*sigh*......Let me spell it out.

Do you understand now?

You're so centered in YOU that you can't read what others say. I have ****ing understood you from the start, what I find is that this opinion is just a fanboy one. Apple is God, all the rest can't compete. But hey, you're free to believe what you want

"It just works" anyone? That slogan has done more harm than good to Apple.

I especially love, "Can't innovate anymore, my ass."

Stay classy, Phil.

Again, you're digging at an argument that isn't there. When was the last time Samsung said a specific screen size was "perfect"? How could they even get away with saying that considering they offer so many screen sizes?

No one is expecting companies to sell their products short. However, Apple takes praising their own things to another level. No one is trying to stop them, but a little humility wouldn't hurt. A little humility in their fans wouldn't hurt, either.

"It just works" anyone? That slogan has done more harm than good to Apple. I've argued this before so I won't bore everyone again. In short, it creates a false expectation that things are perfect.

Hey, I get marketing. And Apple usually has brilliant marketing.

But please, don't compare other companies to Apple like they're pulling the same bag of tricks. Who else users terms -- and uses them seriously -- like it's "magic" or "it just works" as a slogan?

I'm not even a fan of Samsung, but Samsung can get away with more because they're offering more. They don't have to claim nor sell people that so and so size is the perfect size because they offer so many.

Apple could take a page out of Google, too. Anytime you see an interview of Googlers, you just get a sense of more humility and down-to-earth-ness. I still shutter when I think of Tim Cook on the stage saying "This is incredible!" It just feels so forced and fake. Ditto other Apple heads. I actually like Tim Cook, too. But when you watch their videos, it's pretty sad.

Conversely, when you watch Google videos/interviews, you get people saying "Android isn't finished." I forgot the exact wording the Google head used, but he said Android is only 2/5's done. There's still more to go. No where does he claim this is the "world's most advanced smartphone OS." I forgot who it was again, but some other Google head admitted Nexus cameras suck and has vowed that they'd pay attention for the next iteration. This is humility. This is confidence. This is a company truly interested in improving the experience unafraid of "fragmentation" and maximizing profits.

Anyway... my fingers are tired from typing all this. It just isn't the same, Jrz. Apple is, for better or worse, its own beast. Much of them is respectable, and some of it isn't. Their fanboyism and hypocrisy is definitely not.

Haha ok Couch - I forget I have to deal in absolutes and black and white with you.

No, I'm not claiming Samsung has ever made the exact same claims Apple makes. You are right, Apple is unique in stating they make the perfect screen-size.

HOWEVER

The actual point of my post had nothing to do with the specific claims and only to do with the general statement that ALL companies overplay their products. Look at how Samsung characterizes the Gear. Its from the future, will be a fashion craze all over the world, etc etc.....all nonsense if we actually looked at the device and what it can do.

So in a sense - you are correct. Apple has its own form of grandiose claims. And its fanboys (which, I still say are NOT a majority, rather a minority used in arguments to lump ALL Apple fans together) may be "unique".....BUT the overall point is Samsung has bred its own "fanboys" that are every bit as hypocritical and grandiose as Apple fanboys. Perhaps, not in the EXACT SAME WAY - but they are there nonetheless.

And to ignore this fact is as idiotic as you're making me out to be.

Lol alrighty pal. Everything you've posted above has been first posted by YOU. I never made any of these statements.

Yeah, that was awkward. :T

Ha, I'm sure if Samsung made a similar comment you'd all be like "Ya! Get em! Woohoo!"

See how stupid the above sentence is? This is what many of you do.....

Anyways, not sure why were where we are now. Facts:

(1) No hats have been handed to anyone.

(2) Note 3 = nice upgrade.

(3) Gear = suck.

(4) Apple = fine.

End of story.

Good thing the first sentence I wrote responding to this particular topic in this thread was "While there are some Samsung fanboys (as there are any fanboys)..."

Woohoo, I'm not as idiotic!

I don't know if an upgrade from a 5.5" 720p (267ppi) to a 5.7" 1080p (386ppi) screen is considered "NOTHING".

What will apple do to their display in the next iPhone where you consider it an improvement compared to what Samsung did and you call it NOTHING.

I'd agree what Samsung did wasn't innovative but its more of an upgrade than what the iPhone will get.

Jesus people.... am I really that hard to understand?

I said -> The term FULL HD, with respect to smartphones means nothing. NEVER did I say the display upgrade from the Note 2 to the Note 3 is nothing.....

*sigh* I always forget, I need to type smaller posts and explain EVERYTHING. Otherwise, 99% of what I say becomes some huge "I love Apple and can't find any fault with them and I hate Samsung" argument.

For Christ's sake, I actually really like my GS4 and DONT think Apple is perfect....

LOL. Right? I wonder how many apple employees come on here and try to boost apple up. Wonder how many posts Jobs made on MacRumors disguised as someone else. You know it happens.
Ironic that Samsung was caught paying students to talk about their products multiple times, yet Apple is the one doing it in your eyes. Maybe people love their products that Apple doesn't have to pay anyone. Or Samsung is desperate to sell their crap (most if it is, let's be honest. The majority of phones they sell should be considered feature phones by today's standards.), or both.

So this is all semantics. You have a problem with the actual words "Full HD" but respect the actual upgrade specs?

Picky picky, but okay.

Ha.....

The FACT I refer to is Samsung's fanboys are as boisterous as Apple's - and I had to CLARIFY, because you take EVERYTHING I say literally (though when I take what YOU say literally, I'm not understanding.....anyways), that while they don't make the EXACT SAME statements, they are undoubtedly as obnoxious.....as ALL FANBOYS ARE.

So the statement acknowledging that fanboys exist, doesn't necessarily meet all the requirements.

I'll give you the definition of Fanboy here....

