPI as the current HTC One and GS4 (about 440 ppi)....

My prediction anyway - coming 2014, but not replacing the current 4" offerings.

LOL. Right? I wonder how many apple employees come on here and try to boost apple up. Wonder how many posts Jobs made on MacRumors disguised as someone else. You know it happens.

Ironic seeing as its a known fact Samsung pays shills to spam message boards trashing competition.

Interesting and good ideas. To me it seems that right now we are in the era where smart watches are in general just really big, ugly and a bit ambiguous in features - not unlike pre-iPhone smartphones. As more powerful SoCs can be crammed in smaller space we will hopefully eventually have smart watches that approach the elegance of traditional watches either by imitating them or by going into a more futuristic direction - and that definitely means abandoning that 1990s Casio look. I imagine voice control will be an important component for them too as right now it works surprisingly well for many things.

As for the Note 3, it looks like an impressive phablet. I still question the overall niche-ness of the phablet class (The Note 1 was 5.0, now the GS4 is 5.0, so what constitutes a phablet these days? You have to remember that display size is not everything. Physical dimensions and display aspect ratio matter as well. Note 1 was over a centimeter wider than the GS4, Note 2 as well. Don't know physical dimensions of Note 3 but it seems to cram more display, less bezel just like the GS4 does, making for a device that is not perhaps physically as unwieldy as its predecessors. Personally I'm fine with the size of my GS4 after getting used to it, but would not take anything larger.

Samsung really doesn't seem to know what sizes to settle on because they now offer so many for both smartphones and tablets. I guess it's not that difficult to pump roughly the same components but different displays and batteries in various devices and try for market saturation.

I love it, people moan constantly about apple's tick rock update schedule, yet the internet is abuzz about how "innovative" this textbook example of a spec update from Samsung is.

Lighter, thinner, smaller, with a larger full HD screen, larger battery, upgraded cameras. Not to mention the usual replaceable battery and option for expandable external storage.

Based on rumors so far, what exactly is going to be impressive about the next gen iPhone which the internet will also be abuzz about next week?

I actually don't think the Gear watch looks that bad. It's nicer than I thought it'd ever be coming from Samsung.

But, I have zero interest in it regardless. And if it's really going to be priced at $299...

That's a fake leather back, with the word "Samsung" on it....completely different. ;)

LMAO, isn't it hilarious and ironic the hypocrisy we see from Samsung fanboys?

Please, Apple fanboys were screaming and crying when Apple released a 4 inch iPhone because it was a "phablet" and 3.5 was the perfect size.

Talk about hypocrisy with your comment.

While there are some Samsung fanboys (as there are any fanboys), I also agree, nothing holds a candle to the hypocrisy that is not only Apple's fanboys, but Apple themselves.

Samsung fanboys being equally vociferous and hypocritical as Apple fanboys is a narrative that Jrsz wishes he could make more true, but it just isn't the case.

One would have a better chance at comparing Blackberry fanboys than Samsung fanboys. For every Samsung fanboy, there exist nearby another anti-Samsung-er who utterly despises what they do.

This is one that is always mentioned, but the reality is that statement means absolutely NOTHING.

Full HD is a marketing term coined and adopted as a standard meaning 1080p for TV displays.

The translation to smartphone displays doesn't exist. PPI/Retina is a better measure of a smartphone display's crispness and quality and while current smartphones are higher than the iPhone, the iPhone 5's display is every bit as high definition as those are.

Despite the smaller display size, I really noticed little quality difference between my iPhone 5, HTC One and GS4, despite the fact the iPhone 5 isn't "HD".

As for the rest of it, the iPhone 5S will have the obligatory spec bumps, speed wise, camera update some display improvements, battery life improvement etc...

I fail to see how Samsung is so much more innovative.

This phone literally takes dumps on the next iPhone from great heights. 1080p 5.7 inch AMOLED screen, S-pen, 4k video, Snapdragon 800 quad core, 3GB RAM, 32GB minimum, thinner & lighter (I know those 2 are great sticking points to Apple diehards), huge battery, more customisable than ever. Yes you can choose the colour of your phone and you're not stuck with it forever, don't like it, change it (unlike Moto X & upcoming iPhones)... Amazing, Incredible, Miraculous!

And the ever reliable but often taken for granted features like ability to change your battery (wow), microSD (pay $100 more for double the memory what?! but 64GB class 10 microSD costs $40, you're lying aren't you!!) and if manufacturers ever get their act together 128GB microSD

Of course all the wireless tech you'll need is included, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11ac, LTE Category 4.

*sigh*

Most of this "hypocrisy" is made up by folks like you. There are of course the groups on each side who cause the stereotypes but the reality is most of us iOS users didn't cry about anything and never made any 100% statements regarding screen size or anything else.

As for Apple being "hypocritical" - that's a laugh. So you expect them to come out and say, ya our products aren't best, we should do what someone else is doing? Or you expect Jobs to never ever change his mind ever?

Give me a break....

And how is this not equally true of Apple?

Like it or not, Samsung has bred the very thing they mocked in their earlier ads. Samsung fanboys are every BIT as boisterous and obnoxious as Apple fanboys.

Personally, I prefer them ALL to go away.

Agreed, everything they make is the perfect size, until it isn't.
