In your earlier post, you said it's a stupid feature to have.

Now you say its going to suck if it's not included.

Got it.

Yes, it's stupid to have to purchase a 4K TV or computer to watch the 4K videos. It's basically a useless feature for a lot of people. But hey, it gives the owner bragging rights even if they can't view the videos.

It's going to suck for all the fanboys praising the innovation when it won't be available in their country. I know, they can always purchase the other version that will have that capability but at full retail price. That's what's gonna suck.

Spec bump? I don't think so. From the leather trimmed back, on imporved on screen multi tasking, 13MP camera with image stabilizer and further integration of the S-Pen This is the first phone I have had to have since the original iPhone (Which is still available by the way, and will be introduced on September 10th as the iPhone5S) You know, Fits in your hand and all.

Throwing a bucket of poo at the wall to see what sticks is not innovation.

I actually prefer taking photos on my iP5 than my S4 because the S4's shutter is too damn slow. Higher MP count doesn't equal better image. The display on my S4 is too saturated and doesn't provide true color output. My iP5 does a better job displaying true color reproduction.

You completely missed the point!

Your iPhone 5 takes pictures at 4k resolution almost native 4k in native movie that comes out to 8.2 mp .the gs4 can take even higher resolution pictures at 13mp

Some people also use higher res computer monitors that will take advantage of higher red video recording also and 4k TVs have been dropping buy the day in pricing.

Let me guess the 24bit audio DAC is also worthless right ?

Ohh and we all know very well you don't have a gs4

Really?? Where do I begin.
Fanboys are fanboys they will buy whatever their favorite manufacturer puts out.

By the time 4k becomes mainstream and Apple has it then it'll be innovative, is that what you're trying to say?

I will have a 4k tv by the end of the year, but I'm not buying the Note 3 for 4k video.
I'm buying it because I want the bigger screen. I like the way it looks. I have used the Note 2 and like the S-pen. I like the dual windows and running different apps side by side.
I like the speed of the Note 2 and the battery life of it, and the Note 3 will only be faster and have better battery life.
I like being able to stick a 64gb sd card in it.
Those are some of the reasons I'm buying the Note 3 when it goes on pre-order. I would have bought the Note 2 but waited for the 3. Glad I did.

And I could care less about 4k. But you know what. The Note 3 can do it. So what? Why do you keep bringing this up? Did you complain when smartphones could record in 720p and later 1080p? Did you rag on how dumb they were?
Really, your post about how Samsung was stupid for having 4k video was flat out wrong.
Get over it.

I never said anything about Apple and 4K video. Nice try, though.

I don't keep bringing it up. I'm simply replying. I didn't complain when smartphones were given HD video capture because HDTV was the norm at that point.

Let's see if we can move on from the argument going on above ^^

Personally, I am looking forward to Apple's announcement now. I have been eyeing the Note 2 ever since it was released and the Note 3 was exactly what I had hoped it to be. Once I find out if it is indeed Tri-Band for Sprint, I will be 99% confident that is what I will go with. However, I leave that 1% to see what Apple has to announce.

The 4K feature is nice to have, since in about a year or two, it will be mainstream and I won't feel out of date. More than likely won't be used until then, however.

I also like the idea of a smart watch. However, never thought the Pebble was worth it and do not think Samsung has nailed this one down either. Based off the reviews, it definitely looks like it is in its infancy stage. Will be good to have competition like Qualcomm and Apple.

Now we wait another week for Apple! If it is a typical 'S' update, with nothing life-changing, I will be switching from my 4S to the Note 3 to spice up my life lol.

The majority of the world population can view those photos on almost any display no matter what sizes the images are. That can't be said for 4K video at this point in time.

I'm in a similar boat. If the next iPhone doesn't have any significant update, I'll keep my iP5 and consider selling my S4 and pick up the Note 3.

Let me get this straight... It records in 1080p but only has a 1136x640 display? So we are now supposed to purchase a 1080p TV or computer that can render 1080p video to watch the videos? What the heck?! That's just plain stupid. They call that innovation? I wonder high large those video files are gonna be.

See what I did there?

Ohh wait a sec. I couldnt find anything. Its got 24bit audio?

Im wondering what kind of Dac it has. My S3's Wolfson was pretty decent. But according to reviews, the US S3's Dac wasnt too great.