Fanboy: one who seeks to usurp double standards by offering opposing viewpoints and challenging generalizations.

I'm a Fanboy.

For the record, I don't necessarily agree with the OP.

But the Note III is a nice upgrade for those interested in phablets.

And the Gear watch ended up nicer than I thought, though I don't think it'll take off (really too early to tell). Kudos to them for bringing it out, though, and trying to push the smart-watch front. (Ditto for Sony and Qualcom).

I take my leave from this thread! Phew.

Sure, because the comment wasn't phrased in the second way, but rather in the first.

If one says "The Note 3's resolution was increased from 720P to 1080p, the display size increase 0.4" and the overall PPI went from 206 to 360"....

I'd say

"That's a damn fine upgrade." Which is what I've said about the Note 3.

HOWEVER

When someone says "The Note 3 is now full HD, way better than the iPhone which isn't HD at all" - that's the part I have issue with because it is misleading and doesn't tell the whole story.

Amazing.

Last I recall, I got as far away as possible from Samsung's S4 variety show unveiling.

I'd ask the same question of you regarding how I'd automatically say the iWatch is innovative regardless of its feature set.....

The point being - generalizations/assumptions = bad.

I don't care how good the Note 3 gets. I'll never own it or use it.

It's ridiculously oversized. I wouldn't want it in a pocket and I'd never want to make a call on it.

It's one of the stupidest samsung product lines, in my opinion.

Clearly 30 million Note II owners disagree with you or is it 40 million now.

[Q UO a?re TEPhilyApple;17831176]I am really not seeing all this awesome innovation that everyone is talking with Samsung. The watch is cool, but I will for an Apple version of it. The Note 3 is huge, and its a spec bump of previous features. People are in such Apple hate mode that they would call this innovation. I have to disagree with this.[/QUOTE]

Um, when you look at your phone you're seeing mostly Samsung parts So What are you Saying?

What? I never said you'd say the iWatch would be innovative. This was in response to Phil saying "can't innovate anymore my ass." To which you accuse I'd cheer Samsung on if they said that line.

You've got so many conversations here I don't think you got your stories straight.

Innovative or not, Samsung improved on an already awesome phone (Galaxy Note 2). Not an easy task. If many note 2 users upgrade to the Note 3, I wouldn't be surprised.

Who says anything has to be innovative? Spec bumps are fine with me as long as they impress and the Note 3 definitely does that. That is really the iphones problem. 1gb ram, small screen, no sd slot, no replaceable battery, I could go on all day. Only thing iphone has going for it is IOS and that is about to get really ugly with IOS 7. What will be the compelling reason to keep an iphone after that?

If apple came out with a 5" iphone with wireless charging and a removable battery I would own that phone. I have bad eyesight and must have a larger phone. Currently have a LG Optimus G Pro and love it. Has all of those great features and they are really useful. Just wish apple would get out of their lame rut they are in and make some hardware that is AT LEAST COMPARABLE to what is out there today. They just love selling 3yr old hardware for twice the price.

Apple iphone 5 64gb = $850
LG Optimus G Pro 32gb + 64gb MSDHC card = $439+$50

LG kills the feature set of the iphone.

- SD Card Slot
- Removable battery
- Quad Core
- 2gb ram
- Wireless charging
- NFC
- LED Home button
- 5.5" HD screen
- IR Blaster remote control
- All day battery life
- Quick key button for anything you want to assign it to
- 13px camera with dual video recording and picture taking. Yeah.
- $439! BAM!

All features lacking in the iphone. Not cool apple. Lets get it in gear already.

I own all sorts of phones. 1GB of RAM is really needed for android these days as a bare minimum. The S3 in the USA has had 2GB since mid 2012 and the S4 still has 2GB RAM.

iOS really only needs 512MB ram. 1GB ram is nice but not essential. iOS is less RAM intensive than Android.

Windows Phone is similar to to iOS in terms of RAM.

BB10/QNX is really RAM intensive. It needs 2GB and probably more RAM intensive than Android.

Screen size is a choice. Apple is and always has been apple. They dictate what the they think people want.

Android is about choice in terms of screen size.

I've love a 4.3 inch iPhone with similar physical size as the Lumia 900. But that's me. Others want other sizes.

Nah, I just can't keep straight when I'm supposed to be literal and when I'm supposed to be general.

Whatever.

I do wonder though - am I not allowed to be an Apple Fan who simply is content with the current offerings? Do I have to be always be critical? Is my lack of overt criticism mean I'm a fanboy and think everything Apple does is perfect?

These questions aren't all directed at you, rather to everyone. I really am missing this here.

Galaxy Gear smart watch, Galaxy Note 3? I have to admit that note 3 is pretty unbelievable. The smart watch is cool but I hate the design, not liking the screws. I do however love the faux leather backing of the Note 3. Oh and it can record 4k video and has 3gb of ram. That is amazing.

What do you all think? Looks like Samsung raised the bar even further. Apple really has to come out with something on the 10th and it better not be just a fingerprint reader and colors.

No. Samsung put out more of the same junk, as usual. Why would Apple care?

I love it, people moan constantly about apple's tick rock update schedule, yet the internet is abuzz about how "innovative" this textbook example of a spec update from Samsung is.

I wouldn't call the watch (an entirely new product for Samsung) a spec update.

Can't waittt to see what apple puts out on the 10th

The Note 3 is tempting, for use in meetings or on the train.

Places where a larger screen than a phone is useful, but not quite enough room to whip out the laptop, or ipad.

If it ran iOS, I'd get one....

Ios would limit it too much, its a work device not a toy

I wonder if carriers would do a promotion of that Samsung smart watch for like $50 if you get a Note 3. I remember ATT was selling the Note 8 half priced with the S4. I almost bit, but didn't need a tablet.
