Update from another "waiter". As I posted earlier, my debit card was authorized on Nov 1 AM (EST), but as of tonight the funds had still not been deducted.

(I thought earlier they had been, but I was looking at the wrong thing.)

So just authorization for now, no actual payment.

Also, I was not able to cancel my order as of Wed, Nov 1 am (also EST). However, now we're in Nov 3 in China and still no shipping notice.

I ordered on Oct 24 late. (I had ordered earlier in the day but when I switched from matte to glossy that evening, it was done as a cancel and then a new order)

And of course it's a Glossy CTO 17" (3GB)

FINALLY! My order can't be cancelled(I've been trying all day after others reported it). I had to reorder on the 26th so I could get a free printer, but it looks like I am not too far behind everyone who ordered on the 24th. Shipping still says November 9th but this is the first positive sign that I have seen on my 17" 3GB 160GB Glossy

Same here, just tried to cancel and couldn't (and thank god for that if I had accidentally cancelled I might have thrown myself out my window).

Guess this saves me the trouble of calling the Apple Stores in my area. I'm locked in now. Good luck to everyone with a 7th ship date (and to all you afterwards too). Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll start trickling out early.

Come on Apple! I want to be switched by the end of next week!

Sounds pretty silly.. Well, back to checking orderstatus and bankaccount.

I havent been able to cancel my 17'' for a couple days now...but it hasnt been charged yet and even though i ordered on the 26th early morning its not set to ship till the 9th! and even worse get here by the 17!!!

so is this really a sign that things are moving forward or is this just show?

Apple made a change to their store last night. Sadly I don't think it means anything. Mine's still cancellable and the money's still in my account.

Strange... I honestly thought it was an Apple update. It happen last night to me. At first I was doing my 'normal' 20 minute re-check of my status and the Apple site gave me a 'closed for maintainance' message, then a minute later I got that new screen!
I was using the UK site to check my details.

I think they changed it because people were clicking on the old link to figure out what there current status of their laptop was. Hoping it will tell them. Order Charged, Built, Ready to Ship... But it just gave you the specs for the Mac.

Yep, me too as of this AM. No charge on the cc - can't cancel the order as of yesterday - let's hope they ship over the weekend as some of the 15 inchers did. Wonder what people see if they did not custom configure ?

Wrong delivery dates?

I just phoned up the Apple helpline about an address error and they asked if I wanted a status check on my new 17" MBP. It says on the website, shipping 8th Nov & delivery 15th Nov.

So i just went along with it and the rep said it would be delivered 8th Nov. I reckoned he had looked at the shipping date and corrected him. However, he said that, despite what my order status says, his displays the shipping date as 3rd Nov with delivery on 8th Nov.

I hope hes got the right version ....but my web order status still hasnt changed so im not sure whether I can get my hopes up yet.

Has anyone else been told their getting it a week earlier???

anytime my phone rings i say a quick prayer that it will be the apple store calling to tell me the 17" are in.

so far... lots of quick prayers and no lapzilla i was hoping it would sneak into stores by today but it looks like no sooner than next week.

Rats, I called the store for an order status update and they told me that it's still targeted to ship on the 7th of November with my estimated delivery date at the 13th. I had hoped for a pleasant surprise but it looks like I'll be waiting another 2 weeks for my MBP.

Placed my order today ...

I finally broke down and placed an order for a new 17" MacBook Pro (stock config.). This will be the first Mac portable I've owned since a Duo 230 some/many years ago. It will be replacing a B&W G3 450 that has been my primary home system for almost seven years (yes, I know, it's been showing its age for some time now). The G3 won't be retired completely but I'm sure it will see much less use after this new system arrives

Anyway, Apple currently lists ship by as the 15th - 20th and delivery by the 17th - 24th. I did opt for the expedited shipping (2-3 days) for whatever that will be worth. Hopefully, I'll have it to play with by Thanksgiving ... an early Christmas gift