If the US Note is using Snapdragon I fear the Dac might be so-so.

Well, getting back to the topic, the Gear looks clunky at best and it highlights Samsung's lack of design finesse. I think that far from handing Apple's its hat, Samsung has handed Apple an opportunity. I guess we'll see on the 10th, when Apple announces new products.

This is ignorance. Why not moan about the iPhone taking 1080p video since 2011 with no way to view it natively on the iPhone itself.

Heck, why not just trash all smart phone cameras--heck all cameras--since they cannot display their own stills/vids in native resolution.

So is it inevitable that the iPhone 5S will have similar specs or will they be playing catch up again?

The iPhone 5S won't need 3 GB of RAM. Heck, neither will the iPhone 6. It's not all about hardware, the software that goes with it is just as important.

And regarding 4K video... why put a feature in a phone that almost nobody on this planet will be able to enjoy until they get their next smartphone anyways? And I can't even imagine how much space 4K video must use.

Huge checklists of features do nothing for me. The overall product is what's important. Features, when used properly, can add to the effect of the overall product. When used improperly, they're just terrible marketing gimmicks.

But why not put the 4k video recording if the technology is there? It's a pretty big achievement, even if it isn't perfect yet. Think about old family videos that you may have recorded on vhs or mini DV. Now that you have an HDTV available, wouldn't it have been good if you would have recorded those videos in HD to fully enjoy them now?

Besides, 4k tv's will get cheaper, more and more devices will support it. Space shouldn't be a big issue as you probably won't leave all the videos in your phone anyways. You can transfer them and store them on a computer, external hard drive or discs. Besides, just like the smart phones now let you record in 1080p, 720, or SD, these options will still be available on top of the 2160p option.

What I'm most curious about is the bitrate and encode they will use. Right now smartphones record at about 17 mbps in a H.264 encode. I'm guessing they will still stay with that encode but will likely increase the bitrate to about 40 mbps.... Even now, the 1080p videos on cell phones are compromised, so it's not like they are going to go all out on 4k recording.

You can get a 55in or 50 (from memory) in Sony 4k TV for 3600 bucks.they have come down in pricing and there is even a cheap 50 in that's under 1200.

Its odd that people complain about being able to view 4k when none of there devices can view 8 or higher mp camera shots.

The note 3 can also record 1080p at 60fps

I'm not moaning about 1080P HD video because we can share and view them on almost any computer, media hosting sites such as youtube and HDTV's. Can the same be said about 4K video?

So how do you view the 8mp pictures you take with your iPhone 5

You would need a 4k TV to see all the pixels natively

Do you see where we are going with this? You even claimed your iPhone 5 took better pictures then the gs4s 13mp shooter.again how do you view these pictures?

Here is a TV people can easily afford to be able to playback 4k content.

You don't need a screen to display native resolution to compare photo quality.

You're just not getting it. How are you going to share your 4K videos?

Go ahead and pickup that UHDTV from Sears and let us know how it does.

Whether you use them or not I would rather have companies introduce new features and push the technology edge. It is better to give us options and new features than to just keep the same old tech. If no companies did that, we would still be stuck with an Abacus.

If you don't like no name brands how about Sony's best TV they make? The xbr 55in 4k for 3600?

See prices of ultra HD screens have dropped and I didn't complain about my onkyo receiver that I bought 2 years ago when it came with a 4k upscaler saying I will never use it because at the time 4k TVs were 30 grand but man let me tell you how excited I am that it has it because that no name brand 4k prolly has a junk upscaler built into it so I can if I wanted to get into 4k watching for the price of an iPhone 5

BTW here is the Sony xbr 4k if you want to check it out.it makes the note 3 look a lot better now don't it Lol

I will purchase a UHDTV when my local cable provider starts broadcasting in 4K. Right now, Comcast in my area doesn't even broadcast in full HD 1080p. It's only 1080i.

It will be a long while, and not all stations even broadcast in 1080i. A lot of stations broadcast in 720p. It will be a long time before a majority of the stations can go full HD to carry such bandwidth. But they are much better than the SD Dish or Cable though. Still, you have better means of seeing full HD content on your hdtv now than with cable or over the air HD. 4k broadcasting will be off for a long time. Add to that, that most of the broadcast HD is recorded at 2k anyways, so the best source for 4k will be films or the few other stations which are taking the steps now and recording in 4k.
