Flight Info

Just to let everyone know. I deal a lot with FedEx packages coming from China so I know the flight schedules (what little FedEx has of a flight schedule) coming out of China. Everyone’s MBPs that shipped yesterday and made it to Anchorage, AK at this point will probably have their computer on either FedEx flight 24 from Anchorage to Indianapolis, IN or on FedEx Flight 14 on the same flight pattern. This is where all of the computers will clear customs. If this happens in a timely manner then they will be sent out early tomorrow morning all over the US like Santa and depending on where you live and what time flights arrive in the city closest to you some of us could easily see the first few of these machines by about 10:30am tomorrow!

Lets keep hoping that FedEx doesn't mess things up!

A timely manor? That sounds like an interesting form of real estate. Where can I get some money in one of these?

Gah! You'd think it would be easier for Apple to ship TWO MBP to Belfast at the same time... ;)

Still waiting on my shipping notification, order status page still shows 14th for shipping and yes, like you 23-24th for delivery. I spoke to Apple CS and they said they'd try and ship it faster, and also that they'd separate the neoprene sleeve I ordered with it, which might help. Mine is also 'Merge in Transit' still. In fact, the status page hasn't changed at all since I spoke to them this morning...

See I ordered a neoprene sleeve as well (great minds and all that!), but i also went for the 'free' printer option so im wondering if they HAVE to ship the two together because the printer had to be bought with a new mac. Ah well, I suppose I can try and see what they say, but sure it costs them more to split it up so Im not too optimistic about it.

My 17" C2D MBP is now in Anchorage, AK. Estimated delivery according to FedEx is 11/17 at 10:30 AM ET (I am in central Ohio).

Mine too. Perhaps out Macs are sharing a seat on the plane.

Now, for me, the big worry begins. With Apple's horrific quality of late, I hope I have a new Mac which has no heat, noise, poor fit, uneven screen problems.

I am a long time Mac guy, and of late:

1. Wife's MacBook went back for 3 weeks
2. Current last gen PowerBook has uneven screen lighting, bad fit
3. iPod had bad fit

So I am worried. I really need--not want--a new laptop, so I hope this one is of the quality Apple used to do.

With everyone anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 17" gifts, who is going to be first on this thread to post unpacking pictures? Hopefully, the earlier post about the flight to Indy is correct and my MBP will arrive tomorrow and not Friday.

actually flight 24 continues to Indiana from Alaska. the arrival time in the Fedex tracker correlates with flight 24 so i would guess it on 24

mac mall delay...

Just spoke with MacMall and their date has been pushed to the 24th, so I will just resolve not to get mine until December. I will just keep enjoying my 17" Powerbook until then ;)

Don't forget to post those pics when you get yours please.

peace,
-Brian

**** one! Thats strange cos Ive been following your posts since you ordered same laptop on education discount. I also ordered on 25th, but I think you ordered earlier?

Maybe someone in corporate has figured out you got two 'gifts' from Apple ...call them back and say you'll cancel the 2nd gift if theyll just send you ur MBP!

and I paid for 2 day shipping!

That is what that "Missed FedEx cutoff means". It means that FedEx is counting it as the 15th not the 14th. But that does not mean it won't make it. It just means you can not yell at FedEx if it does not make it until the 17th. Mine is already in AK and may make it to the sorting facility tonight!

Do the MBP's going to the west coast have to go back east first to clear customs? Anyone with experience? I'm in Utah and if that plane is coming straight here that left Anchorage at 1:42 pm I bet I'll have it first thing in the morning as I live close to the facility here.

Mine headed for So.Cal is on the same plane, so I assume they are headed for the central sorting facility. But, it does mean it could be delivered as early as late tomorrow.

Looks like there are some flights going to oakland as well. So maybe...

Barring more than a 3 hour wait for the customs stop wherever, I think tomorrow will still be the day!

What city are you in Darkwing? I'm in North SLC.

I'm in Murray. Amazing there are some UT folks here. I already met one guy off the forum and he's pretty cool. I just moved here about a month and a half ago.

I'm guessing Friday because one of the posters of his tracking results showed his computer sitting in IN for almost a day, and yeah. Unless it leaves IN tonight inbound for SLC we won't see it. And why would it go to SLC? Why not Denver? Or Phoenix? Just a thought.

Lol, I was driving down to the apple store a couple weeks ago from Pocatello and I accidently got off on 500S instead of driving down to 600S which exits into downtown SLC.

Drove around for like 15 minutes going, WTF are all the big buildings.....

Then on the way home I wasnt paying attention and was chatin with my wife and I realized id driven about 80 miles passed the place where you have to exit to stay on I-15, ended up halfway to Boise :\

Bad day overall, but The Gateway is nice :)
